Fitness vs skills
rovers
Hello.

I am new to Pcm12, been a real active Cym4 player in the past, but haven't quite liked the complexity of the newer versions. But will give Pcm12 a go now.
Did not find any good posts covering my exact questions, so I am making a new one :-)

Am I correct to assume the total amount of training is the same, made up from specialisation and fitness training?

If so, will a riders skills progress faster if you have little or no fitness training throughout the season or is the progression made up by more parameters?

How much impact does the trainer have on a riders skill progression?

In advance, thanks :-)

I've never played CyM4, so I'm not sure if the total amount of training is as you've described (not sure what these means in CyM4). I can answer the other two questions though Pfft

Fitness and fatigue doesn't influence the rider training. As for the trainer impact, it is directly proportional to his "stat" in that kind of training. A trainer with 5 on climber will make the rider progress 5 times faster when he's training "climber", a trainer with 10 on climber will make the rider progress 10 times faster. Should be noted, though, that even riders that haven't got a trainer assigned do in fact in the DB have one 'default' trainer. The stats of this default trainer vary from career to career, but he's obviously not very good. However this means that a rider with no trainer won't develop 10 times slower than a rider with trainer with a 10 stat; it'll more like be a 5~3 times slower (assuming that the default trainer has 2~3 on that stat).

But this of course is only considering the trainer influence on the rider. There are several other things that influence the rider's progression. If you want a complete explanation, I suggest you read this:

Thanks for the reply :-)

In Cym4 you had a specialization program for each rider.
You also had a bar going from 0,10,20,30...100% meaning 0% fitness was 100% training specialization and 100% fitness in the bar was 0% specialization.

It was also easy to follow the progression as each stat was increased with a ceirtain percentage each day for a given program.

Will do some more reading in the post you linked to.

Training and fitness is not linked in PCM12.

The training works the same in PCM12, but you do not see these numbers, unless you look into the table using an editor.

I've had a look at your editor, there is plenty of info to get :-)

Seeing riders who have 7 in potential and a current value for each stat and 0 in potential value for the same stats, reading from the cdb before a game is created, then the limit value is there after a game is created and you open the career cdb.

Is this potential value created differently for each game?

Does the potential 7 mean a maximum number of stat points, which gives a specific avg. stat level?

If so, does it exist a table to show the different max for each potential lvl?

The answer to all your questions is yes.
But as far as I know, it is not a table in the DB but a XML file which contains the max values.
