Hey, I am Heinrich Haussler, you probably know me as Barbie, Beans or
All time 2nd.
I'm born in Iverell, Australia and started cycling because I wanted to ride
the Tour the France. So on the age of 14, I moved to Germany and went to a cycling school. And it all worked out great. After signing a trainee contract in 2005 for Geroldsteiner, I immediately won a stage in the Vuelta! and the upcoming years were fantastic aswel. In 2009 I joined the Cervélo TestTeam and became 2nd in Milan-Sanremo and 2nd in Tour of Flanders. Unfortunately I crashed in 2010 and had an ''off-season''. Now in 2011 I want to return to the Prof Peleton to win my main goal : The tour of Flanders.
To win this race, I joined the Garmin - Cervélo team. Here's a quick look at their ability of Performance
And here's a photo of my stats:
Database and Info:
Spoiler Database: PCMExpansionpackV1(2011) and some races added
Dificulty: Hard
Progress of Stats: 0,5
Own team budget: 100% (doesn't matter because Im using Garmin)
Awesomeness: 100%
Photo's provider: Imageshack
Schedule :
Our team has 5 schedules:
#1 is what I'm using and it will focus on the Flanders Classics and then the Amgen Tour of California, The Tour de France, USA Pro Cycling Challenge, Canada Classics, the WC and Tour of Beijing.
#2 is focused on Paris-Nice/Tirreno Adriatico, LBL, Amgen Tour of California, Tour de France, USA Pro Challenge, Il Lombardia, and the WC
#3 is focused on the Giro and Vuelta and Paris-Nice/Tirreno.
#4 is focused on Tour of Qatar(Which is a goal suprisingly), Giro, Vuelta and Tour of Beijing.
#5 is focused on Tour de Romandie, Tour de Pologne, Eneco Tour, Tour de Suisse and WC TT, Beijing, Lombardia |

The teams material are:
As normal bike we ride on the Cervélo S5:
And as back-up bike, the Cervélo S3
The TT bike is the Cervélo P4:
And our wheel provider will be Mavic.
Castelli has created a perfect new team outfit :
Gloves :
Giro has designed a perfect Helmet for our team:
And TT Helmet :
Our crankset and shifting system are sponsored by SRAM
So our material is of the best, The S5 is the most aerodynamic bike in the peleton, that should cause our team to win alot !

The fight for this jersey, and I want to win it.
After a trainingcamp with the whole team in South France, I start the season with the Australian Championships.
Matt, Brett, Travis, Cameron and Jack will support me in this race
(Wilson,Lancaster,Meyer,Meyer,Bobridge)
It is a hot and sunny day, not my favourite condition but because I wasn't counted to the favourites, I attacked and because no one followed me, I went solo to the line. Allan Davis and Timothy Roe tried to close the gap but I was too strong for them and the gap only grew. Eventually Gerrand, Clarke(Astana) and Evans attacked, I sent Bobridge to counter attack and let the whole team chase them to make Gerrans and Evans, the favourites, lose energy. Eventough my team did good work. They were only able to catch Evans and Clarke, Gerrans attacked again and downed the gap to 30 seconds on the top of the final climb. But I can downhill a lot better and won my first win of the season
Because of an internet problem, i couldn't upload any photo's but they will certainly be there the next race, The Australian Championships TT

Australian Championships Time Trial:
The pre-race favourites are
*** Evans, Rogers and Porte.
** Lancaster, Haussler, C.Meyer, Sutherland and Bobridge
* Wurf, T.Meyer,
It's a sunny and hot day again
I don't really know what I should expect from myself but I think a top 10 should be easy. My teammates Jack and Cameron however are the teams leaders for this race. Cameron has already won this race previous year so expactations are high.
Travis, Brett and Matt are the first three riders to start
And after a while I start.
And Jack starts a few riders after me
I felt during the race quite good and pas by Renshaw which isn't a big suprise
On my way to the final kilometers, I heard that Lancaster set a very good time and my teammate is having a great day.
Eventually the teams Favourite Cameron Meyer starts
He rides a perfect race and finishes First!
There was a moment of exitingness but when we saw that Rogers was too slow and Evans and Porte were having a bad day, we already knew that Cameron had won a great victory by the young rider.
The next race I'll be riding is aswel in Australia, The Santos Tour Down Under. See you soon! |

The Santos Tour Down Under is the only UCI Pro-Tour event in the continent of Oceania.
The race is a fairly flat race with only 2 hilly stages, so its an ideal route for the sprinters to win a Pro - Tour stage.
Except for Julian Dean, who is a Kiwi(NZ), our team is fully Australian with Cameron and Travis, Jack, Matt, Brett and Myself. The team is strong and my goals are to win a stage and hopefully win the GC
I'll be the Leader for the GC and the lead-out sprinter. If I crash, Dean will be lead Sprinter and Cameron the Leader for GC.
Favourites for the GC are :
*** Haussler, Flecha and Breschel
** Boasson Hagen, Sagan and Cavendish
* Greipel, Petacchi, Rojas, Bennati.
Alot of sprinters so a stage win will be very hard
Stage 1:
*** Cavendish, Greipel, Rojas
** Bennati, Petacchi, Sagan
* Haussler, Hagen
The first stage is quite flat so it will come to a mass sprint.
Because there is a KOM price, I sent Travis to take the points and he managed to finish first on top of the hill.
After that Travis got caught and a few riders tried to break away now
After that they got joined by 8 more riders making the BOTD 14 riders!
With about 50 kilometers still to go, Cavendish, Petacchi, Greipel and Sagan sent some riders to the front to chase the BOTD.
With 34 KM to go Baden Cooke tries to make a jump to the Breakaway.
But he fails and gets caught a bit later.
Then something strange happens:
Coen Vermeltvoort lets open a gap and the peleton is split in two!?
The guys of Movistar immediately try to close the gap but they're too slow!
All our riders are still fresh in the end and so the whole team can help me in my lead out !
In the end, Julian Dean got passed by Cavendish his lead out Renshaw and I had to sprint too early. I came close to Cav but he was too strong and won his first win in the Season!
I didn't do bad after all and finished 2nd, another one for my career
Petacchi, Davis and Breschel finish 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Because Cavendish will wear the GC jersey tommorow, I am allowed to wear the sprinters jersey and Travis will wear the KOM jersey! He will definately try to defend it troughout the upcoming days.
Tommorrow more reports of stage 2 and 3 !

Stage 2:
The profile contains 1 hill in the middle of the race and a long downhill to the finish, an perfect day for the puncheurs and fighters. The day starts with alot of riders trying to get in the BOTD. In total 14 riders.
They got caught quickly and then a new break formed containing Travis!
Then we get the news that de Maar crashed hard, he was a Top - 10 container. He won't be able to do that now!
Travis does great and wins the KOM price! again
He also takes the Sprint for 6 points and tries to break away from the group
but they catch him quickly after that.
Now HTC and Lotto start to chase the BOTD and with 7 km to go Travis tries again !
Sutton immediately counter-attacks him and moves on trying to win the stage.
My lead-out was Jack, Brett, and Julian as last man.
Because Cav dind't have any guys left, he had to come from far and I could still follow Julian's wheel.
I opened my sprint as the last of all the sprinters and had to cycle faster if I wanted to win. But I managed to go faster and won my second win! of the year !
Cavendish got passed by alot of riders in the end. Meaning that I will move up to first place in the GC!
Aswell as in the points classification.
Travis will keep his KOM jersey and will also move up to the first position in the Youth Classification ! nice job of him.
Garmin now has all the leader Jerseys and we will defend them in the upcoming stages !
See you next time
- Heinrich Haussler
