Hello guys (and girls). I've been playing PCM for years now and until today I still don't know what stamina and resistance exactly do for the rider. I've been reading a lot of different explanations on the web and it still doesn't make any sense. Like stamina is very important to classic riders like Alaphilippe, Fuglsang, Van Aert and van der Poel I presume? But I'm not sure what resistance exactly does for the rider. I've read that it affects the red bar. So it's very important for sprinters and riders like Alaphilippe and van der Poel who attack a lot I guess? Can please someone explain to me the difference between the two? Thanks a lot!

In a short explanation Stamina is mostly important for long stages or races, in current PCM it affects the whole stage/race, it's very helpful if the race is ridden hard from start to finish but specially important after the distance goes above 200Km, the longer the more stamina matters. (the more stamina the slower the green bar goes down)

Resistance influenciates most other characteristics, it's essentially the "having a big engine", resistance makes no difference when the pace is low but I believe it helps when the pace is high, like a boost. If a rider A has same skills as B but has +20 RES then he'll generally be a little better whenever the pace is high, be it in flat terrain or mountains. (the more resistance the slower yellow bar goes down, but of course it's only a secondary skill, the main attributes matter the most)

But it's all in the game if you hover the mouse over the attributes.

Stamina is the green bar for aerobic efforts.
Resistance is the yellow for anaerobic efforts.
Acceleration is the red for vo2 max and neuromuscular efforts.

You consume the green bar in every circumstance
the yellow bar from effort 61 upwards
the red for effort 85+, so hills, attacks, sprints.

Stamina also affects the other two. If you have poor stamina and you consumed a lot of the green bar, your speed will be a lot lower at all efforts than if you had good stamina and a lot more left of the green bar.

So for a one-day specialist stamina is very important, because Monuments are 260+ km races. You want every bar to decrease as slowly as possible to have something at the business end of the race.

But for a GT rider it's less important, because GT stages are shorter and are about climbing at 70-80 (yellow bar) effort. For him resistance and recovery is more important than stamina or acceleration.

Acceleration is for guys who make a lot of important red bar efforts. So sprinters, punchers and riders who like to attack, like you said.

Unlike stamina, resistance doesn't influence other skills. It only infuences how fast the yellow bar drains.
Everything else being equal, you ride with the same speed if you have eg. 75 flat whether you have 60 or 80 resistance. The only difference is that the rider with 80 resistance can do it for much longer if the effort is higher than 61.

Resistance influences the duration of the RED bar
