Monterrey TTT
Welcome to Mexico for one of the most unique events on the C1 calendar - the Monterrey TTT. 11 PCT teams and 3 CT teams are here to try and take the crown won by Reddit last season, with cycleYorkshire the clear favourites based purely upon Time Trialing ability. However, their collective weakness going up hill may work against them and Glanbia Foods. Instead, we could see teams with more well rounded lineups such as UBS, Duolingo, Desigual and Valio - Viking Genetics coming to the fore depending on how the climb influences the result.

Obviously, we're not here, but it will indeed be interesting to see how much of an impact the climb has on the result. Maybe we'll even fancy our chances for some points next year
Thanks for your huge reporting work lately btw!

Agree with the entire post.
I personally think Desigual are the favourites.

The TTT squad minus Uran obviously, so not in our strongest formation and definitely some riders who don't like the climb. But with the startlist size we are guaranteed points, so this can't possibly end in failure

Looks like a good opportunity to score some needed points. Cycleyorkshire as always the team to beat, but the climb in the middle could disrupt that natural favouritism.
Thanks for the detailed table. Good luck everyone

Looking forward to this outing. While ISA - Hexacta can't field any premium name TT-ist, we have good depth in our 8-man squad. Planning for this event, most signficiantly we have no rider with less than 69 hill present (could be important even on the initial ramp in first km or 2), and similarly if we remove Vandousselaere from the equation, solid mountain capability. An optimal strategy would be to burn Vandousselaere up over the 1st 2 time-checks and let him park up at the foot of the mid-stage climb. Unlikely that PCM AI can reach such conclusions, so lets see how much of a dead-weight he becomes on and after the climb at the 2nd time check.
On a pan-flat course, cycleyorkshire would be odds-on favourites - far from clear that this particular course will deliver that outcome however. Like valverde, I see Desigual as pre-race favourites. Look forward to the report to see how it plays out!

Well there had to be a dud race sometime. Have to say the result was more than disappointing.

Congrats to Mre on the win! This was a fun race to follow. I guess the climbing stats were critical here. I'm content with 3rd. Big surprise has to be cycleYorkshire, not sure what to make of that.

What a ride from the boys! And, not to be overlooked, Taylor Newton has finally won something in his man-game career!

Yup climbing seems to have had a great deal of an impact here. I was hoping to get a podium place, but 4th seems about right.
Pretty sweet to finally see our custom NC jerseys on the road! Thanks for that and the concise report jph!
Congratulations Mre! Well deserved!
Tough result for ryant. A top5 at the very least should have been on the cards, but those uphill sections seriously took a toll on them.

6th for our lads here in Monterey for the 2nd season running. That is a pretty decent return given we rely on all-rounders here, TT's not being an area of focus at ISA - Hexacta.
Race played out somewhat to pre-race expectations in terms of the importance of the undulations on the parcours. Congrats to MrE on the prestigious victory and thanks to jph for the reporting.
