Let's look at all participating teams in detail:
| | | | | | | | | | Air New Zealand-Alfa Romeo | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Archbold | Shane | NZL | 34 | 59 | 67 | 66 | 70 | | | Diaz | Daniel Ricardo | ARG | 34 | 67 | 64 | 68 | 63 | | | Gaze | Samuel | NZL | 28 | 69 | 74 | 79 | 71 | | | Puccio | Salvatore | ITA | 34 | 64 | 73 | 68 | 52 | | | Reddish | Nick | NZL | 27 | 67 | 68 | 75 | 72 | | | Shalunov | Evgeny | RUS | 31 | 69 | 75 | 71 | 63 | | | Vink | Michael | NZL | 32 | 75 | 74 | 71 | 68 | | | Zariff | Nur Aiman | MAS | 26 | 60 | 71 | 67 | 80
Air New Zealand-Alfa Romeo begins the season with a home race. They bring four NZ riders to this race.
Michael Vink looks like the best option for them, although the first objective will be the early break.
Only Nur Aiman Zariff is new in the lineup. All other ANZ riders were already under contract last year.
| | | | | | | | | | Babymetal Cycling | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | De Laat | Jasper | NED | 29 | 72 | 68 | 67 | 68 | | | Drouin | David | CAN | 28 | 69 | 70 | 68 | 62 | | | Jans | Roy | BEL | 33 | 73 | 72 | 71 | 72 | | | Johnson | Cooper | USA | 22 | 68 | 65 | 67 | 67 | | | Muhammad | Yuda | INA | 26 | 65 | 61 | 62 | 65 | | | Niu | Yikui | CHN | 29 | 72 | 76 | 69 | 74 | | | Verschaeve | Viktor | BEL | 25 | 73 | 76 | 75 | 71 | | | Welch | Patrick | USA | 22 | 64 | 60 | 59 | 59
It is the first race for Babymetal Cycling and manager TheUlamog. The Japanese based team will look to Belgian Viktor Verschaeve (last year at Isostar) as leader.
Only three of their 8 riders were under contract last year. Late bloomers De Laat (29), Drouin (28) and Muhammad (26) are hoping to launch their career from here.
| | | | | | | | | | Bordeaux Métropole - Euskotren | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Agirrebeitia | Mikel | ESP | 22 | 63 | 66 | 68 | 65 | | | Berthet | Clement | FRA | 24 | 72 | 68 | 72 | 72 | | | Doubey | Fabien | FRA | 30 | 75 | 72 | 72 | 70 | | | Lafay | Victor | FRA | 27 | 77 | 72 | 72 | 74 | | | Pacher | Quentin | FRA | 31 | 75 | 73 | 74 | 73 | | | Rodriguez | Cristian | ESP | 28 | 76 | 76 | 70 | 71 | | | Serrano | Javier | ESP | 22 | 68 | 71 | 74 | 68 | | | Tatarinov | Gennadiy | RUS | 32 | 74 | 71 | 71 | 73
Manager Imladrik and his squad Bordeaux Métropole - Euskotren have already one year of experience under their belt. Last year they debuted with a 7th spot for Wackermann.
No Wackermann this year, but with Victor Lafay, Quentin Pacher and Cristian Rodriguez they have a trio of leaders. One of the best teams in depth for this race.
| | | | | | | | | | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Altanzul | Maani | MGL | 31 | 69 | 68 | 73 | 75 | | | Berckmoes | Jenno | BEL | 22 | 57 | 68 | 68 | 66 | | | Edmondson | Joshua | GBR | 31 | 79 | 75 | 72 | 76 | | | Paulus | Milan | BEL | 22 | 65 | 66 | 68 | 69 | | | Rubenis | Pauls | LAT | 22 | 59 | 64 | 68 | 69 | | | Smirnovs | Andris | LAT | 33 | 76 | 73 | 68 | 77 | | | Van Den Bossche | Fabio | BEL | 23 | 69 | 64 | 69 | 67 | | | Zana | Filippo | ITA | 24 | 68 | 68 | 67 | 70
Crabbe CC-Chevigny have brought in Joshua Edmondson as their hills leader. Last year he was 9th for BNZ-Superhero.
The supporting cast consists only of Andris Smirnovs. A bunch of young riders are making their pro debut.
| | | | | | | | | | Ekoi - Le Creuset | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Chevrier | Clement | FRA | 31 | 74 | 69 | 69 | 67 | | | Gall | Felix | AUT | 25 | 76 | 70 | 71 | 72 | | | Lammertink | Maurits | NED | 33 | 75 | 73 | 71 | 67 | | | Le Gac | Olivier | FRA | 30 | 77 | 73 | 74 | 69 | | | Paret-Peintre | Aurelien | FRA | 27 | 77 | 73 | 75 | 74 | | | Paulus | Daniel | AUT | 30 | 77 | 71 | 68 | 71 | | | Teuns | Dylan | BEL | 31 | 78 | 73 | 73 | 72 | | | Vauquelin | Kevin | FRA | 22 | 64 | 65 | 69 | 67
We are presenting another French team in their second season. And again the team is damn strong depth wise.
Aurelien Paret-Peintre (acquired from Grieg) and Dylan Teuns is an awesome duo for manager kandesbuzler26.
| | | | | | | | | | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Eiking | Odd Christian | NOR | 29 | 81 | 78 | 74 | 76 | | | Fjellheim | Henrik Teslo | NOR | 22 | 67 | 65 | 66 | 66 | | | Jacobsen | Tormod | NOR | 30 | 73 | 71 | 70 | 67 | | | Lunder | Eirik | NOR | 24 | 66 | 78 | 67 | 77 | | | Skjerping | Kristoffer | NOR | 30 | 77 | 71 | 67 | 65 | | | Tjotta | Martin | NOR | 22 | 67 | 68 | 65 | 70 | | | Van Moer | Brent | BEL | 25 | 70 | 76 | 78 | 65 | | | Wandahl | Frederik | DEN | 22 | 70 | 70 | 72 | 68
Gjensidige begins their quest to bounce straight back to PCT. With Odd Christian Eiking they have the top favorite in their ranks for today.
He will be assisted by fellow countrymen Tormod Jacobsen and Kristoffer Skjerping.

The first PCT team in this preview (in total 4 teams). Glanbia brings a full lineup of young riders.
Three riders, all Irish, are making their pro debut: McCambridge, Ryan and Wade.
| | | | | | | | | | Hilcona Racing Team | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Aebi | Antoine | SWI | 25 | 72 | 72 | 70 | 71 | | | Bablidze | Irakli | GEO | 30 | 74 | 74 | 70 | 61 | | | Banzer | Gordian | LIE | 27 | 69 | 73 | 68 | 66 | | | Delco | Lorenzo | SWI | 28 | 73 | 75 | 74 | 72 | | | Huppertz | Joshua | GER | 29 | 71 | 67 | 69 | 71 | | | Kuypers | Gerben | BEL | 23 | 73 | 67 | 74 | 75 | | | Morin | Emmanuel | FRA | 28 | 78 | 75 | 73 | 76 | | | Richardson | Alexander | GBR | 33 | 64 | 69 | 72 | 65
Manager Noutisgood had a busy offseason constructing a new team. Immediately he brings a strong team to Gisborne.
Hilcona has Emmanuel Morin (last year at ELCO) as their man guy.
| | | | | | | | | | JEWA TIROL | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Grossschartner | Felix | AUT | 30 | 77 | 72 | 73 | 72 | | | Kabas | Maximilian | AUT | 22 | 68 | 68 | 70 | 66 | | | Laurance | Axel | FRA | 22 | 71 | 69 | 66 | 71 | | | Lienhard | Fabian | SWI | 29 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 76 | | | Muhlberger | Gregor | AUT | 29 | 75 | 69 | 64 | 74 | | | Pernsteiner | Hermann | AUT | 33 | 76 | 71 | 69 | 70 | | | Rabitsch | Stephan | AUT | 32 | 75 | 73 | 73 | 68
Another team who is making their debut is JEWA Tirol. Manager Blasing lined up 5 of his local guys.
Although we expect that Swiss Fabian Leinhard will lead the team in this race.
| | | | | | | | | | Kraftwerk Man Machine | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Destribois | Alex Ariya | LAO | 32 | 75 | 68 | 69 | 75 | | | Dieteren | Jan | GER | 30 | 77 | 75 | 70 | 66 | | | Helme | Sasu | FIN | 27 | 74 | 71 | 72 | 76 | | | Ho | Burr | HKG | 31 | 73 | 68 | 73 | 71 | | | Moazemi | Arvin | IRN | 33 | 77 | 70 | 70 | 71 | | | Sommer | Jan | SWI | 23 | 63 | 68 | 68 | 69 | | | Theorpanous | Stavros | CYP | 21 | 68 | 66 | 69 | 72 | | | Uhlig | Henri | GER | 22 | 61 | 63 | 68 | 73
Kraftwerk Man Machine kicks off their campaign here in New Zealand.
They have a solid squad at the start, but we miss an outspoken leader. Sommer, Theorpanous and Uhlig are making their debut.
| | | | | | | | | | Manada Coyote | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Cadena | Edgar | MEX | 23 | 67 | 74 | 64 | 64 | | | Gomez | German Dario | COL | 22 | 65 | 67 | 65 | 69 | | | Granados | Kevin | CRC | 22 | 67 | 68 | 69 | 71 | | | Jensen | Kristian Haugaard | DEN | 32 | 80 | 77 | 73 | 76 | | | Lavery | Philip | IRL | 33 | 75 | 74 | 70 | 76 | | | Mudarra | Pablo | CRC | 32 | 77 | 74 | 70 | 68 | | | Murillo | Luis Esteban | CRC | 22 | 65 | 69 | 69 | 70 | | | Ruiz | Bredio | PAN | 22 | 65 | 70 | 70 | 64
Just like Gjensidige, Manada relegated from PCT but they are immediately looking to score here.
Kristian Haugaard Jensen will definitely be a challenger for Eiking. With Lavery and Mudarra he has good support, all others are making their debut.
| | | | | | | | | | Mercatone Uno - Weba | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Blouwe | Louis | BEL | 24 | 75 | 69 | 72 | 72 | | | Buratti | Nicolo | ITA | 22 | 66 | 69 | 72 | 70 | | | Dewulf | Stan | BEL | 26 | 71 | 75 | 76 | 71 | | | Hagen | Edvald Boasson | NOR | 36 | 78 | 71 | 64 | 69 | | | Lilovski | Dobrin | BUL | 28 | 77 | 70 | 70 | 73 | | | Turner | Ben | GBR | 24 | 65 | 67 | 67 | 70
Mercatone Uno - Weba is a new Italian-Belgian team. Manager Ymeister has selected good old Boasson Hagen and Lilovski to captain their first race.
They only picked six riders for this race, so I guess they are focussing on other race to shine.
| | | | | | | | | | Podium Ambition | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Canty | Brendan | AUS | 31 | 73 | 71 | 71 | 67 | | | Gonzalez | Abner | PUR | 23 | 68 | 69 | 71 | 66 | | | Lagane | Christopher | MRI | 25 | 77 | 70 | 71 | 77 | | | Le Court | Kim | MRI | 27 | 76 | 67 | 70 | 66 | | | Mayer | Alexandre | MRI | 25 | 77 | 65 | 72 | 77 | | | Morales Ortega | Jacob | PUR | 24 | 71 | 69 | 70 | 71 | | | O'Connor | Ben | AUS | 28 | 70 | 70 | 72 | 68 | | | Pons | Gaetan | LUX | 31 | 73 | 73 | 74 | 76
Podium Ambition has big 'ambitions' for this season and they show it with their lineup for Gisborne.
TheManxMissile will be looking to Lagane and Mayer to score here. Using their energy level sparingly could be the biggest challenge.
| | | | | | | | | | Saeco | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Blanca Pareja | Nichol | PHI | 23 | 66 | 68 | 69 | 68 | | | Petrucci | Mattia | ITA | 23 | 66 | 66 | 64 | 66 | | | Silva | Pedro | POR | 22 | 67 | 74 | 71 | 71 | | | Skivild | Robin Juel | DEN | 22 | 67 | 65 | 70 | 67 | | | Ulissi | Diego | ITA | 35 | 76 | 77 | 65 | 69 | | | Vendrame | Andrea | ITA | 29 | 76 | 75 | 73 | 75 | | | Verre | Alessandro | ITA | 22 | 67 | 66 | 64 | 71 | | | Zordan | Andrea | ITA | 31 | 77 | 72 | 72 | 74
Another new Italian team with manager ShinyShinx, although it's full Italian this time.
With Vendrame and Zordan they got a good chance to score in their first outing. Apart from that, four riders are making their pro debut.
| | | | | | | | | | SEE Turtles | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Abreu | Jorge | VEN | 33 | 72 | 73 | 69 | 71 | | | Betancourt | Carlos | COL | 34 | 77 | 67 | 66 | 69 | | | Cepeda | Jefferson Alexander | ECU | 25 | 67 | 68 | 67 | 67 | | | Duchesne | Antoine | CAN | 32 | 77 | 73 | 72 | 79 | | | Ganjkhanlou | Mohammad | IRN | 26 | 64 | 69 | 67 | 75 | | | Lopez | Harold Martin | ECU | 23 | 66 | 64 | 66 | 63 | | | Obando | Bryan Raul | ECU | 22 | 67 | 63 | 67 | 62 | | | Trillini | Walter | ARG | 32 | 75 | 75 | 69 | 76
Another team who lines up for the first time: SEE Turtles and seancoll. We'll definitely see this team upfront in the time trials.
On this terrain in New Zealand they bring Canadian Antoine Duchesne as leader, with Trillini as backup. Don't be suprised if they manage to win their first race.
| | | | | | | | | | Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Ait El Abdia | Anass | MOR | 30 | 73 | 69 | 68 | 71 | | | Blikra | Havard | NOR | 32 | 75 | 72 | 70 | 72 | | | Felline | Fabio | ITA | 33 | 76 | 74 | 72 | 77 | | | Gogl | Michael | AUT | 30 | 76 | 74 | 72 | 75 | | | Hugentobler | Gregory | SWI | 32 | 78 | 70 | 69 | 76 | | | Jaramillo | Daniel Alexander | COL | 32 | 75 | 70 | 69 | 76 | | | Rota | Lorenzo | ITA | 28 | 76 | 76 | 74 | 71 | | | Van Heerden | Eddie | RSA | 29 | 75 | 68 | 70 | 74
Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh is another proof that the CT level gets higher. For a new team they have incredible depth on this terrain.
Felline could be their leader, but other teams should keep an eye on Hugentobler, Gogl and Rota as well! Manager Caspi has some cards to play with.
| | | | | | | | | | Spark-BNZ Racing | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Brandt | Tyler | USA | 33 | 68 | 72 | 67 | 64 | | | Klahan | Noppachai | THA | 23 | 66 | 67 | 67 | 68 | | | Quick | Blake | AUS | 23 | 61 | 65 | 66 | 69 | | | Ratiy | Vadim | UKR | 35 | 66 | 64 | 67 | 52 | | | Rodriguez | Carlos | ESP | 22 | 67 | 68 | 69 | 69 | | | Schleck | Jordan | UGA | 27 | 73 | 71 | 71 | 73 | | | Watts | Kiaan | NZL | 22 | 65 | 62 | 72 | 66 | | | Yates | Joel | NZL | 27 | 78 | 77 | 74 | 69
Newly promoted Spark-BNZ Racing are ofcourse eager to participate in their home race. It's the debut for coming superstar Carlos Rodriguez and three other youngsters.
Local Joel Yates has a good shot to score here, although his acceleration could be below par.
| | | | | | | | | | Stela-Vita | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Freuler | Jan-Andre | SWI | 31 | 75 | 73 | 75 | 75 | | | Goos | Marc | NED | 33 | 73 | 77 | 74 | 72 | | | Groselj | Ziga | SLO | 30 | 75 | 72 | 73 | 72 | | | Luchshenko | Sergey | KAZ | 29 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 75 | | | McCutcheon | Connor | USA | 32 | 72 | 74 | 73 | 73 | | | Urcelay | Adria | AND | 29 | 70 | 71 | 67 | 71 | | | Villella | Davide | ITA | 32 | 77 | 72 | 74 | 80 | | | Wohrer | David | AUT | 33 | 73 | 66 | 70 | 71
Just like Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh, Stela - Vita is another well constructed new team. Davide Villella looks like the main leader, he came over from Isostar.
With Sergey Luchshenko, they also have someone who finished on the podium last year.
| | | | | | | | | | Strava | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Hansen | Jesper | DEN | 33 | 74 | 74 | 67 | 73 | | | Maesen | William | BEL | 32 | 72 | 71 | 73 | 60 | | | Nielsen | Joanis Albert | FAR | 30 | 67 | 71 | 75 | 71 | | | Sbaragli | Kristian | ITA | 33 | 65 | 74 | 68 | 76 | | | Sirironnachai | Sarawut | THA | 31 | 77 | 77 | 74 | 73 | | | Tarvis | Peeter | EST | 30 | 74 | 74 | 73 | 72
Strava have selected only six riders for this race. With Sarawut Sirironnachai they can't be underestimated though.
He will be supported by a crew of experienced riders, all over 30. Sirironnachai is the only newcomer by the way, acquired from King Power.
| | | | | | | | | | Team Würth MODYF | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Finkst | Tilen | SLO | 28 | 67 | 69 | 69 | 70 | | | Grosser | Aaron | GER | 27 | 74 | 74 | 72 | 75 | | | Heinrich | Nicolas | GER | 22 | 59 | 63 | 72 | 72 | | | Hindley | Jai | AUS | 27 | 76 | 75 | 72 | 73 | | | Koch | Jonas | GER | 30 | 70 | 71 | 74 | 73 | | | La Lavandier | Mathieu | FRA | 31 | 73 | 73 | 70 | 63 | | | Magnussen | Davur | FAR | 31 | 69 | 66 | 72 | 70 | | | Vangheluwe | Warre | BEL | 22 | 61 | 68 | 71 | 69
Team Würth MODYF did some interesting moves in the offseason. For this race, Ezeefreak will count on Jai Hindley to deliver.
Talents like Vangheluwe and Heinrich are making their debut here.
| | | | | | | | | | Trans Looney Tunes | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | HL | ST | RS | AC | | | Jang | Gyung Gu | KOR | 33 | 75 | 70 | 68 | 72 | | | Munoz | Cristian | COL | 27 | 73 | 67 | 69 | 70 | | | Murn | Bostjan | FRA | 22 | 65 | 71 | 72 | 66 | | | Peng | Yuan Tan | TPE | 30 | 64 | 74 | 73 | 73 | | | Piaskowy | Emanuel | POL | 32 | 72 | 73 | 70 | 68 | | | Pibernik | Luka | SLO | 30 | 76 | 76 | 68 | 74 | | | Senyenov | Roman | KAZ | 30 | 77 | 68 | 73 | 73 | | | Tulett | Ben | GBR | 22 | 65 | 68 | 69 | 68

I am not sure how often I'll be saying this during the season ahead but I am looking for challenging the victory here. Hopefully KHJ is up to the task. But again, learning from my first 2 seasons around the MG circuit I learned to temper my expectations so I don't fall from a very tall horse (as it happened to me in the past).
Thank you very much for the awesome preview and good luck to all!

Excited to see Rodriguez in action! Yates has his first opportunity to lead the hill squad and I’m really excited to see how he does!
It’s going to be weird seeing Edmondson and Altanzul in different colours but excited to see how they go!

Awesome preview, as we are all ready to get the 2023 campaign going.
Same as DarkWolf for me, i've been hurt to many times. We'll take what we get here.

Originally planned to try and be competitive in C2 races but in the end I needed all the XP for my young guns.
Hoping to show the colours at least

Really looking forward to the race and hopes for a top-10.
I think Jaramillo is a bigger threat than Rota, but Felline is indeed our intended leader.
Thanks for the preview

The puncheur field looks really interesting in CT this year, with lots of different types of riders in contention. Best of luck to everyone, especially the new teams. Enjoy your first race!

Keeping expectations in check for this one. It's both long and an uphill finish, so doesn't play to our strengths.
Immediate debuts for Pons, Canty & O'Connor - I had spare RD for both Aussies, so sending them to a home race is fun for RP. Hopefully we can kick the year off in the breakaway, then it's just seeing how well we do at the finish. Top10 would be ideal, but any scoring i'll be happy with.
Ultimately, lets just go! Racing time!

An amazing preview! Hoping my young guys consider joining the early break so Duchesne can rest in the peloton for the first 150km.
Excited to have the racing start!

Welcome back to the best of the divisions! What a competition we'll see here in New Zealand with such a packed field of puncheurs. I'm glad we're at the start with two of the favourites and lots of strong support for them, it'll be pretty necessary as we start our season with our first goal race, aiming for a Top 5 result, which seems realistic though far from guaranteed.
So good luck to all of you (not just here) and big thanks to laurens for the really nice preview / team introduction.

Strange to see the CT season kick off without us. Like seeing McCormick old boy McCutcheon getting a ride. Good luck to all the new teams on their debut.
I like Duchesne for this race if Eiking and KHJ can't get a gap.

The race really matched up with the expectations with all those attacks and counterattack. If that's what we can expect from a division stacked with puncheurs it will be a thrilling season in CT. Also thanks to WJ for his great report.
Congratulations to Imladrik for his great start to the season, at least a French team took the win. 7th for APP is okay and though that means we've missed our first season goal already, it's only by a small margin and that's already better than last season by miles. Apart from that it's just fun to see Teuns and APP actively fighting for the big results, even more so as our new jersey looks even better in-race (thanks again to Ezee).

Exciting race indeed, thanks for the nice report! Bordeaux Metropole win on the very last day of the previous season, and then follow it up with a win on the first day of the new one, congrats Imladrik Very impressive performance by Lushchenko as well, and with Lagane in third, it's cool to see that the riders who this race is kinda made for - puncheurs with a strong sprint - actually come out on top. In that sense, Paret-Peintre is a bit disappointing, but the effort he put in before the finish shows there, I guess. Same for Jensen on a larger scale. But as expected, the hilly races in CT should be really entertaining all year!

Not really the start I wanted for my c2 team but still only 1 race. Hopefully they can improve!
Congrats to the winner and good to see Edmondson on the attack!

Yes!
All worked out perfectly I think: Serrano launching the break to avoid us any work in the pack, Pacher on a good day I guess, able to hold on and to sprint to victory, with Rodriguez & Lafay working for him and managing to take two top 20.
Let's hope we can race like this in Plouay too.
Indeed, very happy to continue on the season's end pace. Let's see how we fare on the next!
Thank you Laurens for the preview, and whitejersey for the report.

Thanks to whitejersey for a fantastic report.
Congrats to Imladrik for the win.
Happy for Kraftwerk to not have a zero pointer with Destribois in 12th.
