Since PCM these years seems to dissapoint a bit, I though about going back to one of the old ones...
I am having a hard time picking one out.
Which one is your favorit cycling game, going back to Cycling Manager 1?
And why?? |

Newer: PCM13 (stable, good animations, gameplay, career and just overally better than some previous editions)
Older: PCM06 (it's just great)

Haven't really been around long enough to make a good judgement. Loved watching PCM 10 videos on YouTube though. Still, for me, the games have been better as they go

Before 2010 the only one I had didn't have any corners. Was this the original Pro Cycling Manager?
That was a kick-ass edition. I would have been a great pro at that time |

I didn't even know that it went back to 2001.
Was there ever one that Cyanide fixed most of the bugs in?
Or was there ever one where the AI was particularly good? |

PCM 2008 was the best, 2009 wasn't too different and if we include DB's as a factor then 2006 because of the Giant. PCM 10 was the last game I really enjoyed and played religiously. The newer ones are just missing something. The solid riders are a good idea but implemented horribly. The only time its ever realistic was sprints and in older games you still couldn't go through riders that easily during sprints.
2011 is the best of the newer ones simply because the gameplay doesn't have a major fault that basically ruins the whole game.

PCM 13 for gameplay?
I would recommend PCM08 or PCM11, for me the two best games in the series, if not counting older than 08. PCM11 was imo the best one, from that point, everything is focused around graphics and gameplay got worse and worse every year, with gamebreaking bugs in every edition.

Having played since PCM09, I guess I'd have to go with PCM11 (considering the gameplay having the biggest weight). My biggest playing time was in PCM09, but it does have some gameplay flaws (attacking in flat/climb or climb/descent transition, rider behavior when out of energy seemed rather weird), though I feel PCM09's engine is the best among 09~13 (for example, there actually are riders continuously getting dropped when climbing, not half the peloton splitting and the bottom half doing nothing because all teams 'have a rider up on the road' and then getting 20 mins behind). I agree with valv that after the solid riders I haven't felt gameplay to be quite the same, but I guess that's mostly related to engine changes really rather than the blocking stuff and all. Cyanide works in an interesting way. As time passes by, the game gets slightly worse in some aspects with slight improvements through new features, thus it ends up all the same (for example, Cya mentions PCM14 focus is career mode but there isn't even the 2nd main sponsor which vanished from PCM12 to 13?). Graphics gets better, gameplay only goes down (stopping to think about it, PCM13 has probably the worst AI between 09-13 and the worst engine together with 10. I wonder why we keep transitioning game to game when they've been lately completely failing to deliver in what mostly matters, i.e. gameplay).

Clearly you have only watched videos of PCM10

You mean turns? If so, only Cycling Manager 1 (2001) didn't have that. Was implemented from CyM2.
OT, my favourite is CyM4. The one I've had most fun playing, although admittedly I haven't really been able to give neither PCM13 nor PCM14 much of a chance. |

Like CrueTrue, I played CyM4 the most..
After that PCM 2008 - especially all the online sessions... I was actually good at something (elimination track).. and played a lot online sessions with PCM Daily players. We had loads of laughs.. like in Veenendaal Veenendaal
After that probably PCM 2009 and PCM 2013. |
