So it's accidentally gone a whole month without a PCT/CT rankings update. April saw 6 stage races, and 7 classics. And with Timofey Kritskiy's win at the Tour of Vancouver, this is the 2nd month in a row where Tinkoff scored the most points.

Haussler/Gerdemann teamed up in Ostedeutschland to put 2nd, while Bouygues won Hel van Het Mergelland with Roelandts and saw Taaramae deliver some good points too.

HTC-Nieuwsblad surprised with 2 stage race victories, Tropicale Amissa Bongo (174 points) and Tour of Japan (157). Jaguar-Eritel actually averaged better over those two races though, taking 173 in both. The stand out in Japan were of course Meiji-Cannondale, as they scored 281.

Mobil-Castrol bounced back from being the worst team of all in March, to the best CT team in April. Alex Ciocan bookended their month with wins, while Dall'Antonia soloed to victory in Donetsk. They are the only CT team in the Top 23 points scorers this month - impressive.

Worth a note that of Kenya Airways 177 points, which put them 25th, 163 came from the C1 Tropicale Amissa Bongo after Khalilikhosrhoshani pulled off a massive shock performance. In contrast, you only have to look at Adira in Ostdeutschland as an example where the C1 stage race gamble for a CT team did not pay off.

The reign of Hollister is over after a slow month for them, theyre down to 3rd, and only going to slip further in the short term as theyve sent all their best riders to the Giro.

Having briefly led earlier in the season, Rothaus - Aegon caught Hollister up, actually shared the lead for a couple of races, before moving clear. Bellis' Giro dell'Appellenio win was their highlight this month, but elsewhere they kept chipping away and scoring points.

Tinkoff continue their rapid rise and go 2nd. 55% of their points have come from Timofey Kritskiy though, and he now takes a 2 and a half month break. This will be a crucial period for their promotion challenge - to see if they can stay at the top without their leader. If Kiryenka keeps up his strong form, the answer may be yes.

Bouygues Telecom have replaced ING Cycling Project in the promotion positions, with Team Bpost remaining 5th. With two stage race victories, HTC Nieuwsblad climb into the Top 10. Right now theyre looking closer to matching roturn's pre-season prediction of 11th than their own fears of relegation.

A 7 place climb is good news for Prio-Porto, while Vueling are making slow progress but at least still going upwards, now in 15th. Just below them are Bintang and VolksWagen - all 3 tipped to have a very strong season, all 3 still waiting to put a strong of good performances together.

The Tour of Japana really rescued Meiji - Cannondale. Up to 20th just as they were starting to see a dangerous gap emerge to the safety positions. They are just above Amex who also had a much improved month. Oz remain 23rd, despite key rider Rogers having 3 races this month. Duo Differdange worked, but Vancouver and Japan did not - worrying times ahead for the Australians?

Swedbank-PEAB has escaped the relegation zone, but Meiji's Japan performance pushes them back on. Ahead of them are two sliding teams in Alstom and AirBaltic, so they do have something to aim it.

There is a small gap emerging to the bottom 4 now, although Repsol have started to improve their season. Evian and Lukoil are now locked together, while Armavia have now fallen into their expected position.

Current projections suggest the Top 4 at the moment will remain that way come the end of the season, with Tinkoff holding a clear advantage right now. VolksWagen are the most notable improvement, but they need to start scoring points - currently they are just seeing their pprd decrease.

Amex and Alstrom are two other teams who are currently riding better than their ranking suggests. In contrast are Cisco, with Efimkin perhaps papering over the cracks of what has not been an all-round team scoring effort so far.

Just as it is the same 4 who would promote, it is the same 5 who would relegate. Meiji and WWE clearly cannot rest on their laurels however - just as in the other standings, Meiji only escape the bottom 5 here arter 46.8 pprd in Japan.

Having already established that Timofey Kritskiy has 55% of Tinkoff's points, it is hardly a surprise to see the Russian retain his Individual standings lead.

Still 2nd after his Philadelphia International triumph, Nolan Hoffman actually has 58% of Metinvest' points. The surprise of the season to be going so well, he is currently turning his squad into a Top 10 team. Can it last?

4th and 5th Pozzovivvo and Efimkin both have 51% of their own teams points, while 3rd placed Taaramae is a little lower on 45%.

Sram-Riboxx duo Gerdemann and Haussler are new entrants into the Top 10, while Florentino Marquez has climbed 12th - 2 stage race victories out of 2 having shunned the more popular mountain stage races. Strategy paying off!

Kenya Airways took the lead after the surprisingly strong performance in Gabon, but only using 2 race days since then has meant their lead has now gone again.

Allianz-BMW now top the tables, just holding off Kappa-ENI after a strong Glava Tour for Scarponi. Gazelle have slipped to 4th, while Die Berg Komt Er have replaced a quiet Iberia in the promotion spots.

Risa-Ergon have swapped positions with Team Privatbank, while the stand out team of the month were Mobil Castro, and they are rewarded with an 8 place jump to 11th.

The only other teams able to improve their pprd this month were Pribatbank, MTN and JK Cycling.

Dietmahr Mehr-Wenige still leads the individual standings, but Michele Scarponi is slowly closing that gap. The German has 64% of his team points, compared to the Italian's 38%.

Mobil-Castrol started the month with no rider in the Top 40 of the Individual standings, but that is all change now as they have Dall'Antonia in 5th and Ciocan in 6th. A jump of 140 places for the Romanian.

A good month for Chris Sutton too, as he rises from 53rd to 9th.

Asia Tour

It was the Tour of Japan this month, and Cisco saw their lead reduced as Meiji leap up into 2nd. Jaguar go 3rd, with Oz Cycling up to 4th and ING now 5th. Not a huge scoring race for any of Evian, Sauber and Armavia but they keep their Asian ball rolling at least.

Efimkin still leads individually, with Castano up one spot to 3rd. Jianhua Ji is now the best Asian, in 5th place.

Rothaus have remained ahead of Tinkoff, and the pair of them still have that 500 point lead over Bpost and Sram, with more on the rest of the field. It was a good month for UPC who go from 19th to 7th.

Kritskiy keeps his individual lead, but up to 2nd now is Linus Gerdemann. Maxime Vantomme is up one to 3rd, with teammate Lars Boom now 5th. Vasili Kiryenka is a new entry to the Top 10, up to 6th from 11th.

Was a good month for us. Should have been a great one after nearly 30pprd at Amissa Bongo, but our other races were duds.

Mobil had an amazing month which is not surprising after their amazing performances in Norway and Donetsk. Congrats to Miguel!

Seeing that my top riders still have lots of race days left, I can be quite optimistic I guess.

Bellis only used 13/46 days,
Boom 27/46,
Vantomme 15/53 (even more impressing to see him in 6th)
Geschke 38/61.

So in especially Bellis/Vantomme should be fine for lots of more points.
