3 HC events, 4 C1 races. Not the biggest update that early but still a nice showing by some teams while others need to improve surely.
January saw 3 big events. HC sprinter classic in Down Under. Then the hilly Tour Down Under and the mountaineous climbing fest in Tachira. So quite a lot of race days for some teams already, which obviously will change the total points so far as the race days are hugely different in the PCT division.
The Down Under Classic was dominated by VisitUkraine closely followed by race winners Valio. Though both teams did not participate in the remaining January races. So the month is topped by Ban na hEireann, who took part in all 3 events just like Vontobel as runner-up. Both teams also performed quite well actually in all seeing that first dominated Tachira point wise ahead of Porto and Vontobel while later was also one of the top scores in Australia, where Wiesenhof topped the ranking, which leads them to a nice position early on.
January scores:
1 | | Banc na hÉireann | 408 | 2 | | Vontobel | 351 | 3 | | Wiesenhof - Andritz | 274 | 4 | | Porto - Prio | 237 | 5 | | VisitUkraine p/b Nemiroff | 164 | 6 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 145 | 7 | | Hugo Boss | 143 | 8 | | Valio - DeLaval | 140 |
Berner Rundfahrt started well for Coldeportes as topscorers just 1 point ahead of Novatek due to nice depth. But also Hugo Boss was once again high up there.
The first HC stage race in Eritrea saw 2-3 dominant teams. GC winner UBS of course but just 6 points less for runner-up Telkom. Due to depth also Ayubowan was doing very well there while the home team Eritel is not yet really finding their rythm but at least also belong to the better scorers there, which is though their main scoring of the year so far.
San Luis immediately as next HC event saw Hugo Boss dominating with GC winner Costa. Valio surprisingly due to Vastaranta and Arrinera with runner-up Froome come closest and also Netia was doing decently further below. VisitUkraine and Ayubowan again with consistent scoring here move them up in the rankings.
Kigali saw the cobbler teams getting their first chance. Summerhill seems to keep his dominator status, which is great for Azteca, who have had a tough start and really need his points. Though Strava showed their strength outscoring due to their depth. Should become interesting battles on the paves this season.
Catalunya was dominated by Ayubowan. After a bad January, they improved massively in February after the sponsor announcement. Afraid of their job?
Coldeportes with new PCT star Uran coming closest while ranking Hugo Boss was a lot weaker there to lose hte lead to Ayubowan. Arrinera with yet another solid race up to 3rd.
Coldeportes, Spotify, Flores all with some solid Catalunya making a late February jump.
Interesting to see relegated team Meiji struggling just above the relegation zone, while the others teams were partly expected quite far down. Eritel also struggling down there.
1 | | Ayubowan! | 772 | 2 | | Hugo Boss | 615 | 3 | | Arrinera | 602 | 4 | | VisitUkraine p/b Nemiroff | 570 | 5 | | Coldeportes | 570 | 6 | | Valio - DeLaval | 513 | 7 | | Vontobel | 496 | 8 | | Team Telkom for Africa | 465 | 9 | | Spotify - Haglöfs | 445 | 10 | | Banc na hÉireann | 415 | 11 | | Wiesenhof - Andritz | 414 | 12 | | Team UBS | 374 | 13 | | Flores - Ceitec | 374 | 14 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 310 | 15 | | Porto - Prio | 298 | 16 | | Strava | 280 | 17 | | Generali - AXA | 266 | 18 | | Netia - Norske Skog | 242 | 19 | | Euskaltel | 210 | 20 | | Shimano - Siam Cement Team | 210 | 21 | | Karcher - Adira | 202 | 22 | | SanCor | 192 | 23 | | Compal-Merida | 173 | 24 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 171 | 25 | | Meiji - JR East | 169 | 26 | | Indosat - ANZ | 153 | 27 | | Aeropostal Venezuela Ciclismo | 135 | 28 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | 95 | 29 | | Azteca - NBCSN | 89 | 30 | | In-n-Out p/b Carrefour | 69 |
The projected rankings move VisitUkraine up to the top! This will be difficult to keep as they still profit from their huge January PpRD. While most teams are still high up there, some impressive changes.
Wiesenhof is rated a lot better in that ranking while Ayubowan drops significantly. Though if they continue as in February, this should also raise.
Lierse climb hugely but they used by far the lowest amount of race days, so this is the main reason for the dufferebcem while Vontobel drops as well in there just like Benc Na hEireann.

The individual ranking is dominated by the puncheurs and climbers. Froome did well in Down Under and San Luis and hence leading the ranking ahead of Costa, who only rode San Luis so far but won against Froome.
Ricco and Amador as best stage racers while Vastaranta is the big surprise that high.

Can't we just take the projected standings and then preted we did the rest of the season really, really quickly?
Amazing start, if we can keep this up relegation should never be a fear for us, and we should even be able to reach our top 15 goal.
Also, depth is paying off. Not a single rider near the top 10

Eh. First update doesn't really mean much - The team up top can still easily relegate. Regardless, Ayubowan doing exactly what needs doing to ensure they get back to PT.
Not much of an indicator for us, only just had our first race with one of our actual leaders. Would have wound up on the podium of Catalunya without some bad luck, so I'm definitely not too worried at this point with the PPRD projections. Aziz without a single raceday and Intxausti with only 6, we'll avoid relegation if we can stay upright.
Thanks roturn!

Needless to say Awesome two months for us. Just wish there were more races like this comming for us
Also due to picking HC bands poorly, we are also missing out on some perfect races for our riders (Strade, Ukraine..) So keeping this spot will be impossible, just a matter of how quickly we will drop from now on.
My goal is to manage a top ten spot in the end and even that will be hard, seeing how chanceless Slagter is against his opposition. Ablenado looks like he will barely score any points aswell.
Aubowan looks to be on track to get back to PT, and their depth (behind their strong leaders) doesnt look to hurt them one bit so far.

Looking good looking good Exactly where I wanted to be in our key month, where both Roche and Froome have their most busiest schedules. Our goal is still Top 10 and we're exactly where we need to in order to ensure that happening. Next rankings update will probably have us much lower, but will be tough when the pure Mountain races start, so we need to have a lead before those start.
Our season ends with a big bang in form of our leader schedules, so that is where we will bounce back toward our final ranking. So therefore you see why it's important to be ahead while you can. Awesome to see both Froome and Roche in the Top 10 and I do like I have 2 reliable point scorers there. For the rest of the team there are only Lavoine and Maes and I wouldn't pay much for their contribution. The Top 10 is secured in Froome and Roche's combined 74 RD's and rest is just a bonus really.
Thanks for the Update, makes me happy

Don't let yourself be fooled by our poor PpRD, we had no great races on our side yet - TDU could have been one, but it was hard to think Ulissi could win it.
The situation will turn around in the next 2 months and I'm pretty sure we'll find ourselves in the top 10 for a brief time if luck is on our side
Thanks for the great work roturn.

Happy with our position so far, think we'll drop quite a bit still though.

What a start to the season for us. January was pretty disappointing, but February has been great to us, and we've done brilliantly in each GC and Classic so far - 7 races into the season and a rider in the top 15 of every one, in the top 10 of five, and the top 5 of four of them. Having 3 riders in the top 13 is definitely a large part of our success, but also our depth has shone through with Yates and Gallopin scoring quite well. Add in the fact that Gautier and Bellis have barely raced and things are going quite nicely.
The PPRD figures don't make as good reading, but I think we've probably reached about the expected level - it's on other teams to continue to overperform now in order to catch us. I still don't think we'll be promoted, as we have previous with starting well and burning out, as we did in 2014, making a great start and ending up 9th. However, we've started in a way that suggests it's possible with a bit of luck - and after all, always better to have points on the board than a high PPRD |

Unexpectedly great season start for us. We should be far off promotion when the season ends, but this is a good start for the survival battle!

Ayubowen with a terrific month to claim the league table.
Quite cool to see a promoting team like Arrinera so high. That's always a nice thing to see
I'm especially pleased that our development partner Valio started so well. Another two months like that and they are saved already.
Meiji as one of the most negative surprises so far.

Scary stuff up there. The top5 look damn good, I wasn't expecting to see such differences so early in the season. Anyway there's still plenty of kilometers to be ridden and plenty of points to be disputed.
Thanks for the update and all the massive work behind it!

Thank you for the update! Our result is a bit skewed as pretty much all of our points came from Amador in a single race. That explains our decent PPD because everyone else has been disappointing.

Great to be that high on the pprd while Monsalve failed badly. Pretty happy about that, hope to continue atleast at this level, but will be interesting to see if that is possible

Obviously we like the projected ranking more, but we still have to earn those points. We really need a top result to be safe.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

We didn't race much, and sent our two weakest rosters of the entire season in the first two races. I dont think we will relegate, but I still think how everyone had us in the Top 5 at the end of the season will end up being wrong.

Obviously not where we want to be, but with only one cobbled race in the books that counted for points, there are still lots of chances left out there for us. However we are going to have to find points in some of the other terrains which we thought the team was improved on this year.
