I'm really new to this game and also new to road cycling sport (As I've just got my Boardman road bike!!)
I've got few questions to ask u guys
1. whats the diff between hill and mountain?
2. I'm not quite sure I understand what does effort cursor button does
3. does the energy gel actually impact on stamina? coz I dont see the change, if it does, when should I use it?
4. I saw some threads mention about slow relay, what is it, and how do I do that?
Thank you so much for the answers |

1. There is a hilly/mo value in the DB for each stage that regulates the influence of hill vs mountain stat.
2. The effort cursor button makes the rider go at his own pace, independent of any group he is in.
3. The energy gel is for an extra poweful attack or sprint, from what I have heard.
4. The relay effort is regulated by the effort slider, so you can set the effort yourself if you want a slower or faster relay. However, if it is too low you wont be relaying as other riders are relaying harder. |

Thanks for the reply
Altho I've got another noob questions.
How does fetching water works? I let 2 riders go back to the end of peloton to get the water and once I bring them up to where the rest of my team are, nothing change, those guys in front still need the water.
I'm not sure how does it work exactly.
Thanks again |

Also Hills are Shorter Than Mountains
Like this:
MOUNTAIN : +5 km (Alpe D'Huez - Galibier Serre Chevalier etc.)
HILL : -5km (Mur De Huy - Mirador de Ezeao etc.)

I usually 1 rider to back when the riders have 0,5/2,0 water. Because there is a time when the rider going to back and give waters one-by-one. If you do that the other riders will not want to water extra. I think this is a game bug.
I'm sure it works good.

Getting water: Click the button for ONE rider and wait until he brought the water to everybody. If you give him any other order before he has given out the water, you will cancel it. In such a case, you have to send someone again, so don't cancel. |

It's not a bug, it's a new (and quite annoying sometimes) feature from PCM11, that when the riders are too thirsty they'll go by themselves get water. It's useful for when your riders are spread everywhere in a mountain stage for example, but really annoying when they do that just because your water carrier can't get to the front because he's blocked. I prefer the old way (rider performs worse when he's out of water for a long time), seems a bit more realistic as well.

I keep all my riders at the front on flat stages EXCEPT for my water guy. |

There is something I use to do when the rider who is bringing water gets blocked by other cyclists and you risk some of your cyclists to run out of water. When the bunch is going at a very slow pace, it is so packed that sometimes there isn't a clear path for your rider to pass. In that case you can relay for a little while at 55-65, so the peloton isn't so packed and spaces are created for your fetching rider to get through. When he is close to the head of the peloton, stop relaying, so he doesn't have to get all the way up to the head of the peloton. Don't do this in a climb, tho, because your fetching rider will get too tired (actually, try not to fetch water in a climb at all, except when close to the top of the climb). And, in any case, try to fetch your riders in advance, to prevent some of them from running out of water. 55-60 km is more or less the distance they can last after a refill (perhaps it is reduced if weather is too hot, or if the effort is too high, I don't know).
Anyways, I don't think the whole water mechanics adds strategic or tactical value to the game. It can be exploited by rising the pace when other teams are getting bottles, especially during a climb, but that is quite gamey. Moreover, it is likely the AI gets in trouble sometimes by fetching water when running out of it, not when it is best to do that, so you can see a lot of times AI teammates burning themselves by fetching water in high slope climbs.
