Isle of Man ITT
Shortly after the Monterey TTT in Mexico where the PCT teams competed against each other to determine who has the strongest TT depth, the cyclists now have the chance to prove themselves individual against the clock. A mostly flat course, with one challenging hill at the end of the rider will be tackled on the Isle of Man.
This season's Isle of Man ITT is the sixth edition of the race since it was first held in 2009. Despite coming on the podium several times no Brit managed to win their home race here. Bradley Wiggins came the closest when he became runner up in the initial edition.
13 | | David Zabriskie | | Michael Rogers | | Ian Stannard | 12 | | Gustav Larsson | | Mikhail Ignatiev | | Kai Reus | 11 | | Mikhail Ignatiev | | Rein Taaramäe | | Ian Stannard | 10 | | Dominique Cornu | | Jason Donald | | Mikhail Ignatiev | 09 | | Ben Day | | Bradley Wiggins | | José Ivan Gutiérrez |
Noone has won the race twice yet. This year two former winners are lined-up for the race though: Gustav Larsson and Mikhail Ignatiev. But only Ignatiev is considered a favourite this year, as the Swede is getting old.

3rd would be nice but I'm too old and cynical to expect a good performance
Great to see the Sri Lankan flag on the startlist photo as well |

Is this the race to finally turn around Metinvest season? Sure looks like it. It could be close but I expect Igantiev to take it. Big chance for Oz to establish their lead on 5th place here potentially 3 in Top 5 is on cards with some luck considering Korens and Bobridge hill abilities.

And here we go! Hard to see past Ignatiev for the win. Guess he will gain enough time on the flat to hold off better puncheurs til the end. Would be cool to see Metinvest winning this, at least he's the only one i would like to see ahead of my biggest threats here
Main goal: 3x Top-10 and a podium
Dream: Ignatiev - Bobridge - Koren or Rogers on.podium
Minimum: 1x podium
Guess the hill will do the trick here, so I expect Reus, Koren, Bobridge, Kangert and Bibby to finish quite close together. Daily form may be crucial between those guys. Rogers i don't know. Guess he can do something special when in very good shape.

As a manager of a team that also gets shown with a Zimbabwe flag all the time, I thought you'd like that. |

Hope Stannard can repeat his previous performances and secure a good result, a top 5 would be amazing considering the competition and it is a route that really doesnt suit him...
Good luck everyone

my third goal of the season and my third failed goal.
Ps: How does it work the points system in this race?

Here it is, one of the most important races of the season for Metinvest. I expect win and win only, if Ignatiev does not win with these stats, something is wrong. Only daily form can screw it i think
Oz seems like biggest threats once again, together with likes of Reus, Bibby and Kangert. Thanks for the nice words Tsmoha and Alak, i hope this is the turning point for us.
Zmorka and Ma are also strong riders, so expect maybe three in the top15.
Nice preview Bikex, now bring me the race.

Patrick Gretsch is AMEXpc's top TT rider, but veteran all-arounder Stijn Devolder could surprise here. He is solid on the Flats and the Hills and a steady TT man.
Our prospects for top 10 are slim at best but we would like to see Gretsch in the top 12 and Devolder in the top 20.

Looking forward to see how Craven will do in this race. Hopefully he can take use of being the best puncher in the field besides Bobridge. A top 10 would be pretty good.

Well, that sent well
Quite surprised to see Rogers taking this with Bobridge going for 10th, as well as Tennant finishing ahead of Koren. I definitely had hoped for good ol' Rogers to have his very last shot at this victory after his runner-up last season. But that's still a stunning result for him. An outstanding day for Rogers and Zabriskie: the old TT-heroes completing a double today, great stuff.
Feel a bit sorry for Ignatiev/Avin to miss this one that damn close. Zmorka though did quite well, which may help Avin to get past this loss. Nepo with a great day, too. And Jaguar. As for my team, i will never ever complain about 3x Top-10s and a win. Third win in a row
Thanks for this detailed report!

Great ride by Tennant, too bad that he missed out on the podium. Bibby fought the conditions well and it is nice to have 2 in the Top 5.
Oz are really going strong now, but it is a shame that Ignatiev couldn't get a win for Metinvest - they certainly need it!

Thanks for the thrilling report Bikex, shame that we were on the wrong side of this thrill once again, we just cant have a luck moment this year.
Ignatiev was clearly strongest from the late starters, so maybe hard conditions in the first half were what cost us a much needed win. Anyway congrats to Tsmoha and old chap Rogers, they are on the roll.
Zmorka with great ride to take the 7th in race where he should fight for win in two years time, that makes the loss a bit "better". Ma sucked on the other hand...
Ignatiev still waiting for that TT win outside of PT.

Really fantastic report that - I really enjoyed it thanks BikeX. I really thought Ignatiev was just going to nip Rogers but certainly one of the more thrilling TTs you will see. Not dissimilar to the TdF chrono in that conditions played a very big part.
It is really proving a really rough year for Ignatiev and his team - in the past he has dominated but the last couple of years he has got lost. Still this will have been decent points for Metinvest and you sense there is more to come.
Meanwhile Oz Cycling are on fire!

Well that's a goal failed. 8th is absolutely abhorrent from Reus, seeing some of the guys who beat him.
Thanks for a fantastic report Bikex |
