The Japan Cup ends the PCT season and has a nice history in the Man Game already. It`s the 7th edition with some of the best being on the winner list: Ghisalberti, F. Schleck, Lövkvist, Siutsou, Flügel and Ginanni in this order. Being a HC race it could actually lead to some changes in the rankings.
So far no Japanese was able to win it though but chances are better than ever before with home team Meiji having a strong team at the start.
Favourites though are others as the hilly course brought most of the division`s top puncheurs to this race. With the finish being flat also the sprint skills could play a role in case a group comes to the finish.
| Hill | Sprint | Di Maggio | 82 | 63 | Froome | 81 | 54 | Ulissi | 80 | 73 | Dowsett | 80 | 66 | Roy | 79 | 64 | Betancourt | 79 | 67 | Monfort | 79 | 64 | Gautier | 79 | 68 | Efimkin | 79 | 59 | Zaini | 79 | 65 | Bobridge | 79 | 69 | Barrio | 79 | 65 | Ben Nasser | 79 | 70 | Bellis | 78 | 74 | Bilbao | 77 | 70 | Zeits | 77 | 64 | Lejman | 77 | 59 | Cobo | 77 | 55 | Kelderman | 77 | 66 | Vogt | 77 | 61 | Weening | 76 | 59 | Hatanaka | 76 | 65 | Rabon | 76 | 72 | Kump | 75 | 77 |
On this course you could expect Diego Ulissi being the top favourite due to his sprint. But the top is really close with 13 riders with 79+ hill stat. And below this line there are still potential winners such as Bellis, Rabon or Kump.
While the Japanese might hope for Japanese Road Champion Hatanaka to perform well in the last race before the new National Champions are decided. But surely they also cheer for his team mates Efimkin and Zaini, who might have better chances to win.

Probably too short a race for Bellis but finishing on a downhill he could have a big chance in the sprint of a top 5 |

It's a race that has been known to change relegation. When Lovkvist won when this was PT, it was a huge shock, and it saved his Eurosport team from the drop.
There'll be an updated PCT standings later, so everybody knows where they stand post-Beijing.

Most of the time Ulissi is the favorite, he ends up losing to either Di Maggio or a breakaway . I'll be content if we get a nice race to close of the season and Ulissi gets a top 5.

Seeing my team form lately I don't expect anything else than cope the podium with my riders
Realistically, a top 10 should be a good result.

AMEXpc's team here in Japan will live and die with Marko Kump. We need enough help so that he can stay with the leaders into the final Kilometer and then there is a very good chance he could out sprint the field.
Time will tell. No matter what AMEXpc has had a solid season. We could have done better, but bottom line we made growth and we are in a better situation going into the transfer season than we ever have been in the past.
One last big effort lads, One more day then you can go home and rest.

Hills...
Will have to rely on Zeits once again, but I doubt we'll see any top 10 here. |

Would be great to finish off with a great result, although its unlikely to do anything major rankings wise for us. Ben Nasser should be suited to the profile, with the flattish finish. |

Damn, that startlist means we require a shitload of luck to attack in the right moment, and neither Kelderman and even less Vogt proved to have that ability this season...not really looking forward to that last rankings update either.
Silvio, half of this race is downhill..you know what to do.

223 points behind Kenya... Motivational speech time!
Spoiler Well, it's real simple. You got two more race days and that's it.
Now most of you have been playing this sport for years.
You got two more race days and after that some of you will never race again as long as you live.
Y'all have know me for a while and for a long time now you've been hearing me talk about being perfect.
Well i want you to understand something. To me, being perfect is not about that rankings board out there.
It's not about winning.
It's about you and your relationships to yourself and your family and your friends and your fans.
Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn't let them down.
Because you told them the truth. And the truth is that you did everything you could.
There wasn't one more thing that you could've done.
Can you live in that moment as best you can with clear eyes and full hearts? With joy in your heart?
If you can do that, gentlemen, then you're perfect.
I want you to take a moment and i want you to look each other in the eyes.
I want you to put each other in your hearts forever. Because forever's about to happen in just a few minutes.
I want you to close your eyes and i want you to think about this team, your brothers.
And they would die to be out there on the course with you today. And i want you to put that in your hearts.
Lads, my heart is full. My heart's full.
B, 3, B. Clear eyes, full hearts... can't lose.

Just have to hope Gautier can Top 10 as he has in all but 3 races, and that Proni, Mandri and co can keep us within 50 points of Meiji. Simple, I hope. |

Come on Di Maggio! Would be really cool to secure 4th place in the last race of the season. I guess Ulissi has an advantage by being a better sprinter, so I probably need a selective race in order to get the 10 needed points.
Very much looking forward to read the report!

Hoping for Froome to get into Top 5, would mean we'd average 30pprd across the 175 race days, although not sure we used 175 actually, can't remember.
Our last race in PCT...
I am going shed a tear..that beautiful freedom..that beautiful feeling of having a favoruite in every race..oh well, we'll get there eventually in PT too..
;D

We need a top 10 to end the season with 4/5 goals completed. Monfort should be perfectly capable of doing that, despite the strong field. Let's end the season in style!

Strong startlist to close out the season, but that was expected, almost half of teams are still battling for the final placements. In our case, fight for that 11th spot, so come on Fery Rabon, sprint for top15!
