It is time for Paris-Tours, the sprinters classic. As ever a lot of big-name fastmen from the Pro Continental ranks.
The race is 234 kilometres long and will most likely be decided in mass sprint in a big group. Other things could go down though. Wind is a factor if there is any, and then there are the small punchy hills in the finale, which for the most are so short that they don't cause a big selection.
Let's talk favourites. By the looks of it there are five top favourites here. Maxime Vantomme, Danilo Napolitano, Jürgen Roelandts, Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh. Expect Rothaus, Evian, Bouygues, airBaltic and Vueling to try to control this race to set it up for these five guys.
In the second rank, but still fast guys indeed are the likes of Hoffmann, Kupfernagel, Avelino, Drujon, Kreder, Haussler and Hutarovich. Position one of these in a good position and they should deliver.
What if there's no mass sprint, you say? What then? In that case we will either have a select group of puncheurs sprinting it out, or a solo win, which is most likely not going to happen in this kind of race.
There's only one way to find out, eh?

I really hope Vantomme will easily survive the hill in the end to make a podium here.
Geschke could do well here in case the hill is ridden fast (if he is not waiting for Vantomme then). |

Napolitano is leader as I don't expect much damage from the hills. If there is then Sonnery could surprise. Looking forward to it. |

My penultimate race. It's going to be decisive we need all the points that we can get. Such a packed startlist reduces Avelino's chances, but who knows, maybe if he is in a good day the result will come. Fingers crossed.
Btw nice preview nico.

Lots of big competitors here so Drujon really has to perform on home soil. He has been great with consistent top 10s in sprint classics and anything less than that here could be disastrous.

Would be great if all teams over me in the rankings here would fail... (A)

Ouch.
At least I get some points with 13/14/22 and some promotion teams did not score a lot neither.
Tinkoff secured it now.
Bouygues with a big step.

Very poor race for us, but never really expected anything. Rijntjes on the attack early on was a good way to get on camera. |

I was hoping that the late hill would not become a major decider for this race. But congratulations to Tinkoff, Kozontchuk's attack couldn't have been more well-timed. Also
After VW-Mapei's triumph in Torino, Bouygues also shows they can't be discounted for promotion it seems.

Another brutal sprinters race for AMEX. We invested too many Euros on sprinters and we have had almost zero success. I season waylaid, but hopefully with lessons learned to build on for the future.

There's bound to be a lot of disappointed managers with this crazy result, but for the neutral viewer it was awesome. (helps that the promotion candidates score big as well)
Thanks for the report and heroic effort for Tinkoff to seal the deal(?)

Quite a hectic finish, for me fairly believable for the Paris Tours, though would have expected a few more sprinters to be at the front.
Some teams did really well out of it. Have to admire the plucky Tinkoff rider.
Does hint at the possible carnage in the upcoming protour flat classic.

Wow, Vitoria and Hoffman are tailor made exactly for this, great job from them to escape the chaos and finish 3rd and 4th, that is nice result in penultimate race after 0 point September for Metinvest.
Congrats to Tinkoff, game is so kind to this team.

What a win for Tinkoff! Beautiful.
Feared that Kennaugh had been left behind, but seems he made it through with little to no help. Had hoped for more, perhaps even a win. 9th is OK given the circumstances. |
