Last season was the inaugural edition of this race, with Jerome Baugnies coming out victorious. He's back again to defend his crown, but so is the who's who of PCT and a bit of CT cobbles to boot.
The course is relatively flat for the first half, with three short climbs breaking the monotone of the riders. The second half is where all the action is expected to be. A total of 21 cobbled sectors, situated on undulating terrain, will make for an interesting challenge to the peloton. The course needs a bit of flat, puncher and sprinting capability, on top of the obvious cobblestone skills to be successful. Who'll come out on top remains the question to be answered.

We should get used to seeing Summerhill's name at the top of the favourites' list of PCT cobbles races, because, simply put, he is the best cobbles rider in the division. This race is no different, and he combines good puncher skills and a decent sprint to boot.
Vanspeybrouck, fresh of his win in De Panne, is touted to be the nearest challenger, and he's just short of all the vital skills of his rival. He does have superior stamina though, which could become useful in a long-ish race like this.
Zepuntke and Stallaert are the others tipped to put in the strongest challenge to the above duo. Zepuntke is the better cobbler and is slightly better on the climbs. Stallaert's strength is his pace, and he'll be one of the leading proponents of the race coming down to a reduced bunch sprint.
Up and comer Spengler is still finding his feet against the established big-guns, and will hope to have a breakthrough moment in this race. He still has some way to go in terms of support skills to really make a challenge for the win, but with a bit of luck a Top 5 and even a podium would not be out of reach.
Vanbilsen, Baugnies and Nolf, three seasoned campaigners, and almost identically strong northern classics riders, will also be looking to target a Top 5 or even a Top 3 finish. Vanbilsen is the stronger finisher while Baugnies is quite capable on the hills. Nolf is, overall, the weakest of the trio.
Leading the flag for the Continental division are Kasperkiewicz and Van Keirsbulck, both good northern classics riders, but both perhaps strong enough only to challenge for a Top 10 place in this race.
Ferreira outperformed expectations in De Panne and will be hoping for a repeat of the same, as he is, on paper, not expected to challenge the big-wigs.
Breen would be looking to improve his team's performance in recent cobbles races. He has decent overall abilities to help him upset the odds.

A lot of super-domestiques find themselves in the list of outsiders. Their main role would be to guide their leader into a good position, but given the right circumstances could find themselves in line to challenge for a good placing. The likes of Sinkeldam and Tsatevich will be hoping to use the undulations and their strength to their advantage.

Not likely that Ferreira will do well this time, I would be happy with anything inside top20. A mix of MO/HILL/FLAT/RES will play in and he is far form the best at those.

Hopefully we can kick our season into gear with a surprise result here and both leaders performing. If it stays together as Le Samyn can do Rowe is there for the sprint, otherwise the on and off up and down could suit Debesay.

We already won De Panne, so I shouldn't get greedy. That being said, I want the best result possible, and he should be able to get a top 5 you'd think. Outside top 10 is still a failure though, one win doesn't change that.

VSB with a disappointing return. Those wide sprints without trains are always a crap shoot, but he has to be more aggressive in a race like this.

Bad tactics from Summerhill, if he had used his bullets with Stallaert win was possible, but not the way he did so. Bad, but 6th isn't a disaster seeing how big the group was. Thanks Abhsishek for the report and congratz Viking!

Another very good performance from Breen, and a nice way to strike back after things didn't quite go his way in De Panne. Good team effort overall with three guys in the top 20. Particularly impressed by Lobato
