I sat at my desk in my house thinking what to do, which team should I join for the 2015 season, I'd had plenty of offers, but I wasn't sure which was best. Tinkoff had given me an offer to ride in the Giro and Tour, but I was worried that if I went there I'd become the lead out man for Peter Sagan. Sky were still keen on me resigning, but I knew that if I joined them I wouldn't get the chance to go for the win like I wanted. Then the phone rang!
"Hello Edvald, It's Brian Smith of MTN Qhubeka! I have an offer for you."
We talked for over an hour and Brian was saying all the right things, he'd give me some leadership opportunities in the biggest races. He invited me to attend a training camp to see if I felt I'd fit into the team, from that point I knew which team I'd be riding for in 2015. I'd realised at the start of 2014 that I needed to restart my career as I knew I had the talent to win big, but I just hand't found it since HTC folded and I left for Sky, which was a great team, but I didn't get as many leadership opportunities as I would of hoped for.
2015 would be a new start for me with a new team and new ideas. I was ready to take on the world!

Cyanide Cup
The Cyanide Cup is a 3 round series based in the Spanish city of San Sebastian, admittedly its not a type a race I would of chosen to ride, but my sponsors wanted me to ride so I decided that I would as the course did kind of suit me and I could realistically think about getting 1 maybe 2 wins, so I knew that would be a good way to start the year.
Round 1
Target: My target for todays racing was to try and get myself a nice early win, the course was a course that I liked the look of so I wanted to make sure that I could capitalise and get a nice early win.
The Race: We started out hard as we wanted to make sure the right break went away, eventually a break that had none of the favourites teams in went away, and we were able to knock it back and just have a couple of guys setting the tempo at the front of the bunch.
On the final climb I knew I had to make my move so I went for it and as we were the only team chasing the break as soon as I went and I got a gap I knew I could get the win, the break were swept away as soon as I attacked and over the top I pulled out a 1 minute gap and the bunch behind eased up, meaning by the line I'd pulled out almost two minutes of a gap, so I was very happy with how the race had gone, then behind Ciolek managed to get 2nd, so we managed to get a great result for the team in the first race of the season.

Great way to start a season! Just one thing maybe bold Eddy's name in results, it may come in handy for the 0.1% of races he isn't bossing it in first
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
