The first cobbled classics have already been raced in the ManGame and so it's time for the Crits Series to do the same.
We're heading for Belgium and either sprinters, puncheurs AND cobblers will get a chance to ride the fast circuits there.
R1/ Lommel
R2/ Aalst
R3/ Leuven
R4/ Lombardsijde
R5/ Antwerp
4 of the 5 races will take place in Flanders, while we have a visit to Lombardsijde (just at the Northern Sea) on fourth day. Two cobbled stages (first in Aalst, final in Antwerp) will provide some Northern Classic-feelings, as well as a chance for both sprinters and cobblers to fight for the overall here.
The Series will kick off in Lommel, with a pan-flat race, then a rather "easy" cobbled race through Aalst. The puncheurs will love to see a hilly stage in Leuven, and after that the Profronden will be decided in a flat (Lombardsijde) and a tough cobbled race in Antwerp, where we also have a "Roubaix-finish" in the outdoor velodrome of Antwerp (Ter Beke) Cycling Centre.
14 Teams with 5 riders each are invited to this Crit Series. Most of them will come from Belgium, obviously. The initial plan is to also invite 4 teams from Netherlands, plus 1 for Luxembourg.
All PT/PCT/CT managers are able to nominate their riders. If many managers want to nominate riders for a specific country, I will try to form a well balanced team with riders from several teams.
The maximum average is 72,99. This will secure that mainly these riders will participate that don`t get many chances to ride on their own in other races.
Two teams will have the chance to start as their own team: HTC Nieuwsblad and Team BPost (but it depends on the count of total nominations and will be decided once those are done).
So, the rules for nominations remain (almost) the same as usual: all managers with eligible riders (from Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) can nominate up to 5 riders (in order of preference). While we will balance the teams as fair as possible.
As cobbled Crits won't happen too often, we also want to give international cobblers a chance to participate: max 2 spots per team will be available for those Internationals. Those riders have to be minimum 71 in Cobbles and now it's getting unfair: the race organization will definitely look for best possible Internationals. So a 75-cobbler will be garantueed a spot here (while a 71 may have to wait).
You have time to nominate your players until Friday, 8th of March, 10:00 CET. |

We can finally nominate!
Team Puma - SAP nominates:
Maarten Wynants
Wilco Kelderman
Mauricio Sanz (73 COB)
Jetse Bol
Tom Dumoulin
Wynants should be a top favourite in the cobbled stages, Kelderman one of the better riders in the hilly one.
Sanz and Bol are super-domestiques and Dumoulin is an allround helper.

After impressive showings in the first two protour cobbled races, Timothey Vangheel and Kevin Ista are keen to race in the crit series coming up in Belgium.
Their teammate Frenchman Alexandre Aulas is also interested as an international wild-card.
Tom Stubbe meanwhile has decided to give this a miss preferring to concentrate on training for upcoming protour races.
Simply Red Bull nominate:
Timothey Vangheel
Kevin Ista
Alexandre Aulas (France) - cobbled specialist
Stages look great on paper, look forward to see what they play like.
