The Tour de Suisse 2015 waits with a lot of mountaineous stages. 3 tough mountin stages of which 2 are uphill finishes. Then a MTT for the pure climbers and a hilly sage for the allrounders.
But you also need to timetrial pretty well as the opener has a 37,5km ITT which surely is not ideal for some climbers.
The last winners all decided to aim elsewhere. So there is neither A.Schleck nor Amador, Pluchkin or Phinney. Only Frank Schleck as 2009 winner is at the start but is far from his former best.
The startlist though speaks for itself. It`s a huge one for such race and with 2x85 and 3x84 climbing it says enough. It`s a GT worthy field including GT winners and will surely see some firework by those in the mountains.
| Mountain | Hill | TT | Spilak | 85 | 82 | 77 | Madrazo | 85 | 76 | 77 | Denifl | 84 | 76 | 72 | Alarcon | 84 | 73 | 66 | Tenorio | 84 | 76 | 80 | Phinney | 82 | 77 | 83 | Dekker | 82 | 76 | 79 | Martin | 82 | 77 | 73 | Dombrowski | 82 | 73 | 69 | Henao Montoya | 82 | 71 | 71 | Duarte | 80 | 68 | 75 | Pinot | 80 | 74 | 65 | Ji | 80 | 75 | 69 | Morton | 80 | 74 | 71 | Fothen | 80 | 73 | 76 | Krasnoperov | 80 | 68 | 73 | Cattaneo | 80 | 69 | 77 |
Spilak and Madrazo the clear favourites. In especially first with the mountain/hill/TT combination. Also Tenorio surely likes
Also for the few sprint opportunities a couple of 1st tier sprinters decided to take part here. 3 stages look to be possible sprint finishes, which is not bad for a mountain race.
| Fl | Spr | Acc | Guerao | 74 | 83 | 76 | Howard | 76 | 82 | 79 | Goss | 74 | 82 | 78 | Napolitano | 72 | 81 | 80 | Guardini | 72 | 80 | 82 | Stauff | 74 | 80 | 81 | Von Hoff | 71 | 79 | 77 | Trusov | 69 | 78 | 74 | Van der Lijke | 73 | 78 | 79 | Itami | 73 | 78 | 80 | Van Poppel | 70 | 78 | 76 | Pedersen | 72 | 78 | 75 | Weylandt | 73 | 78 | 74 |
The opening timetrial obviously offers a good chance for some riders to take the race lead for some days. Those are mainly:
Phinney | 73 | 83 | Coppel | 77 | 83 | Ford | 63 | 81 | Tenorio | 68 | 80 | Dekker | 76 | 79 | Malori | 78 | 79 | Sütterlin | 69 | 78 |
Some surely with GC ambitions. Others only with ambitions for the first days.

Okay, please some stage-results now! Goss and Ford should be capable of scoring Top-5(s) in the stages which suit them. We haven't been too lucky with timetrials so far, so I'm hoping for Ford to deny those small climbs and pull a result here!
Morton for a minor GC-hope then. A Top-15 will do, but anything less would be underwhelming already.

It'll be very hard, but who knows, Tenorio might even be able to win it, depending on how it plays out. But so could Phinney, Spilak & Madrazo. Should be a good race.
I hope Tenorio will finish on the podium.

A top 5 for Martin looks difficult seeing the riders lining up, but if the hilly stage sees gaps, who knows what could happen. 7th place probably needs to be the overall target, behind the five great climbers and Phinney, but Dekker will obviously be difficult to beat as well.
A similar performance to Tirreno-Adriatico is obviously a too big ask, but I just hope he's attentive on the mountain stages and don't get stuck in the peloton. If he avoids a disastrous stage, a decent GC placing should be possible.
Other than Martin, I will have to hope for breakaway participation. |

I am pretty concerned after the Vuelta.
Guerao should do better here as long as he don't get caught behind shyte red bull sprint train or the fat ass Goss.
Alarcon is a big gamble considering that opening chrono, just hope he shows some attacking intent.

Expecting nothing, obviously, but after the Giro I do have hopes Prevar might go in a break and snatch my first win this season... Krasnoperov should be able to get a top 50...

Hmm, on the paper not bad looking startlist for Howard. Hopefully flat stages will result in a final sprint for a win. And that is probably my only hope here for a good result. We should better score some points after a really bad Vuelta...

With a bit of luch, Henao could finish in the top 10 here.

Never won from an early breakaway in CT and never won from an early breakaway in PCT... all saved for our first Pro Tour appearance.
Guess we won't steal that many points from the teams in need, but did our best to send a team that is able to compete.

After a disappointing Vuelta, I'm hoping Phinney can bounce back here. To have a chance, though, he will need to be in the leader's jersey after stage 1 which can be tricky against a rider like Coppel. The mountain stages will just be about losing as little time as possible to the better climbers. Hopefully Duarte can be of some help, there.
Looking forward to the reports!

That's a very tough field. I was going to send Amador because this race is an objective, but it didn't work out with his race days and now I'm glad I didn't. It should be a good showdown, and it's really impossible to pick a winner. Nice preview, this one should be good.

Pinot in the top 15 plus a few breakaway attempts and I'll call this race a success. Would love it if Gautier could win the hilly stage, but I know it's unlikely |

Hoping for good results on the flats from Napo and stage hunting from the rest. I doubt Ji will do well enough in the GC to get a good amount of points.

Flat stages aren't the flattest which should suit Van der Lijke, but that depends if he actually sprints or not. No GC ambitions for Schleck really. Top 20 and a showing on Stage 6 would be nice

I'd say 8th is very good result in this TT for our team, and both Nepomyachsniy and Krasnoperov are both still in positions to get a decent-ish GC from here. Kashechkin and Prevar should be far enough down already to be allowed in breaks, which is good too

Nice too see the frenchie deliver atlast. This is gonna be a great race for Festina. Can't see someone else than Spilak taking the overall tbh. Madrazo 2nd, Tenorio 3rd.
Really wish I applied for more than one wildcard in the offseason now aswell..

Henao with a big time loss there. Hopefully this will mean fireworks in the mountains.
