Wow, congrats on qualifying for promotion then hah. I see the edit now. Out of curiosity, how exactly do you benefit from remaining in the CT? I can't think of any way..
Regardless, yes we can talk a bit more when the time comes. I'd definitely like to work with you as the only other team with a Swiss focus.

The Official team line is that with the HQ move to San Marino, there will be a short term deficit in the teams budget before we can gain from the reduced tax levels.
Unofficially, if we are being realistic we're likely to go straight back down as we are mainly keeping the same team for the next season so it will save us a lot of headaches at roughly this point in a season's time. Also whether we are CT or PCT won't effect our strategy of keeping the focus on the Asia Tour instead of our division so it's better to offer the spot to Credexbank who would take more out of it then we would and it allows me to stick to the long term gameplan.

Over the past few days I've slowly been updating the first page to the 2014 season.
And now thanks to Deksel from Salita Designs we can now bring you our jersey for the upcoming season, and the NC shirts to be worn by those who earned them at the tail end of last year.
The Indonesian Champions Jersey to be worn by Jimmy Pranata (RR&TT)
The Liechtensein champions Jersey to be shared by Mundle (RR) and Jiriakov (TT) (don't worry they do get a copy each, the budget isn't that thin  )
The Malaysian Champions Jersey to be showcased by Awang (TT)
The San Marino Jersey to be worn by Zafferani (RR)

Hey sammy, congrats on promoting for real this time. I'm not sure how closely you followed your loaned out riders, so here's a little rundown of their highlights this year:
Gregory Hugentobler killed it at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, getting in the breakaway and ending up the best placed rider of our laughable cobbles squad in 22nd. He also got in the break of the day at Strada Appia Antica, but got caught and ended up 49th (still not bad for my team in the cobbles!).
Stefan Kung was pretty anonymous all year, only getting in the breakaway at the end of the year in Praha - Karlovy Vary - Praha. He still ended up our best placed rider in 28th.
I enjoyed having them around and if you're open to any deals for them (or Schurter or Chavanne), I'd love to talk when the transfer season rolls around.

I'm sure we'll talk come transfer season as you've also got some riders I'd be interested in, hopefully we can work something out that will benefit us both.
It's good to see my loaned out guys doing well for you as Saggiorato had a good season for us as well, winning the C1 Tour Of Japan, our only GC win of the season, and taking out 2 stages throughout the season. It's nice to see we both got a positive result out of the loan deals, it's just a shame Kung didn't perform as well as Hugentobler did for you.

Now that the madness of the transfer season is over we feel it is the right time to call a press conference. The prupose of this is to unveil the new jersey's to be worn by our riders in the upcoming season.
So without further delay we can now proudly present the Salita Design shirt that we will be racing in for a second season. After winning promotion from the CT division last season we will be wearing the same shirt for a second season so that it is easier for our fans to pick us out in the peloton and to recognise us when we do well as we are anticipating a season of very limited success whilst we are hoping it brings us as much luck for our debut PCT season.
We also have a host of NC’s to present at the same time, the first of these is the Indonesian NC to be worn on the road by our super talent Nandra Eko Wahyudi who is looking to get to level 4 this year.
The second one is the Japanese NC to be worn by Yamato Shirota who has joined us on loan for the season from Meiji.
The third one is the Liechtenstein NC to be worn by Benedikt Mundle in the TT’s and Dimitri Jiriakov on the road. Jiriakov will look to prominently display this on the 2 occasions where he will be given team leadership this season.
Next up is the NC of one of our home nations, the Malaysian NC which our sprint talisman Azizulhasni Awang will proudly display in time trials and our talent Muhamma Afif Ahmad Zamri will wear on the road whilst he gains enough xp to get to level 4.
The final NC jersey in use on the road for our team this year is the Sammarinese NC which was successfully defended by Marco Zafferani, the Samarinese rider will look forward to carrying the nations hopes again this year and continueing to inspire a new generation of Sammrinese youngsters to take up the sport.
We also had the Switzerland NC made so our Swiss fans to live their dreams and we can officially unveil it here before we ship it out to stores in the morning.

Seeing as it's all the rage at the moment we are going to jump on the bandwagon and for the first time ever we will announce the progress made by our riders over the course of the season.
First up is our Malaysian talent Ahmad Zamri, the 23 year old has made some nice progress throughout the year riding in our own colours and has continued his development as the hottest stage racing talent in the nation whilst wearing the NC after winning the National Title at the end of last season. We are hoping that once maxed he will be able to be a solid points scorer in CT or a fairly strong PCT domestique for us at the very least and we look forward to when he is fully developed.

Gregory Hugentobler is returning to us after his second consecutive season out on loan to Swisscom. The 24 year old wants to thank our fellow Swiss squad for his time there the last 2 seasons and for helping him reach his Maximum potential. He is returning to us a much stronger rider and is looking forward to helping us try and bounce back to PCT level first time next year by being a key rider for us on the hills.

Our Sammarinese climber Giacomo Scarponi has carried on his slow development with our side and the 27 year old is now getting close to maxing out. We appreciate he will never be a world beater but he is still a valued member of our side, being good friends with the DS and the first Sammarinese rider we signed he holds a special place in our squad and keeping him here will only help keep up relations with our sponsors from his home country.

Kung is the second of 2 riders who is returning to us after spending 2 years out on loan to Swisscom. He might not have been as attacking as his compatriot Hugentobler was this year for Bushwackers side but he has still enjoyed racing in the PT with them and wants to thank Swisscom for allowing him to develop and learn from the likes of Nibali, Amador and Schumacher. Now that he is returning to us the 22 year old feels ready to step up and lead our CT promotion efforts in both the hills and the mountains before dropping back into a domestique role once we promote back up to the PCT.

Gabriel Chavanne is another one of the young Swiss riders that we signed before the start of our first season, unlike Kung and Hugentobler we could only get him to 2.97 after the first year and not level 3 so he didn't progress as much as we were hoping. This has already cost him by meaning he wasn't as close to challenging for the l’Avenir prologue win last year as he should have been and also means he will be taking a year longer to fully develop. But taking an extra year to reach his full potential might not necessarily be a bad thing for this 23 year old as it gives him extra time to hone his skills and when you consider just how good he can become in prologues that could be brilliant for him. He has already put his potential to good use scoring some nice results in a tough PCT field this year and is now well on his way to reaching 82 Prologue and becoming one of the strongest Prologue specialists in the world and being able to challenge for the win in any division.

Nanadra Eko Wahyudi, just like Ahmad Zamri was picked up from free agency ahead of last year and quickly developed up to level 3. This young Indonesian is considered the brightest prospect in his country and has already shown a glimpse of what's to come by winning the National Title at the end of last season and getting the honour of wearing the jersey this year. We are hoping that this young Puncheur can push on and complete his development next season by maxing out to add yet more home grown depth to our lineup.

Benedikt Mundle is another rider that signed for us in our first season and this 24 year old Liechtensteiner has slowly over the 3 years he's been on our squad been developing a big engine for chasing down breaks on the flat and putting his attack spirit to good use in the mean time. In future we are hoping that once fully developed he will be a key member of the squad in making sure there is a sprint for our fastmen to contest or being capable of getting into breaks on flat stages and then holding off the advancing peloton for a solo victory.

Martin Weiss signed for us ahead of this season after impressing the management team in the mini man game before being sent our on loan for the year to fellow PCT team Evonik ELKO to learn from LLS and co. He has come back from this loan looking stronger than when he left us and we are hoping that the young Austrian will be able to add to our hilly depth once maxed.

Gregor Muhlberger was the one must sign talent that the management decided on going into this season and after a battle with CT team Strava we managed to finalise the signature of the 21 year old Austrian rider. This wasn't the last that Strava would see of Muhlberger though as he ended up going on loan to the globally focussed team run by Austrian DS Shonak where he has enjoyed spending the year in a side that has been winning left right and centre. We are hoping that he will be able to bring some of the luck, tactics and winning mentality back to our side with him when he finally gets to put on a Sauber Petronas jersey next season.

Mohammad Harrif Salleh has spent this year out on loan to Asian powerhouse Meiji who took in two of our Malaysian riders to give them experience whilst they rode their first Pro Tour season. Salleh got the honour of trying to help Valverde's side set up sprints for Napolitano and Bennati whilst he was part of a loan swap which saw two young Japanese riders join us for the year. The 27 year old will be coming back to us ready to lead our team in the sprints and hopefully he will have an all Malaysian train firing on all cylinders to propel him to some victories next season.

Othman is the second of our two Malaysians that has enjoyed spending the year involved in a loan swap with Meiji. The 24 year old Puncheur is now returning to us ready to lead our side on the CT hills next season knowing he will have a very strong support squad around him before hopefully linking up with fellow Malaysian Anuar Aziz in the future if we can successfully sign his compatriot once we return to the PCT.

Now that our stat gains are done we will also use this as a chance to announce the first details about our plan for next year which will see us needing to try and secure PT loans for the following 6 of our riders to help them max out. We appreciate that some of them will be more interesting to teams than others but we are hoping that we have built up enough good ties with sides over the first 3 years of our existence to find a place for all of them, even if some won't be as useful as others.

HQ Plans Introduction
A.K.A. “Something to Talk About, A Story To Tell”
This post is designed to offer a first glimpse into what the off season will hold for the Sauber Petronas Team HQ, a period where I hope to post lots of short little articles to make it the hive of activity that it perhaps probably should have been over the last couple of years. The idea is to get back to the kind of activity that was in here over my first transfer period with slightly shorter articles than back then but to keep it up for far longer by spreading them out nicely to between once and three times a week depending on how much time I’ve got and how much there is to talk about.
Hopefully we can churn out some nice interesting articles that get everyone talking and gain us some new fans and use these to help plan and get ready for the new season.
Over the next few MG months we are hoping to cover lots of different topics both looking forward to the future and reflecting on the past but no matter what it’s about each one will have one thing in common, a song lyric or in rare cases a slightly modified song lyric as it’s alternative title, that has some link to the topic of that mini article, with the first one coming shortly after out final race, the Japan Cup.

Japan Cup Review
A.K.A. “No Hope, No Love, No Glory, No Happy Ending”
Well what can I say, we’ve finally ended our season with the Japan cup, a nation in which we have had a lot of success over the years albeit all coming from the Tour of Japan rather than this classic.
We sent a fairly strong squad here lead by Zardini as we hoped to end our season on a positive note and raise the mood in the camp ahead of the World and National Championships. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be as Zardini flopped and only managed 63rd place which kind of sums up how our leaders have done all season. At least Schurter and Krizek could both just scrape into the points with a top 30 each but as per usual we were only contesting the minor places and minor points and not doing enough.
Looking back over the season our leaders have disappointed us far too often and it’s been up to the supporting cast to score us points which when the final Individual rankings are out will be evident by how many of our points were scored by Zardini and Drucker and just how many of our riders managed to outscore them.

2016 Season Planning Part 1
A.K.A. “Hello CT My Old Friend”
It's safe to say that this season is not going to go down as our most successful one ever, but then again when the preseason previews suggest we are likely to relegate and we knew this before the transfer season had finished then what did we expect?
Well for starters we were hoping to try and avoid finishing the season bottom of the rankings and at the start of the season we had genuine hope that we would be able to do so. But alas it wasn't to be and for some time now we've been glued to the basement of the rankings, and we were just slowly counting down the days to the season’s end (now we’ve only got world’s and NC’s left).
Now I’m not sure if we were unlucky to finish last or just being unrealistic in our original hopes and expectations for this year but if only one thing is certain it’s that if we finish in the same position next year then something has gone seriously wrong. The squad we are bringing down to CT with us is easily strong enough to avoid the ranking basement, being a similar if not slightly stronger one to that which secured us 11th place last year which leads me to hope that we can promote back again first time of asking with only minimal changes to the makeup of the squad.
The only thing left to conclude this season is to find out if we have broken the lowest points total for a PCT team or not., from what I can tell we have as it’s the lowest since I joined the game. (SN could you please clarify this for me)

Well it's not really comparable, considering that this season has had many less race days compared to the last ones. Would be interesting to have a look at the PpRDs though.

Thanks dev4ever, hopefully we can bounce back first time to join you in the PCT with a stronger set of riders than what we came up with ahead of the season just gone. I plan on releasing a post that's a rough guide to rider availability at some point next week so don't want to go into too much detail now other than saying that I'm confident I'll have quite a few guys that are capable of bringing points in at CT level even if we can't add the one or 2 guys that I've identified as our top targets ahead of this coming transfer season.

Yeah that's true, I forgot that there are less race days this year, I can't imagine anyone's season going badly enough to score less PPRD than we did but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Pre Renewals Plan
A.K.A. “Only Greatness Will Remain”
I guess now is as good a time as any to reveal our pre renewals plan which should be the first solid indication of how I expect renewals to go and who might be available during transfers. Obviously this isn’t going to be definitive as some things might change based on who gets NC’s and how renewals actually go but it should be a good indicator as to what our plans are and a first chance for us to try and gauge the interest in the riders that we are hoping to offload as we attempt to shrink the squad down to the CT size limits.

Krizek and Wohrer will stay if we can lower their wage enough, if not we will either release them or renew and look to sell, depends on how low I can get their wage and on how much interest there is in them.
Rusli and Jiriakov are likely to be released to free up wage budget of my number 1 target. Then we will assess whether we want them back or if we think we can afford to get a couple of talents instead and still promote.

Rohregger is getting older and is on a fairly high wage so it is unlikely he will stay, not sure if I’ll release him or try and get him a low wage and sell him.
Drucker will be renewed and likely sold. I’d like to keep him but I don’t see us focussing on cobbles next season and he will likely be on too high wages for the odd cobbled race we have to face in the CT, if I can find a way of getting his wage down to a point where I can keep him then he’d be great to bring back up to PCT with me after this season but I just can’t see that being possible unfortunately.

We plan for all of these riders to leave us one way or another before the start of the next season. The 2 Indonesian riders will either be released or sold, we hope they will stay in the PCT by returning home to our neighbours at Indosat.
Zardini will be sold as we lost faith in him through this year and think he’d be a better domestique than a leader.
We have lost faith in our 2 Iranian riders and they won’t be renewed, Ashgarzadeh was effectively replaced last season by Forcellini and be looking for another team this year.
Alizadeh would be a good CT leader as he showed for us in our first 2 years and returning back to CT would have seen him gaining another chance to lead us but he is now deemed surplus to requirements as he is no longer considered our mountain leader after Kung has returned back to us fully developed and if we get our as yet unnamed number one target then he would slip even further down the pecking order which considering he isn’t from one of our target nations we would prefer to let him find another team and give him the chance to remain a leader elsewhere.
Zamri Salleh is getting older now and will find himself released as we continue to build for the future and look to reduce our wages enough to get back under the cap and free up enough roster spots to grab a couple more talents this year.

These 6 riders are all looking to be loaned out to max out this year. We know it will be tough to loan out 6 riders to the PT but are hoping we’ve made enough friends to be able to get them all maxed, even if we need to pay wages on some of them ourselves to make that dream happen.

These 3 riders should all be at a level where they can gain a new level either with us or whilst loaned out, whether we look to loan them out or try to get them up a level ourselves will probably mostly depend on whether we need them to make up numbers or need to loan them out to keep the squad size down, at this stage we are not sure which way it will go.
As a side note I’m not sure when my next update will be about as I’m very busy right up until I move on the 21st of December so it might have to wait until after Christmas/ into the new year if I can’t find the time to make it sooner.
If that is the case though it should mean that I’ll then have quite a few topics to line up and post about and it will just be a case of typing them up and picking the order.

Well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in Suryadi and Pranata
However, quite interesting to see the reshaping of your squad. I'm curious as to who your primary transfer target is though! Best of luck in securing him.

You've got a big squad, so will be interesting to see how you handle the downsizing - and whether you can do it and still give yourself a chance in the free agency.
