I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, I didn't see this being brought up on this forum yet however.
I'm aware that every year the new PCM gets announced later and later. Nonetheless I feel like we should've heard something by now, since it's supposed to be released by mid June.
I've been on a PCM-hiatus in the past but I'm starting to feel a potential PCM-renaissance in me.
Just wondering if anybody knows more, or is even involved in beta testing.
Cheers

Their closed beta started in March I think.
Less news this season indeed but should come again for the TdF. |

I can't find it now, but Superrider posted a link confirming release date and a short text about the new game as well, promising 'improved transfers', 'more realistic development in pro cyclist' and some changes in sprints I believe.

If you're familiar with French or Google Translate you might want to check this thread
https://legruppet...9#p1296189
Edit: It basically confirms what trek says: more advanced system of transfers and contract negotiations, more detailed development in Pro Cyclist with more options of personalizing your rider, a more realistic and aggresive AI and a more realistic feeling (eg with bigger breaks in some stages)

Thanks guys. Sounds quite promising, although every year AI improvements have been advertised to a rather disappointing result

As I'm french, here are some informations on the game from a french forum not really serious but quite interesting → https://www.jeuxvi...-image.htm
This isn't official but it contains some stuff about the beta. I can't confirm if it's true or not.
https://www.jeuxvi.../928132726 → It seems to be possible to have huge breakaways, with 40-50 riders on mountain stages, but the AI of the leaders seems to struggle as they don't take initiatives.
https://www.jeuxvi.../928178278 → It seems to be the same on cobbled stages.
https://www.jeuxvi.../928476470 → The leader's behaviour seems to be inconstant and not improved from the previous games, depending on the played stage.

the console version seems more entertaining to me because of classics and development of me in-game
the pc version only thing sounds interesting the double specialization in pro cyclist, meaning me
me,me,me

this seems a very good improvement, with added options that you really need to manage in the best way your strategy to build the team.
This may be solve the problem of focusing on few riders that your budget allows and then after they refuse you have no valid alternatives which already signed for other teams

No set salary limit per rider: Simple change, although will make little difference in practice i feel. Could be good for more nationality specific careers needing to bag one star rider.
Role of cyclist: This wasn't already part of it? Then why was it something already asked for in negotiations? Either it's not a change or Cyanide have had a more broken system than i thought, which is bad in both cases...
Interest: Surely this comes as a function of wage and role offered? Or we're adding in some form of team reputation system? Unless they simply mean, is in PT for big name riders which is hardly a big deal...
Cylist Preference: I think this can be good, some riders wanting to be on national based teams and others who don't care. But when they start the explanation with "some want to be in an important role", that's the same Role of Cyclist already mentioned.
Multiple negoatiations: This was already a thing? Did Cyanide take this out in PCM17?
New Interface: Every single thing mentioned here already existed, nothing new at all. But i guess it has a new skin, like everything in PCM every year.
Conclusion: Nationality of team + rider might make a difference to some riders. Everything else is already in the game.
Result: Incredible dissapointment

Here's a different way to breakdown the new information:-
Salary Limitation
PCM 10: There was a maximum salary you could offer. This was defined by the riders AVG or your remaining budget, whichever was smaller. note, AVG limit never interfered with a riders desire, only remaining budget would make a difference
PCM 18: There is a maximum salary you can offer, this is limited by whatever your remaining budget is.
Role of Cyclist
PCM 10: The cyclists wanted a certain Role. If you did not offer that role, they would not sign.
PCM 18: The cyclists want a certain Role. If you do not offer that role, they will not sign.
Interest
PCM 10: Interest was calculated by a combination of Wage, Role + Contract Length meeting a riders desire
PCM 18: Interest might be related to a repuation system? Or to division? Or to nationality? Or by a combination of Wage, Role + Contract Length.
Cyclist Preference
PCM 10: Cyclists wanted a certain Wage, Role, Contract Length + Division
PCM 18: Cyclists want a certain Wage, Role, Contract Length, Division and Team Nationality.
Multiple Proposals
PCM 10: You can make as many proposals to a rider as you want until they sign with a team
PCM 18: You can make as many proposals to a rider as you want until they get pissed
Interface
PCM 10: You can see you next years budget, all your riders contract lengths, you comitted spend, and who you are talking with
PCM 18: You can see you next years budget, all your riders contract lengths, you comitted spend, and who you are talking with
In 8 years, Cyanide has successfully added Nationality and possibly repuation influence to negotiations.
Please correct me if i'm wrong... but i can see why i moved away from playing PCM for 200+hours a year to FM

They removed the role aspect a while ago, so that's basically just a "look at this thing we deleted from the game for no reason being brought back".
And I was always under the impression that the team reputation played a part in contract negotiation, especially when the upper wage limit was rather low and thus the rider must've had many similar offers to choose from.
And we have always been able to "make multiple proposals", although in reality that has just meant confirming the same contract offer every. single. day. from June 21st to late July. I hope the patience system will at least limit that, because it was incredibly annoying to get interrupted by 10 negotiation updates 40 days in a row over summer, especially when you just wanted to fast forward.
So the only new thing is the cyclist preferences thing, which we might possibly never see on our screen as it could be just a hidden algorithm.

I think the biggest improvement is that the interest seems to be shown, in last editions you don't know if you are close to the rider idea or he will never sign for you, and that can divert a lot you in building the team
I didn't know that the role was a part of the negotiations before pcm14 because that was my first, and I think is nice that this is back

i can see why i moved away from playing PCM for 200+hours a year to FM
Do you mean Football Manager? Not exactly what I'd call an example for other sport series... Same as PCM: the exact same game year after year after year... except they sometimes remove something that worked or add something that doesn't work, making that same game actually... worse.
This is the problem with games that don't have any rival in their niche. They have no reason to improve, they have X guaranteed sales every year no matter what they deliver.
Anyway, I hope they really improve the transfer system. Right now is just ridiculous, maybe the worst gameplay system I have never ever seen in any game of any platform or genre. |

Yes i mean Football Manager. It doesn't revolutionise year-on-year but FM has done a really good job of making a detailed sports management game.
In FM transfers are complex! From the starting point of detailed offers with multiple year long clauses, and being able to influence a players desire to leave with large offers. Through to contract negotiations which again include many many clauses. Then there's a real system of player influence, which is affected by your club stature, your repuatiotion as a manager, who else is at the club as a player or staff member, what other teams are interested etc etc.
Compared to PCM's ridiculous simplicity and lack of realism... yes i'll happily put hundreds of hours into FM over PCM as not other sports sim comes close.
And what Cyanide has said so far, transfers sound exactly the same as they did back on PCM10...

Totally agree, shameful, regrettable and they continue doing no advances because of us, because we are really stupid if we continue buying the game.
We have to be demanding consumers not conformists.
That's the real problema.

In some ways, PCM 2013/14/15 were better. Unfortunately those games were (on my pc) unstable. PCM 2017 didn't have that problem |
