I was using Lachis editor to edit certain parts of my save game (Project 2100), but I can't save it. It gets about halfway before I get an error saying something like "Out of memory".
My save game is rather large since it sans 23 seasons. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

It's probably because of the largeness of the save game.

It's 6.3MB, but isn't there some way to get around it? It's quite annoying if I can't make any changes to the save game.
Is there any way to decrease the size of the file by deleting riders? Since I'm 23 seasons into the game, hundreds if thousands, of riders have retired and are just "sitting" there.
Is it as simple as clicking on a retired riders row in the Editor and deleting it? Or is there far more to it?

Do retired riders really stay on the DB?
Anyway, I'd guess that to delete them you should only delete them in DYN_cyclist and then put a 0 on their fkIDcyclist in DYN_palmares_cyclist. At least that's what should be done for deleting a rider outside of a savegame.

Well, when you go to the section with "Free Riders" in the game I can still find guys like Flecha, Evans and Cavendish.

My main problem is that I would like to get rid of some of the riders, but I'd like to keep their results in the races. Say I delete Contador who won several Tours. Will his name still be in the list of Tour-winners only "non-clickable", or will there simply be a blank area without any name?

As I said, if you delete him and change his line in DYN_palmares_cyclist to 0 in fkIDcyclist his results will keep there. If you don't the results will keep there as well, but soon a rider generated by the game might take the same ID he has and then you'll see another name instead of Contador's. (and Contador results in this rider profile box).

Thanks, I'll try that. I gave it a go earlier and removed 1000 riders, but I still got the message saying "Out of memory". Maybe removing more of them will do it.

Did you ever try another editor. For example using the full editor from Cyanide.
BTW: When exactly does this out of memory come? In my editor you never have to save, it would be possible to extract the cdb, edit and then create new cdb (and say no if it asks you about saving). But maybe you just use the word save but mean the creation of the DB. |

No, I haven't tried the official one. I had sort of given up on it. Will try it now.
"Save" is the wrong word. When I've made the changes I go to "Export to cdb" and try to overwrite the original file (don't worry, I have a backup). The memory-message pops up after a couple of minutes, maybe less.
Edit: I tried using the original editor, but I simply get a warning message saying that it couldn't find the xml-file in "Exports".

Are you sure that you are using the full editor correctly?
About the memory thing, you could upload your save and I have a look into it. Maybe we can find some data which is not needed but blows up your save enormously. |

'Official editor', 'original editor'... are you sure you're using the Full Editor?
