I've run 2 tests and they seem to be compatible. Can't guarantee it fully though. Also note that if you want to copy variants, make sure that you've also copied over the necessary Isolated Objects

i have 7 packs of variants that i used in version 2017. i'll try
pd: i did my first season, variants used in 2017 version works fine.
pd2: 2nd season, variants still works fine. Giro 2012, and Vuelta 2010 charged as a variant.
pd3: 3rd season, varians still works. Giro 2016/TdF 2017/Vuelta 2017.

And surrounding 2.1 and 2.2 races that aren't in the official release? Many that came in the 2017 variants pack are exciting races and bring a lot more depth to the calendar, you know if they also work or only checked the main ones?

i don't check it. only main races. but i used a pack of variant of an italian web. i think if my pack works, the variant pack of pcmdaily will do |

They're, simply said, isolated objects  . Basically, whenever a stagemaker adds a single object to their stage, such as a boat, a single house, a cow or whatever, this is an isolated object. To copy these over, you need to copy over all files in 3D\Landscapes\Isolated Objects from PCM17 to PCM18 (assuming you have the expansion pack). No need to overwrite. Some stagemakers add their own made Isolated Objects to stages, so in order to make the game load these this step is necessary.

I questioned over if 2.1/2.2 variants would work.. maybe that wasn´t the issue I thought. The variants are probably fine but those races aren't in the game, I've put the content of the dowloads onto the CM_stages folder (on common) but those stages aren't in any DB of mine (can't play them).. Is that an issue or it's just explained cause those races aren't in the official release?

If you want to add new races you'll also have to add them in the cdb file

It's because they aren't in the DB you are using, You can add them to the DB using the fast editor or excel editor. (links to both are in the latest downloads on the right hand side)
I think this should still be applicable but I don't have the new game yet to check if things have changed.

Ah thanks guys! Do I have to do them one by one tho or can I copy the races I want from PCM17 Expansion Pack? (and probably not, but is it safe to copy everything from the Expansion Pack DB, would be much much faster to add all races, which are already the exact 2018 calendar  )

Copying things from the PCM17DB to the PCM18DB is possible, if a little risky.
It's probably safer to use the excel editor, and copy the PCM17EP races and stages column to a new excel document, then open the 2018DB in the Excel editor and copy them across one column at a time, to make sure that they are in the same order as normally small things change in the tables structure between games.
But it should work if you are careful, just make sure to save it under a different filename incase it doesn't so you haven't lost anything and can still do it one by one if it doesn't work.

PCM17 variants seem to be working on the 18. In this case, we pretty much have all World Tour (except Guangxi and Vuelta a Espana) and some 2.HC/2.1 races already created |

Hm, why rush things guys ?
Guangxi was made by Skip in pcm17 version and it should work in the pcm18 world as far as I know.
Still why stress up to create in pcm18 mode, when pcm17 works just as well even for pcm18. OK some new IBs, I know, but still most races doesn't really need them, or they are easily incorperated into pcm17 as so many great free IBs.
