Great Ocean Road Classic Discussion

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/great_ocean_road_classic.jpg

Welcome to Australia for the first C2HC race of this season, and in fact Man-Game history. The Great Ocean Road Classic has a route, as suggested by the name, near the south eastern coastline of Australia. The race is flat, without any real hills, atleast none that should cause any troubles, so it should be the sprinters who have a shot at winning. Let’s see who’ll start here, shall we?

i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc463/fjhoekie/Great%20Ocean%20Road%20Classic/PCM0001_zpsafa15ce9.png

Starting with the home favourites, who could get an extra morale boost from riding in front of their own fans, in their own country.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Fletcher – Garneau is the team with the most fans here. The team from New Zealand is here with Aussie sprinter Cameron Meyer, who should have an excellent lead-out man in the form of Vanderaerden.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Bank of Ireland Cycling also brings an Aussie sprinter here, Damion Drapac. Irishman Peter Hawkins should be his lead out.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/esc.png Eddie Stobart Pro Cycling brings no less than five Australians here, with Renshaw as a potential leader. I say potential leader because Opie should be about as fast as Renshaw.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/reg_zpsf2e631b7.png Risa – Ergon is the last team to bring an Australian leader to this race, and Matthews could well be the strongest of the four Australian leaders. With Sutton as his helper Matthews is one of the favourites to take a win here.

The other favourites here are: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Matt Rowe, who is stunningly fast but probably he could use an extra helper or two. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ano.png Aleksandr Serebriakov should always be considered a favourite in CT races, and with a train including Hochmann and Iglinksi he’s in a really strong position. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Juan José Haedo also has a strong support team, both Crespo and Duque are capable of getting him the right position when the sprint starts. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Marco Guillén has proven he can win races last year, and even though this race might be a bit too long for him he could be up there, and if he is, watch him!

Behind those there is a long list of sprinters who could sneak in to the the top 5, if not more. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Alex Rasmussen, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/evo.png Eloy Teruel, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Benoît Sinner, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lpu.png Kevin Peeters, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lin.png Mattias Westling, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/spr.png Azizulhasni Awang, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ttt.png Michael Vingerling and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Armindo Fonseca should all be there.

Finally there’s a third group sprinters who are fast, but not as fast as those already mentioned. They need some luck to get in to the top 10, but surely could do better if positioned well. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcu.png Sébastien Chavanel, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mlj.png Artur Gajek, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Mauro Richeze, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Khayabkhyrvaa Uugunbayar and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Saïd Haddou lack the top speed. A final mention goes to i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Tiziano Dall’Antonia, a rider with a rare skillset which makes him a favourite for any flat-rated race he’s in. He lacks the top speed others have, but he always finds a way to do well!

Excellent preview! Hoping Haddou can pick up a few points, if not any amazing result.

Cool preview, maybe you should crop the starlist (just because it will look better)?

I am really curious to see what's going to happen with Schinker/Dall'Antonia duo. Hope one of them can get a Top 10 here. Anything more than that would be big bonus.

Pretty packed startlist - looks like Forero's pretty much the only top CT sprinter missing here Pfft Should make very interesting viewing as a neutral though.

A Top10 would be a dream result here, anything that brings at least some points in is appreciated, though Pfft

The season goes on for Siam Cement, hoping for Khayabkhyrvaa Uugunbayar to score some points. Otherwise January will be a 0 points month for Siam Cement!

C'mon Tiziano! I'm rotting for him, maybe he can pull off something like Donetsk last season.

Hoping the Eddie Stobart boys put in a good ride here in Australia Wink

I'd say less than a win would be slightly disappointing for this one with my two best guys here.

After last year's season of constant disappointment from Awang the goal is simply to score some points. Hopefully he'll be able to get us off the mark in our Asia Tour goal.

I would be surprised if Teruel can sneak into the top 5. Everything in the Top 15 is okay. Hopefully, all of Teruel, Dupont and Saramotins try to join the sprint..

Thought I would be the team with least riders, but turns out that I got one more rider than the control team.

Really not expecting much from Guillen here without any support. I hope nevertheless that Cano - Guillen duo will bring me some points throughout the season and not prove entirely wasted.

Anything less than a podium would be a massive disappointment here.

Let's hope for those Aussies to do better than the Aussies did at the Down Under Classic! Cheering for Drapac and Meyer, just like in New Zealand Wink maybe a Bit early with the preview, seeing that NZCC ain't finished tomorrow, most probably Pfft

Anyway, should be fun. Go Aussies!

Darn, I thought Peeters would be amongst the top favourites here, seems like the sprinter field is really strong in the ManGame
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Those speed bumps do not look nice for Rasmussen, but we'll see what happens. Maybe Niki's nursing on the flats an get him to the finish. I doubt it.

Important race for TomTom here. STA should help, but that's not exactly an advantage for Vingerling, I suppose.

Well, I think this will need to be posted after NZCC is finished with lots of riders in both races.
