This is a question that has been bugging me for quite sometime now, and I am not sure if there is a solution or not that I am missing.
When I create a stage, making the road is easy enough for me, but I think I am missing something. Let's say I make 2 points that go over a hill. I put one point on one side of the hill and one on the other, even if they are little bumps. When I do this, the road basically just stays flat and it bends the ground to stay flat. If I am not explaining this good enough I can post a picture.
Is There a way I can get the road to STICK to the ground, and not change the elevation for me?

Its just hard in general because I make the stage from "Top View" so I cant really tell.

Sadly, there is no way. That would be nice though...

You never use 3D view?
What you're asking for is VERY easily done if you're working in 3D instead.

If I use 3D mode then how can I make the road the exact same path as the .gpx file? I won't have that black line will I?

I guess Pellizotti understood that you only use Top View for the entire stage. Creating the roads is done by everybody I guess in top view (there's no way to have the .gpx line appear in 3D). In Europe, the roads usually have enough curves so that you don't have spots where a same straight stretch of road includes an ascent and descent together. In Canada I remember finding several of these when creating a few stages, similarly to US.
In these cases, what you can do is, after having the route created, go into spline camera in 3D and just 'take a tour' through your roads. If you notice any weird terrain, add a road point there

It doesn't seem worth the trouble Anyways, my stages aren't that bad to the point that needs to be done at least not yet

What I wrote wasn't really something to be done on stages that are bad, more like a part of the process of creating stages in regions where there are long straight sections of road
