The Dorpenomloop Rucphen is the first C2-classic in March 2013 and what country would be better for a flat classic than the Netherlands?
The profile is like you expect a dutch race to be: flat, 100% flat. There's no difficulty and the race is not too long (189kms) as well. So we better expect the sprinters to take control here, even though a one-day classic should always be a place for some fighters to try their luck in a break or on their own.
Startlist/
Teams and favorites/
 Banco Nacional de Costa Rica teams up with Gert Steegmans as their captain and a potentially good train in Jose Luis Cano and Marco Guillén.
 Die Berg Komt Er has an interesting mix of (semi-) strong sprinters: JÃri Hochmann may lead the team here, accompanied by Emanuele Rizza, Sébastien Chavanel and Igor Abakoumov.
 Allianz-BMW brings a "flying dutchman" in Hans Dekkers. Truly motivated he will be.
 AMEXpc will hope for Jake Keough to deliver. He's definitely one of the fastest here and has a decent support.
 Credexbank is another team with a couple of fast sprinters and it will be interesting to see, who has the legs to take a leaders-role: Simon Clarke, Alois Kankovský or Siarhei Papok.
 Ricki Nelson will go for at least a podium for ANC-Halfords. He has the skills, that's certain.
 Swedbank is led by Mattias Westling, having some nice support in veteran Thor Hushovd.
The other teams hold outside chances only:  Kappa-Eni with Francesco Lasca,  Adira with Artur Gajek or Mohamed Sarrif Salleh,  Risa-Ergon brings a decent team with Jonas Aaen Jørgensen, Alexander Kristoff and Krister Hagen.
 Vattenfall (Sami Tiainen) and  Gazelle (Roy Sentjens as leader) hope for a rather chaotic race with a surprising outcome.

Focussed on selecting Eastern European/Portugese races too much I guess, this would've been a no-brainer to send him here...

Can't say I'm unhappy with this startlist, but with my bad luck so far this season I'll probably find a way to fall outside the top 10. Guillen leading out Steegmans is beast, but I'm going for Kankovsky.

AMEXpc brings the American sprinter Jake Keough as thier leader and he is supported by two young Germans Rudiger Selig and Theo Reinhardt. The other key rider we have is Yannick Stoltz who is very strong on the flats.
He should be more than capable of riding down any breakaway and if they allow him in the break it could be day over.

Just couldn't fit all flat classics in the 150 race days together with hilly and mountainous races so Lay will have to take our points in flat stages of bigger tours. Would have had a good chance here but just couldn't fit in.
Good luck to the teams here, think Dekkers will win.

Startlist seems to imply wind and I don't mean the type that is caused by excessive curries.
The winner surely will be the one that wheelsucks the best or perhaps for the sprinter that judges his move the best. I think Dekkers will pop up and take this one, he should be used to teh parcours and conditions.

Lasca should be able to at least get into the top ten. Seems like a great race for my sprinter team, when the number of teams is small enough to score some simple points. |

For a flat classic it was pretty exciting stuff, as expected a very well reported sprint that with a good use of mini flags (I'm a bit lazy with that sometimes I'll admit).
Steegmans was close to having the perfect lead out there, though to me he has never really been a pure sprinter so understandable he was just outpaced there. Kankovský was a bit of a surprise and underlines that some of these weak back up stat sprinters can star in the C2 sprints (who knows Bos eh?).
AMEX and Swedbank meanwhile were woeful methinks PCT's are on a bit of a hiding to nothing sending squads to the C2 classics.

Kankovsky is a really good sprinter in C2 races. 3rd is pretty weak for him actually.
Was a little bit pissed off to see one of my riders falling again, but I can't be unhappy with 60 points. Still need to make up a lot though, so I hope March will be my month.
