On almost every hilly/mountain stage, the teams of the big favorites do no hard pulling at the front to reduce the peloton like you see IRL. Instead, the favorites just attack, while the rest of the peloton just sits up and forms that ugly "wall" at the front of the peloton that is impossible to get through. This is incredibly demetrial to the game and is unbelievably unrealistic.. |

My opinion as well. I still wonder why so many in this forum praise the mountain AI.
But I make sure that my riders are in the very front of the peloton before they enter the last climb.

I agree. Wheter I set the pace or not, all serious GC contenders just attack at the bottom of the last climb, sometimes on the second last climb from the group of 140 riders.
Another unrealistic thing is that some riders try early attack. Nothing unusual, but when I set the high pace, they get caught after 3 kms or so, and as soon as they get caught, they immediately launch next attack (exactly the same riders). And it happens several times despite they prove they are unable to maintain their lead over peloton on a longer distance.
The most annoyning thing is when my rider gets stuck though. It happens not only in the big peleton, but one time he got stuck in just 3-riders breakaway! I tried to attack by him and he couldn't move, because one rider was in front of him, and another was next to him.
It is also beyond stupid when I prepare my sprinter for a sprint, and then, someone at the front decides to slow down, and my sprinter needs to slow down as well and he can lose even 50-60 places in the peloton without the slightest fault of himself! If it happens during the final few kilometers, you can do nothing to bring your sprinter back at the front with enough energy to have a good sprint.
One time it also happened that here was a break of about 10 riders with 3 riders from my team and I tried to make a sprint train. I put my first rider on a dot but he couldn't move at all, because he was positioned at the back of this group. The pace dropped so badly, because other expected me to work, that the group behind reduced a 2 minutes gap within 500 meters or so. And it was around 3-4 kms to go.
It's a bit like PCM going backwards, because in PCM2010 I didn't have such an unrealistic or stupid outcome during a stage.

i remember several posters raving about the mountain ai, which imo is somewhat far fetched. In regards to mountains, i see cyanide has been able to make small differences in stats count, so there are small time differences and groups formed, Nothing to do with ai, but more about how the game is scaled.
This ai probem isjnt just for hilly or mountain stages, the start of almost every stage, results in a rider block, riders being in the way and "postponing" the start of the stage. Until i break this block, the stage is being nullified by this. Quite weird. |

Exactly my thoughts. I cannot see why everyone thinks that the mountain AI is so much better than last year. Yes, there are a lot more small groups on longer climbs but there is no real artificial intelligence involved. The stage favourites just attack either right on the foot of the last climb, or sometimes even on the second to last climb. Basically that's it. Great mountain AI |

might this be a DB issue ? I noticed that a lot of the favourites have high "attack" (or however it´s called) ratings. Anybody experimented with this ? |

There is no attack stat. How is the column called in the DB? baroudeur?
If yes, then that would be the fighter stat.
You should find many discussions in this forum about that stat. |
