After a transfer window in lockdown, teams such as BMC were left fuming as a reremarkably late Jackson Hughes walked into the role of IAM's GM after transfers were shut.
Jackson brings with him a new mentality both on and off the bike, with aggressive riding and strong tactical minds looking to be the key behind IAM as you see them on the road. Off the bike, the #I_am_cycling project is in its early stages of planning, which looks to get kids in need food, shelter, water and bikes. We hope to start that in May.
We look forward to a strong season!

Hey guys, it's Jackson,
So here at the HQ it is pretty lonely with no youngsters from the UCI talent program to do their thing, so I though I would start my own blog.
First of all, I'm here in Spain negotiating a  Vuelta a España wildcard, a very exciting prospect. I am also pleased to confirm wildcards for some of this first part of the season and indeed the world's biggest races.
Our first wildcard, and also our official opening race (I don't think Heino and the boys at the Bay Crits count) is the Tour Down Under , so look out for Heino in some early season form and of course a sight you might want to get acquainted with, navy jerseys in the break.
We have also secured a spot in the first monument of the year, Milano-San Remo , which is largely based off Heino's reputation as a stamina sprinter who likes the odd uphill drag or two, or however many this new course has.
We have also secured a spot in the first WT cobbled classic of the season, E3 Prijs-Harelbreke . We will look to grab a nice result with Heino there too.
Unfortunately due to the teams with sprinters who reckon they can handle cobbles, we were shut out of Gent-Wevelgem, a race in high demand to say the least!
But the crown jewel of our season, Vuelta or no Vuelta is Le Tour de France . Despite Matteo's pushing for a Giro, we knew we wouldn't stand a chance and decided to go with the Part 3 GTs, which looks a suprisingly successful move. Look out for Heino and/or Matteo depending on the Vuelta negotiations, as well as breakaway and stage wins chasing.
I will announce our full Part 1 calendar later in one of the top posts, as well as our goals.

Tour Down Under - Preview
The opening WT race of the season is also IAM's, we are looking to do more than make up the numbers, fielding a strong squad.
Leader
Heinrich Haussler is our man for his adopted home race, he will be looking to target at least 4 stages for a good finish. Goal - Podium a Stage (Also Team)
Protected Rider
 Stefan Denifl is our bet for a decent GC finish, bringing two of our best is a risk, and a calculated one at that. Goal - Top 15 GC
Free Role
 Martin Elmiger , a former winner of this race, will return looking for a BotD.
Domestiques
Kevyn Ista will be Heino's right-hand man on the flatter stages, the last man standing before Haussler unleashes.
Matthias Brändle will be a hugely helpful domestique on all six stages, with his powerful Time Trialling and hill climbing skills will be useful to both leaders.
 Dominic Klemme is a useful roleur, part of Heino's train.
Marcel Aregger is a young puncheur who will be serving as a bottle carrier and then a full-blown protector on the meatier stages. |
