Im using ASO...but out of being curious, what do you feel is the best DB we have in the downloads. Kinda wana see who is using what and see if ASO is what I should keep...or if another maybe better.

Why should you change if the game feels good for you? |

You could be missing something that you find even better.
As for the best DB, it really depends on what you consider best. For example, if for you best is the DB that has the most teams and riders, you should consider downloading one of the Giant DBs available out there. I see that your location is Houston; if you're from the USA, perhaps you'll find it interesting to play with several American and British teams and American/British races, which are included in the PCMDaily DB. So imo it really depends on what are you looking for, that you think would create the best gameplay experience for you. And that isn't the same for most people

1-I have had some glitches with ASO.
2- Some have altered stages in races. Thus maybe making it more interesting.
3- To maybe try something different. Ive used ASO now for around 8 months.
4- Because in picking what DB to use...only 4 where available when I downloaded. So with 20+ now...one is perhaps better all around than ASO was when I got it.
Im not all for American teams, but I do use say 45% American riders. What I am looking for is the best for team kits, gear and of ofcourse riders (cant stand the fake name DB the game comes with).

Well, I don't think you'll find much difference in team kits. I believe most 2012 DBs for PCM12 will use the shirts provided by Cyanide (the ones that came with the game), since they are top quality. So not much difference from DB to DB there.
On equipment, well, I don't know about all DBs, so I'll just speak on PCMDaily's DB, which has 489 selectable equipment pieces. Most PT and PCT teams have team specific equipment, there are champion frames/helmets, and so on.
Concerning riders, if the only thing you mean is fake names, I don't think any serious DB will have any rider with fake names.
You also mentioned there are more than 20 DBs now. Keep in mind most of those are smaller packs, usually released shortly after the game was released, before the bigger packs. The bigger packs are not many (f.e. PCMDaily DB, StanosBase, which is based on the 1st version of the PCMDaily DB, the ASO DB you were using).

Thanks for the info. Sounds like its a toss up after reading between PCM DB and the one mentioned by someone in this thread.

When looking for the PCM DB, I find all patches and am not sure what I need to download. Can anyone shed some light on that?

Yes. Were you looking for the PCMDaily DB?
This are the downloads you need:
1. PCMDaily Expansion Pack for 1.3.0.0
https://pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro_dow...hp?did=888
2. PCMDaily Expansion Pack for 1.4.0.0 - Update for 1.3.0.0
https://pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro_dow...hp?did=896
That is all, if you just want to play with the 2012 DB.
If that's enough for you, don't read the things under this
If you want to play with 2013 teams, equipment, routes, I recommend the 2013 DB from PCMDaily.
First, you have to do step 1+2, mentioned above.
After that, you have to download:
3. PCMDaily 2013DB Public Beta.
https://pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro_dow...hp?did=900
You can also skip step 3 and wait. The full 2013 DB, with a lot of features, will be out in a few days/1 or 2 weeks. You won't need the PCMDaily 2013DB Public Beta for that, but if you want to play in 2013 style as soon as possible, you should download the Public Beta.
You should keep an eye on this site's home page. The full PCMDaily 2013 DB will appear very soon.

Is that based on the broken Tour Down Under stages, the lousy stats of relatively unknown riders not from the Benelux (for example Lutsenko & Serebryakov), cobblestone specialists skipping Tour Of Flanders, IAM Cycling in the wrong division or time trials seen as road races? Just to name a few bugs.
Stanosbase 2012 was good, but the 2013 one should have had some basic testing before release. Maybe it will be quite decent after all the bugs are fixed (however, I doubt it), but for now I cannot recommend it to anyone.
What I would recommend is waiting a few days for the Daily 2013 DB or, if you're really patient, waiting for the French Community 2013 DB to be released in March. |

Im going to use the PCM 2013 Beta. Most say it will have a download or patch to make it 100% complete when it is all the way finished. So, it seems the best bet.

Yes, the full 2013 DB will be released very soon. But the Beta got plenty of features already

Just to clear up: Yes, you will be able to install the V1 on top of the Public Beta, but to benefit from all changes (most?), you will have to start a new career with the V1. |

Yes, the PCM Daily 2013. And then when the full version is ready...update it.
Do I need to install the PCM Daily DB as explained above 1st? Or just the beta?
And yes, I have yet to play since my reinstall. So, a new season is going to be what I do.
Thanks for all the help. I never owned a game I could alter so much. And I am trying to learn it all.

Or you could do what I do and pinch the best bits of the custom d/b's and simply overwrite the parts you want to use on top of your saved career using Lachi's editor. This way you can update equipment, stages, 2013 teams, rider stats etc without losing your saved career. This is a relatively easy way to continue your career using all the updates included in the custom databases without having to completely re-install everything every time one is released. Obviously you don't get the full benefits of the complete d/b, but it keeps me happy. I can provide a basic tutorial if anyone's interested. |
