Lisbon Classic
On paper the route here looks like it should suit those sprinters who can get over a hill reasonably well and still produce a fast finish. However past results have shown that this can quite easily turn into a race for the puncheurs, or for the strongmen of the peloton. Without further ado, let's look at the favourites:

I guess the profile should favour Van Staeyen, Demare, Van der Lijke.
So I hope Degenkolb/Swift will go for it.
Top5 is all I want here since the startlist is impressive. Hopefully my team isn`t forming a train as Swift is faster when sitting behind Degenkolb. That said Van der Sanden and Sbaragli both here for a decent one if needed. |

Expectations? None. Hopes, sure... Vanderbiest may be able to top 10, however he's not the most amazing sprinter. Maybe Nepomnyachsniy can surprise from an early break or something though.

We really got a top, top team here with Kristoff and Boasson Hagen at the helm, but also great riders in Oss, Golas, Breen and even Dyrnes as potential riders for a good result in addition to (hopefully) being great domestiques.
I just hope we can finally pull of a great result again, and we got the team for it. We also have history on our side, as Boasson Hagen plus a sprinter has worked well here in previous editions. Hopefully this one won't be an exception, as it hurts all the more to come away from a race with nothing when the team on paper is great
Though, for the win I fancy Ignatiev with a late attack or Van Stayen in some kind of a sprint.
Looking a lot forward to the report! |

Our home PT race where we never have any chance of competing
I'm leaving my money with Roelandts for this one, but Van Stayen should be the main favourite stat-wise imo.
Good luck everyone!

If there is one race in the calendar that screams "Ignatiev late attack" it is this one...so please can you possibly attack Mikhail! Thanks
We also have Grosu here as the second option, so i hope we can benefit from the strong team.

We gambled a bit here, because we didn't have a clue as to what to expect. So we have Jerome Coppel here, who will probably be our best bet, but also Tzortzakis and Coquard in case it ends up being a mass sprint. Tom David could possibly do some long range crap aswell.
But to be honest, we don't expect anything from this one.

Well, that´s quite impressive startlist. Obviously, I´m rooting for calm race with no late attacks leading to mass sprint - then I have a big chance to grab something. Let´s see how things gonna develop.

I'm really scared sending Ciolek here was a big mistake and will disrupt our strategy in the final.
Ideally, we support both him and Demare and either let both of them sprint or just wave Ciolek goodbye if he's spent before, and maybe throw in a late Kelderman attack.
Worst case scenario, we all wait for a dropped Ciolek in a hard race and throw away everything.
A lot is on the line.

Van Stayen is the obvious favourite and with Dzamastagic and Skujins I have two weapons to support him so I will likely end up disappointed as the expectations are sky high

Hard to say who will win here. I hope it's going to be a tough race so we can grab a top 10.

Only three races left to ride, I hope to score big in both Tasmania and Lombardia. Here in Lisbon Zakarin, Chernetskiy and Gusev maybe are able to attack, otherwise it's up to Porsev to deliver in the sprint. But a zero pointer for Tinkoff is quite possible as well.

Top5 was all I wanted here as I expected the "punchy" sprinters to be stronger. Seeing Tzortzakis winning though makes the 5th look a bit weak by Swift...
So neither totally happy nor unhappy really.
Unfortunately not a lot of backup points by others, who took it calm it seems.
Congrat SotD, guess you can slowly believe in your title now.
And thanks jph for the report. |

Regarding rankings.
Big move up by Evonik here going into top spot of newly promoted teams.
Then also big moves at the bottom by Pokerstars to extend their gap to the relegation area and even more by Jayco`z with several riders scoring and hence passing Movistar putting them under the line plus having a ~100 point gap now!
Bold move by Jayco`z and now it looks more and more like 3 teams fighting for 2 safe spots.

Thank you for the report, jph27! And congratulations on the surprise win, SotD. There's just no stopping Festina this season, and that's your race win as well.
Goss and Degenkolb scoring some major points considering the battle to avoid relegation. Movistar must still fancy their chances though, with TVG being a top contender for both Tasmania and Lombardia, they can't afford him doing anything wrong looking at the standings.
For my own team, it seems like we no longer can do anything right in any race. It feels quite incredible, in a bad way. |

Hah! Yeah OK, definately didn't see that coming! We haven't won a race all season, and then we end up winning the most unlikely one with Tzortzakis, whom also makes up for a rather dull season by charging towards even more points than he scored last season in total.
That is just surreal! If we manage to not win the PT now, it had got to be one of the biggest upsets of this game ever...
