Ras Taiteann
Since 2009 the Ras Taiteann has been featured on the calender on and off, it's had 8th different winners ranging from Goss last year to Frank Schleck in 2011. As we are getting ready for the 10th anniversary since the first time, so is Ireland for this 3 day sprinter showdown. Around Ireland, the race is referred to as The Rás. By naming the race Rás Tailteann the original organisers were associating the cycle race with the Tailteann Games, a Gaelic festival in early medieval Ireland. A fitting assocition as the gladiators of the peleton is ready to go Braveheart on each other for 3 days straight.
The race is on paper a sprinters paradise, with long flat roads without much hilly terrain. So coming into this race, the clear favorite is Degenkolb John closely followed by Avelino Oscar and the Worlds B race winner Ahlstrand Jonas. However, the last day goes more up and down troughout the day meaning that the ability to recover during the day can make Guarnieri Jacobo a dangerous man on the last day if hes been able to stick his front wheel in the top spots the days prior to the last day.
Avelino Oscar comes into this race having won it before, back in 2016. He took the overall and the 4th stage of the race. Ahlstrand Jonas, Vanderbiest Romain, Mohs Erik, Cavendish Mark, Ciolek Gerald, Vantomme Maxime, Kupfernagel Danilo, Granjel Cabrera Raul and Rowe Matt also knows how it feels to win in Ireland, they all have won stages here before.
It's also worth mentioning that so far this season we have seen more and more late attacks going all the way to the line. So the teams arriving in Ireland hoping to have their sprinters fight for stages and the overall, need to look out for late surges from the likes of Brockhoff Jan and Vanbilsen Kenneth.

Not getting anything from the sprints for sure, indeed a Vanbilsen attack will be my best chance for points.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yeh so not overly confident. Insanely strong field. We are going to need more then a miracle to score some decent points here.
Good luck everyone!

Even with the full sprint squad, it's looking like this will be a fruitful race, judging by the preview. Hope I'm wrong
Thanks for the preview hillis

Hoping for Avelino to bring his A game here, just like he did in the past. Looking forward to see what's in store.
Cheers for the preview Tamijo and hillis!

And now I remember why I'm focusing on the C2 and C2HC races
Given there are 20 sprinters listed there with 80SPR or better, I find it hard to believe that 1 man will dominate all 3 stages.
I don't see the BotD surviving but late attacks could prove fruitful.
Just hoping Moser is able to do well on 1 stage and take a half-decent GC. Then, if one of my young fellas does well in the U25 classification we'll be sure to take some points away.
At the very least, it should be an interesting race to follow!

Fear I may have made a race planning error in using Holloway days on these C1 races, failed to allow for the much greater depth of the fields. On the other hand it worked pretty well Down Under. So may our luck continue.
With S1 being long and S3 pretty bumpy I think the pack will split on at least one of them and then hoping secondary stats will be important. Agree those high flat outsiders have a good shot.
Thanks for the preview.

We've got a strong team for this race... I hope that is enough for us to do pretty well here :S

Hope we can do as well as we did last year here, though having a six-man team won't make it easy. Degenkolb and Ahlstrand will be hard to beat, but hope Guarnieri can fight for that last podium spot.

In b4 viking mentions Ahlstrand in the wrong jersey. We'll get it fixed for march races (hopefully). Grats to Delvaux on the win!
