I imagine this question will have been asked many times over the years, but I've not found any recent topics that are appropriate.
I always struggle with completing Paris Roubaix - in three versions of the game, I've never been able to win it. I've tried following the suggestions from the "tips and tricks" section on this site, but my riders fade with about 25km to go. I've even tried playing it in single classic mode for practice, where fitness is automatic and the best I've achieved is 3rd. I usually play with Team Sky, with Flecha as my main rider supported by Eisel, Hayman, Thomas and EBH. In this case the in-game tips are accurate; keeping up a certain Swiss machine will make my riders legs burn.
Anyone got any sure fire tactics that'll get me that elusive win?
I know an abusive way which isn't that realistic - but it's fun !
Try to get 1, maybe even 2 good domestiques in the break. Then wait till about 160-120km to go when there is a good long cobble section and get all your strong riders to the front (flecha EBH hayman eisel thomas). You can put them on relay at an effort of 40 to do this. (the peleton is just cruising about now so 40 is fine). When you hit the cobble section change the instructions of your riders to the dot (still 40 effort) - they will all ride away from the peleton. Switch ebh hayman eisel and thomas to relay at a much higher effort and watch the fun You can then use your man from the break to protect flecha for a bit.
It sounds dumb and would never work in real life for obvious reasons but in PCM all hell breaks loose when you do this and many of the big favourites are caught way down the bunch on the narrow roads and can lose 5 or so minutes instantly!
I'm playing through a career right now with Rabobank on Hard and won both Ronde and Paris-Roubaix with Lars Boom (78cobble) with this tactic.
For more fun this tactic also works in the Liege Bastogne Liege Classic - primarily because of the steep thin climbs. There is a steep climb about 160km from the finish in this race where you can ride your whole team off the front (you will need to use 80 effort for your domestiques with leaders on hold position as opposed to 40). In my same Rabobank career I won this with LLS (76 hill) using this tactic so it is effective!

Ah, the fucked up dot on PCM12, giving us incredibly realistic game as it has been seen few times before = breaking away on any terrain other than a flat asphalted road with any decent rider and effort over 70.. in PCM11 it was quite fine, the best riders followed your rider on dot if his effort was big enough to pull the group for example, but in PCM12 it's simply a joke.
