Hi all,
For the last few weeks some people ask me how about to do a new historique database for pcm12.The year is 1996.
With this db you can be the great spanish rider of all times, Miguel Induráin rider of Banesto.More riders includes the great Gewiss Team with a young Berzin in his best form, and Mr 60% Riis of Team Telekom with Zabel and Ullrich; The Once with the combo of Jalabert and Zulle; The Mapei with Olano and Rominger, Carrera with Pantani and Chiapucci..Anyway every rider sucumbed to Riis that did,the best tour of his life.
Many more teams includes riders like Bugno in MG, Leblanc in Polti and Virenque in Festina, the great prologuist Chris Boardman etc.. Also is good to remenber that this year was the last year of Miguel Indurain, and with this db you can be the first man who can win the 6 tour consecutive.
I need help in the stages, maillots and shirts, so anyone that wanna help me and support, will be credit as well
This db will feature :
- Size/weight for the best riders.
- Rider regions.
- Riders popularity
- National champions
- 50 Teams in three divisions.
- All Team Jerseys for the correct 1996 year
- Real teams lineup for the most important races.
- World Cup system instead of Pro Tour Rankings
- Added complete palmarès for the last 5 years
- Records updated to the year 1995
.. This 1996 Db will be publish on 19 November of 2012

First of all, I like your dedication. I'm always been a fan of classic db's even the time back then was very dark. So big thanks for creating such DB's. I also like your plans regarding 80 teams and the calendar-system.
Here are my thoughts about this:
1) Make it not only stagerace-compatible, but rather also for career-game.
- This means, set the right regions for the sponsors, include for example the pcm-daily pack of sponsors or at least add those sponsors who were in cycling a few years later (CSC, Credit Agricole etc.), so if a sponsor runs out we have the possibility to sign a realistic new one. If this is too much work for you, then I'm okay with all sponsor-contracts till 2099, but please set the right regions in DYN_sponsor and DYN_sponsor_regions.
2) Race-Feeling
- I like your picture you shared above, but one thing I recognized already in your 2000 DB. Some riders wear helmets, others not. I would be a good thing if you decide which way you wanna go. Either all riders without or all riders with helmets. I do personally prefer the first one, because back then you saw barely helmets.
3) The most important thing: Take your time.
- I was very surprised you going on another DB so early. Honestly, I love it. But please, take your time you need to do this right. I think it would be very sad if you invest so much effort into this and the results would been a beta-version. I can just speak for myself here, but I'm not that stagerace-gamer, I like it to rewrite the history from a starting-point in the past. Hope you're able to deliver such a DB where we can do this.
Good luck with the project!

love the 2000db..any chance the riders could have their own numbers as many riders share the same few.

First, that isn't something that can be done or modified by a DB. Secondly, you can do it in the game: Options -> Graphics -> tick "One texture per rider"

I'm wondering if the potential levels are a litte too high? I guess the stats are based on the 1996 season and not the 1995 season, and the 1996 season was the one that made it clear that Berzin wouldn't make it as a top Tour de France contender.
He was only 27 years old and I guess a potential value of 8 would make him a real strong rider in the coming years? I don't think there were many indications of that in his 1996 season.
Maybe Olanos potential or mountain stats are a little too high? Hmm, maybe not. He was certainly expected to become one of the best stage race riders in the world, and had some great results, but in my opinion his mountian stats would never be higher than about 77. |

I agree.
@ Sali
I think its enough if you give just a very selected bunch of riders a '7', which should your max potential as well. There is no need for '8' potential, if you don't want to mess up the career-game . Riders like Virenque for example even don't deserve a '7' here. For pure climbers '6' will make it, too. |

Nice work Sali, but why everybody sucks on the hills so much? I know there is similar low hill stat for everyone showed, so it can be still balanced, except Jalabert is 7-10 points stronger than everyone else. I doubt he was 2-3 levels above everyone else like Pantani or Rominger. With this Jalabert can gain several minutes in every hilly stage right?
