Top 10 is difficult against the best or most of the best as some are missing such as Madrazo or Tenorio.
Keizer/Olivier still a strong duo and hence a top10 would be great, top15 expected with another one in top25-30.
In the end can`t expect big points here though and Schleck to win obviously. |

My money is on Spilak here, his stamina could be very valuable here

Well, last race of the month. We will be leading the rankings no matter what happens. But we need to dig deep and get a good result as the remaining races are all on the edge. Could be great, could be nothing. And our gap is not big enough for "nothing" races.
Becherovka are here with nothing - Quite surprised that we don't even get to see König in action, but I understand the reasoning (+ the fact that he probably doesn't have anymore racedays).
Aker are here with a reasonable team. Shouldn't be able to outscore me, but could (especially if Spilak pulls a Spilak) be close.
Puma also with decent depth, but a lack of a top climber. Vesuvio obviously the big threat in this race, but they are 400 points behind Becherovka in 4th, so they won't make the gap to 2nd any smaller. eBuddy could also be making another good score here I think. Not enough to get back in top 5, but enough to overtake Evonik.

A top 10 would be very nice by Guldhammer, and it looks slightly more realistic than in Colombia seeing the startlist. Hopefully Galta can also play some kind of role deep in the race.
Schleck must be the big favourite, and the differences tend to be big on such a monster course. Hopefully Guldhammer is lucky with daily form, as it's going to be vital for him.
Looking forward to the report, jph27! |

Arndt knows how to surprise the big guns, and we could need another one of those results to bounce back from our ToNE disaster.
Realistically, he and Nerz should only be able to fight for two Top 15 spots, which I would have to be content with. Maybe Herklotz can show himself in some way too.

Not sure what to expect from Machado, but it seems that a top10 is reachable which would be a nice way to finish this month.
Thanks for the preview jph!

2nd is as good as it's going to get. We are happy with that, although the fact that we haven't won a single race all season, is getting increasingly irritating.
Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier as 16th is slightly below what I expected. He should have been able to beat Penasa, Berhane, Suaza and Stancu on a race like that. Markus Eibegger as 26th is, however, a huge overperformance!
Can't be unhappy with this result, although it was as expected, or slightly worse.

A lot better than expected. Two guys in the top 30 might be the best team result on a mountain stage and a rider in the break and a couple of other finishers is great
The podium places pretty much as could be expected. No surprises there as Schleck was the favourite ahead of Spilak.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

You should. It must be horrible to be 5th by start of October, having 350 points to 2nd place, as a promoting team.

Well that's the end of the mountain crashes for us. Fortunately this one is more benign.
Schleck monstrous as usual with the deserved win there. Thanks for this epic race jph!

A very good race for me here. Stancu with a great results and Henao fighting for the podium in the closing meters of the race, but in the end only finishing 5th.
A little bit surprised with Brambilla's results, but Henao and Stancu definitely made up for his miss here.

This is basically a replay of last year's race, Schleck knows how to win this and why change his tactic? Too good.

Well, even though the gaps to the teams below are more relevant, that sounds much nicer than I anticipated with the misses in the last few races, thanks
And you're right, comparing to pre-season expectations, we could score 0 points in October and I still couldn't complain.
Kelderman has some pressure regardless since the TTT won't yield much and Lisbon is somewhat of a gamble with Ciolek and Demare potentially not being bothered to sprint again.

Good save by Guldhammer to manage a top 15 after being dropped that early. Galta with a no show though, and I hoped for more from him. But as said pre race, this is just too brutal to make an impact if unlucky with the daily form, so hopefully we can come back next year and do better.
Congratulations, SN! Schleck is just a level above everyone on such a course. And thank you for the report, jph27. |
