Tour of Bulgaria
Welcome to the second edition of Tour of Bulgaria.
Last year the race was won by Andrei Kashechkin, but it's an entirely different race this time around.
This year it's one for the strong climbers, preferably with strong support as stage 2 is a team time trial and there is enough climbing early on the stages to call for teams capable of controlling on climbs
Keizer will be one of the hottest names having strong support on the climbs as well as one of the strongest teams for the TTT.
Marquez should also benefit of some good depth in his team, though not quite as strong in the TT-department.
Krasnoperov is one rider that will appreciate that all the climbs here are pretty long and he might be one of teh big names with the most support even though it is more in depth than powerfull lieutenants.
Berhane has a good TTT-squad as well but could find his mountain support lacking if they are put under pressure.
The home team is here with Panayotov, but their hope must lie on stage wins as GC success or success in the TTT will be close to a miracle.
ONCE-Eroski however have a very strong team backing Brajkovic in both parts, just as Machado has solid support but possibly could have used that one strong helper for the climbs capable of sitting with him towards the end.
Intxausti could very well be the rider in the lead after the TTT, which will put his helpers under a lot of strain as they hardly have the climbing strenght to be fit as long as he'll need if the other favourites make it an active race.
Siam Cement have chosen a different approach than most other teams here as they have multiple leaders, but one of the weaker looking TTT-rosters in the race. Will be interesting to see how that will work out for them.
Nerz looks as he very well could be the big name with the least support in the TTT so he will need to ride an offensive race to compensate for that.

Interesting race for sure.
Except Olivier and Aru all riders are strong time trialists and those few % that Schädlich, Dumoulin are missing after one mountain stage, Pauwels, Clement, and also my two climbers will have more then.
So hopefully a very good TTT result and Keizer being concentrated on the mountain stages.
I can`t expect another mountain performance as on the final Andorra stage. So top5 is minimum here. Top 3 the goal. Win would be awesome! |

I really need Cobo, Arroyo and/or Txurruka to get in a breakaway which could be GC deciding and gain a lot of time, a good chance to do it on stages 3 and 4. Need good points here!

Home race #2. Petar is don't know, he could be Andorra level brilliant or he could be any other race awful. Sarmiento is my best bet to pop in a breakaway win but i doubt that'll happen. I just want the team out front in a few breaks and to not be embarassing on home turf.
I want that Bulgarian cobbled race back instead please

Time to save our season, and our pride. Krasnoiperov/Nepomnyachsniy should have a decent chance at a good GC here, also considering we bring a fairly decent TTT setup, with 4 climbers who should survive stage 1 very easily.

Really interesting race this. Machado should realistically manage to win this even with a bad day, as he showed he is not really unfailable but quite constant. Brajkovic will probably be the one ending up being the closest to him.

Expectation: 0 maybe a TTT win again to take the record to 4/5 in TTT's would be awesome. |

Top 5 goal here. If we dont reach it this time either I will consider this race a huge fail. Plenty of support for brajko in the mountains here. No excuses to fail this time
Also not many races left him brajko now so if he doesnt deliver we might be in danger again
First race I have both Pantano and Anton as support riders, hopefully it will show

Now come on Florentino, need a good performance here! Sent the best mountain team I have, but the TTT worries me. Robert and Irvine are the only good TTists I have basically, but it mightn't be enough to avoid big losses.

Eastman has been lackluster in most of the tours, so I don't expect anything big from him. I do have a reasonable TTT squad here, so who knows, maybe he can turn things around!

It would be good to win this one, but there is tough competition. All of these mountains should provide some exciting stages, with Machado dominating, while ultimately losing the lead in the final stages of the race.
Let the best guy win. Thanks for the preview

We certainly don't have much in the way of expectations here, but again we have a handful of climbers so hoping likely for something in a breakaway assuming the team survives the time-limit in the TTT where finishing in last would still be considered a success.

At least Keizer was in the first group around Intxuasti, who is a big threat now seeing their TTT strength.
Feel sorry for Gustav as Machado again underperforming.
The first two of the stage shouldn`t be too worrying with the remaining stages but surely the peloton shouldn`t allow more breaks on the other climbs. |

Ouch, Kononenko was supposed to be a great asset in both the mountains and the TTT, glad he didn't get OTL, would really have messed my race up. Nepomnyachsniy and Krasnoperov both still with a solid shot at a good result, which is something I had expected after stage 1.
