You agree that talented climbers who become beasts on Astana is suspicious but you still think that SKY transforming TT-horses into the best climbers in the world is all fine and dandy? Naive much?

I dont really care, Richie Porte is afraid of going deep and collapsing like he always does (I would think thats why he hasnt been his dominant self like the whole year and just is answering) and Contador is a bit injured, so that leaves Astana as the only team to make some noise.
All I can blame them for is their tactics, too much bullshitting and pussying out all the time. Aru would have had Maglia Rose and 1 stage win, at least. |

Really don't get the problem with Astana, except for the obvious that half of their talent squad has been caught doped.
Aru is at the same level as last year, maybe slightly better, which is not really that un normal. Dario Cataldo is a helper and as such highly placed, while Mikel Landa is one of the biggest climbing talents in the world.
I don't see anything happening on Astana, that I couldn't put equivalent on SKY, Saxo, Katusha or Movistar.

It is just the start of the 2nd week, why would Porte go crazy yet? All he has to do is mark Aru and Contador then try and rip there legs off in the TT.

Oh and Jihardy is this thread really needed? If we have a Sky and Astana doping/hate thread then where is the Movistar, Saxo, Etixx, Orica, Lotto, AG2R threads. There is nothing that Astana are doing that the rest aren't

Well, I don't really like seeing race discussions filled with doping allegations and I saw that they were mainly directed towards riders towards Astana so I just mad this thread to make the Giro thread a race discussion, not a dope discussion |

This sounds vaguely familir to another thread..... can't remember which on though...
Equally i'd say a big difference with Astana is their shockingly poor history (recent history at that) on the topic. It's not exactly a hate thread if it's ture....

Yeah okay well I can understand you on that matey, maybe we just need a general doping thread? You know what the forum is like, everyone kind of gets carried away during a race/stage and suddenly the whole thread gets taken over

Im not saying he should go crazy, I agree with the way he races from Skys POV, just saying it necessarily isnt interesting to watch.. Would be stupid to go mentall like he has done the whole year with the last GTs he has ridden in mind. |

Yeah he certainly isn't the most exciting rider to watch

+1, exactly what I thought should happen when I saw this.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I always think Astana is being unfairly singled out for the country(s) it comes from. If Astana were French, there wouldn't be half the fuss. Sure, there have been doping scandals... but that happens with every team. Sure, Vino is a very, very dodgy figure... but so is Riis. The only thing really setting them apart from Tinkoff or Movistar is the fact that they're from Asia and Italy, not exactly the cleanest regions in general. Doesn't mean there's more or less doping than on other teams, though.

Shall we count the number of Astana issues?
Formed firectly out of Liberty Seguros-Wurth as they collapse under Puerto, taking on many of the implicated riders and staff.
First positive test was April '07, just 4 months into it's existence as a unique team (Kessler).
Mazzoleni left the team under doping allegations in July and was subsequently suspended for two years.
Vinokuorv's positive test in the Tour also in July '07.
Kasechking followed suit in August.
Redondo rounded out 2007 with another case of doping.
This brought in Bryuneel and a number of ex-Discovery guys, who we now know were pretty much all rotten.
Gusev was caught out for irregular-blood values later that year.
Lance joined in '09 and we know about him now.
Bazayev fell foul of location declaration issues, which has only ever meant one thing.
Contador's '10 TDF positive was up next.
Kreuzigers current problems stem back to his 2011 Astana season.
2012 was when the USADA stuff blew up big time implicating many former riders, current staff and doctors.
2014 of course was of course Ignlisnkiy and Ignlinskiy.
Then we had the Continental team's problems of Davidenok.
That's more than 2 positive's per year! Not including signing up riders with dodgy histories like Scarponi, LLS, Kloeden, Savoldeli, Horner, Di Gregorio, Petrov and their issues with Pellizotti.... amongst others...
