Deutschland Tour Discussion

August starts with a PTHC stage race in Germany; Deutschland Tour. Eight stages through Germany (and a stage with finish in France) with options for almost every type of cyclist. 4 flat stages, 2 hilly and 2 mountain stages, so a all-rounded rider will be the one taking the GC win here.

For that purpouse is here pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fes.png Lecuisinier, who must be considered as the biggest favourite for the win, being the best climber, and not being weaker than the rest of favourites in the hills. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/min.png Úran and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pum.png Herklotz are two similar riders to the Frenchman, but the Colombian is slightly weaker in hills and Herklotz in mountain, although the German's support can be better, with a rider like pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pum.png Nerz as lieutenant.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ers.png Kudus and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/spy.png Wellens are another two climbers who can do decently in the hills, but they have another weaknesses that should imped them to beat the other 3 riders.

Berg's duo are two pure climbers, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bgc.png Marquez and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bgc.png Nazaret, who might struggle to get a good GC result if the hilly stages turn out to be really hard for them. Their most rounded climber is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bgc.png Chiarello, but he's also the worst of them. In any case, you can expect Berg to win the Teams classification and put at least two riders in the GC top10

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Olivier and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ubs.png Schelling are other two threats for a top5/podium place. They aren't strong enough in any terrain to get an advantage on other riders, but they aren't much worse than other contenders, so they are safe bets for finishing in the top10. And pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Roche, while being much weaker in high mountain that the rest of GC favourites, if he can win some time in the hilly stages, he'll be up there in the GC fight

Surprinsing weak sprinting field, given that sprinters have four chances to get a stage win, especially no PT team sending a strong sprinter here, so all the favourites for the flat stages are from PCT teams. The two best sprinters miles ahead of anyone else are pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/kmm.png Cavendish and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ssc.png Guerao. Both riders have all the support for the flat stages, with decent trains, same as Fablok with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Guardini, but the Italian doesn't have their top speed.

There are two stages for puncheurs and a chance for a surprise GC result if they get some gaps in those hilly stages, but not too many great puncheurs are here. The best is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/pum.png Kelderman, as Puma is sending everything they have for their home race, while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fes.png Koretzky and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Boswell are other two puncheur who should fight for those stage wins. Watch out for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Roche, who could have a great GC given his abilities and if the hilly stages aren't suited for pure puncheurs, he might use his better climbing abilities to out-perform the better puncheurs

So a Top 5 by Wellens, please.
Cort Nielsen and Lövkvist somewhere around Top 25.

Reimer to surprise in the sprints. Smile

Thanks for preview!

The part of the season we've been waiting for has finally arrived!

Herklotz has impeccable support and the skills to win this race on home soil with a couple of good rides. The mountain stages shouldn't be hard enough to give Lecuisinier and Uran huge advantages with just +1mo.
At the very least, we expect a podium finish. Kudus and Wellens might be right in the mix though, so there's absolutely no margin of error.

Nerz as the lieutenant will hopefully shred the race to pieces or ensure nobody gets away too far with Herklotz in his wheel, while still trying to finish Top 10 overall.
Sending Kelderman here is obviously a risk. Since the hilly stages are probably rather inselective up until the final uphill sprint though, I do hope he will simply have great positioning at the front and use his punch, that way he shouldn't be too disruptive.

I wish I could've sent Ciolek here, but it was a hassle with his RD. With Moscow at least offering some chance for good points in return, and with an even more packed team of stars here probably leading to too many conflicts, I hope it wasn't a horrible decision.
Also, I could imagine PCM AI messing up horribly if he had been in the leaders jersey in the hilly stage. The GC has the utmost priority.

Hard to predict a winner, there isn't really 1 stand-out rider. This is one of my botched goals as I chose it for a top-5, but ended up having to send Schelling here rather than Amador. A top 10 is definitely possible though. I'm happy the sprint field is relatively weak as it should allow Reinhardt to contest the sprints.

Nice preview, looking forward to the race!

8 wasted race days for us coming up.
Some breakaway action would be nice.

Was waiting for a stronger startlist, so we have the possibility of a good race with the duo Marquez/Nazaret ready to follow a successful season.
Silvestre despite not being one of the best can in a good day fight for a stage victory.

Several potential winners here, but a better starting lineup for us, than anticipated.

Lecuisinier still have a top 3 GC goal here, and with Koretzky and Vasyliv aswell we have to get a good run.

I suspect that Herklotz will end up winning here. Marquez for 2nd I think.

Not sure we'd actually score here but I am certain we should at least be on the startlist

Your team is defenitely in the race. It was a mistake ehile doing the startlist photos. You can see that Aegon, Puma are in both photos. Sorry for that Embarassed

I'll change the startlist photos asap

Selected this race for Denifl but then noticed he can’t take part due to the Austria clash. Looking at the startlist he probably would have done well. Now Rodrigues gets his first chance to lead a race this season, hope he can do well.
Brought Guerao for the sprints and looking at the sprinting field that could have been a very good decision, with Cavendish the only other (very) big name present. Hope Guerao could conserve his early season sprinting form.

While no longer being a German team, this race always has some special bonus for my team here.

That said, only stage racer #3 here as leader but without a TT, I just had to give Olivier the opportunity to lead and by the look of it something between 5-10 is possible. In especially when he gains a bit on the hilly stuff on other climbers.

Looking forward to this race.

SportingNonsense
Very nice field for Kudus and a race profile that should suit him, hopefully a good race, with Top 5 a clear target.

No. Pfft

Quite a PCT friendly PT starting field here.

Lecuisinier, Herklotz, Wellens, Olivier, Aru surely not the non-plus-ultra and clearly could have been stronger as in other PTHC events.

We're at the point of the season where the rankings have shaped quite well so its time to cheer for everyone who isnt near Evonik in the PT rankings which means: go PCT teams, go Lecuisinier! Please stop Herklotz from winning Pfft
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

A race of great important to us.

- First of all, our final race goal for a top 5 GC.
- We dropped to 23rd, over 100 points below safe haven without having considerably less racedays.
- Second-a-last race for Úran, and it looks like a solid point scoring opportunity.
- A pretty weak opposition for a PTHC race, some extra bonus points on the line.

It's now or never for the Minions.

Time to hunt for stage wins! Don't think Roche will get a good GC, because of his 77 MO
