So I want to come back with a good story, and I want to have the members of PCM.Daily to be part of it. You will provide me with the Team's Identity, Sponsors and the Riders and have some influence of the Team's Schedule and Calendar.
This will be done via a series of polls, posting in the thread and sometimes via PMs.
I would like as many people to get involved as possible, and even if you are not part of the beginning, then there will still be a role to play.

So let's get the ball rolling with a couple of polls! This will decide on the Team's Nationality (for sponsorship / initial calendar / nation focus), as well as deciding on whether the team will ride at a CT or PCT level and also whether the team consist of real riders or rider you make up yourselves.
Team Nationality: https://goo.gl/c5...
CT or PCT?: https://goo.gl/qL...
Real or Fantasy: https://goo.gl/su...
Please Note: Voting on the first bunch of polls will end at 12pm GMT on Sunday 25th September

this kind of reminds me of my attempt on the Leopard-Evonik story, which I really enjoyed to host - polls have a lot of potential, and so have you as a story writer...I'm in!

Thanks to everyone who voted in the first initial polls, as well as the additional comments.
The Poll #1 has now closed, and the results are in. One had a clear winner, one was quite close across the options and one ended in a dead heat. These polls are the first step on our way to getting the story underway.
*****
The first poll was the Team's Nationality. We have an early leader in 'Other', with the suggestion of Colombia come through from those votes, however, in the it was Italy which won with 33.3% of the votes. UK, France, Australia and Other all took 16.7% of the votes each, with no votes for USA.
*****
Next was the level that the team would ride at. Obviously, WorldTour would be too high of a step, so ProContinental or Continental would be the choices. This came out in a 50/50 split, with nothing to separate the two. It looked for a long time that CT would be the winner, but some last minute votes brought it all back together.
Clearly we needed a winner, so it was down to a random choice picker online. Both names through in a pot and first out was Continental. However, given the closeness of the contest, it will be a team that will be at the top end of CT rankings with the talent of riders.
*****
Finally, we have the choice between using Real or Fantasy riders on the team, and Real was a clear winner with 66.7%. That means, instead of you guys will be suggesting who to put on the roster rather than creating your own incarnations for the squad.
*****
The next part will be working towards getting the sponsors in place so that I can work on a jersey. Details of this and the commencement of rider suggestions will be revealed later on today.

Task #2 - Sponsors & Roster Now we have the team's identity, it is time to work on some sponsors, team jersey for the season, and suggestions on the riders who will form the basis of the squad.
*****
I will start off with sponsors, as that is the easier one. Colnago, Campagnolo and Rudy Project will be the Equipment sponsors, whilst Sportful will be providing the Clothing. What I want from the PCM.Daily Community is suggestions on the Main Sponsor, Co-Sponsor (if you want more than one sponsor) and any additional minor sponsors to be included. I would like the Main Sponsors to be Italian, given the Team's Nationality, but suggestions away from that for minor sponsors would be ok if it fits with the others.
For submitting your entries, please use the form found in the spoiler, posting in the thread.
Spoiler Main Sponsor:
Co-Sponsor (if applicable):
Other Sponsors:
Please provide photos if the sponsors are obscure or very specific
*****
In addition to the sponsors, I would like to get the ball rolling with the team roster. I am opening up suggestions on riders for the team, which I hope to end with being around 20 rider mark for size. Not all the roles in the team will be available at first, so please be selective if your suggestions - There are rules to follow!
Like the sponsors, I would like names of riders posted in the thread, and the current roles being allocated are in the spoiler:
Spoiler - Leader x1
- Co-Leader x2
- Luxury Teammate x2
- Teammate x6
- Talent x2
When suggesting riders, please can you be aware of the following:
- I would like the team to be MINIMUM 80% Italian riders, so please look at previous suggestions and/or selected riders when putting forward a name of another nationality to make sure there aren't too many 'foreign' riders.
- The team will ride at a CT Level, so please be conscience of this with your suggestions and keep it realistic. I do not want to the team to be OP.
- I will be using the PCM.Daily 2016 Expansion Pack, so only riders found in the DB will be included. I will not be creating riders for the team.
Deadline for both of these tasks will be Tuesday 27th September at 5pm GMT

a short question: do you want 20 riders on the team at the end or 20 suggestions in total? cause I would say that 20 might be a number that is too big as it would be hard to get enough races for every guy...my experiences would suggest 12-15 riders on CT level to have an enjoyable career...
btw: suggestions on sponsors and riders will come from me in the next couple of hours

For the team I would suggest the following ones:
Leader: Francesco Lasca
Co-Leader: Luca Wackermann, Cristian Salerno
Luxury Teammates: Vincenzo Albanese, Filippo Ganna, Edwarrd Ravasi
Teammates: Donato de Ieso, Simone Consonni, Mattia de Marchi, Leonardo Basso, Matteo Fabbro, Jacopo Mosca
Talents: Seid Lizde, Luca Mozzato
I've decided to suggest only guys that are Free Agents in the database to not weaken any other team. Would be very interesting to see some of the lately added U23/junior-riders in the team. To follow their abilities and developement would make this even more of a hot thing for me.
Wackermann and Lasca would bith be leaders, but if this is played on hard it would be an interesting lead duo together with the old Salerno...the others is lots of guys hungry for experience, most of them have never ridden on CT level or if so on lower level teams (take out de Ieso and Ravasi).

For sponsors I'd suggest the following:
Main Sponsor: Calligaris
Co-Sponsor (if applicable):
Other Sponsors: HBI (Hypo-Alpe-Adria-Bank), Turismo FVG, Dolomiti di Brenta Bike, University of Udine, Acqua Dolomia, SNAI
All possible other sponsors I have mentioned have a special connection to northern italy (most of these with the region around Udine), many of these earn money via cycling somehow or invest in it.
Most of these only make sense all together, and some of these need a special demography of riders (f.e. University --> a lot of young guys). If needed I'm very happy to give deeper explanations on the sponsors choice of my suggestion.

Ok, here are my rider suggestions. Half of them Free Agents, the other half from CT teams (in one case PCT). Riders who Croatia14 already mentioned are in italics.
- Leader: Marco Tizza (D'Amico)
- Co-Leaders: Matteo Malucelli (Unieuro), Luca Wackermann
- Luxury Teammates: Simone Velasco (Bardiani), Vincenzo Albanese
- Teammates: Marco Tecchio (Unieuro), Marco Maronese, Alex Aranburu (Euskadi), Imanol Estevez (Euskadi), Jon Irisarri, Seid Lizde
- Talents: Giovanni Carboni (Unieuro), Ottavio Dotti (Unieuro)
I'd especially love to see the duo Tecchio/Carboni involved, both Unieuro irl, both born on 31st August (94/95 respectively), both been discovered by Andrea Tonti for his Area Zero Pro team in 2014 and riding together since then, so both interesting to follow together. I added two other interesting Unieuro riders, in case the story could be made in a way that some riders and staff are coming from Unieuro so the team does not have to start totally from scratch.
Marco Maronese could be quite interesting as well, rocking the amateur ranks in Italy these last two years without having competed in bigger UCI (junior/U23) races so far.
And with Jon Irisarri and Alex Aranburu + Imanol Estevez three basque riders, so that the team is not fully Italian and we could have at least two of them as an interesting, talented duo from elsewhere.
---
Concerning sponsors, I would love to see Italian fashion brand Stone Island involved, they are into a combination of high fashion and casual streetwear. Based in Ravarino, not far from Bologna (so northern Italy as well). Might be implemented in the story as sponsor responsible for the out-of-race-outfits (team jackets, polos etc.). And to have the Stone Island badge on the jersey would be so cool

Thanks both for the suggestions so far - I will have a good look at the riders and sponsor names this evening.
Please keep the suggestions coming, as I have set a deadline of tomorrow at 5pm GMT for the first round of riders. You do not need to suggest riders for all of the roles, so don't worry if you can't think of someone for every area.
For the squad size, 20 riders was just something I thought of when planning out the different roles. However, this will adjusted accordingly to fit with the needs of the team and make sure it is happily competitive in the CT division

With a slower response than what I anticipated, I have extended the deadline for suggestions on riders and sponsors until the end of this week.
As previously mentioned, you do not need to put forward riders for every role in the team, just 1 or 2 riders would be welcomed. The same with the sponsor options.
It doesn't have to be a long post like Croatia14's and Leonoel's posts above.
Thanks

A small thing I thought of: I would combine Luxury Teammates and Co-Leaders to one category, cause the difference in strength between these on CT level might be very hard to figure out. Especially if you want to have 3 leaders then all the other guys might be domestique to not become a completely overpowered team.
Thought about Wackermann a little longer, he should be more Captain than Co-Leader for the poll with his stats...

imo an Italian CT team should be regional based, given they mostly are. Didn't have time to make a full squad but here's an incomplete Veneto team:
Main Sponsor: Mecc Alte
Co-sponsor: De'Longhi
- Leader: Alberto Cechin
- Co-Leader/Luxury Teammates: Giacomo Berlato, Fabio Chinello,
- Teammates: Massimo Graziato, Mirko Tedeschi, Andrea Vaccher, Thomas Capocchi
- Talent: Marco Tecchio
If I find the time I might suggest a team based in Aosta Valley or Lombardy as well.
