Team creation
9-Ball
Lachi? (or anyone else Smile

I've seen you address this sort of question in passing here and there but can't find any of the team creation tutorials you've referenced, which is likely my shortcoming, not yours.

What I'm looking for is a Sesame-Street-Simple tutorial on how to create teams from scratch for use in custom DBs in single stage races and ultimately career games. I'm using your (I assume Wink ) 'Lachi's Editor' (v10). I've done this before but back in PCM 2008 which was the last time I messed with all this stuff and everything looks a bit different.

I want to add 10-15 completely new teams to begin with. I'm going to be creating 2-3 historical databases. I would appreciate if you can point me at a reliable guide and explain how one goes about creating directory/file structures for new/custom team shirts, mini-shirts, logos, etc, as well as what one needs to review in the various DB tables toward having said teams prepped for use in Career mode, in terms of ranking, finances, etc.

Any help or links you/anyone might offer is appreciated.

I am not into DB making so I guess you mean somebody from the daily DB.

No, I don't think so. Just the process for adding a new/custom team, without replacing one of the existing teams. No matter on the DB part if you've not dealt with that. I'll figure it out as I go. Still, I would like to know the best process for creating a team without breaking other functions or causing other issues.

Like I said, I never did such a thing and I have ZIP knowledge about it.

Ah well, maybe I should have searched a bit longer instead of giving up Smile

I just found this:

First, you create the team in DYN_team. Then, you create a sponsor and assign the sponsor ID in fkIDsponsor_principal (DYN_team).

And then your reply to someone asking how to create a sponsor:
"Add a new line to the table DYN_sponsor"

All sounds pretty simple after all.

Is there anything else obvious one needs to do to have the team selectable for riders and so on?

Lachi,

my apologies - I had mixed you up with someone else. Disregard the questions here. I managed to find most answers. Thanks for the great editing tool. Wink

No problems, I guess you meant lluuiiggii, he knows much about DBs.

Well, not sure if needed anymore, but here's a small tutorial I wrote some time ago. It doesn't really go into the DB columns, basically the tables and directories, so if you have any doubt about those just ask Wink

I believe you're right - I did get you two mixed up, between prior forum discussions and then use of your excellent editor.

Luigi, thanks. That tutorial basically reinforces everything I've found out by trial and error this afternoon. I now have a basic test team set up with graphics and placeholder riders. About to test it. If my PC melts I'll be sure to post wailing questions in here.

So I basically have this working in a test DB - ironed out some issues after a few weird crashes and now I have a stable work-in-progress '86 template DB and am mapping out from there. A couple of questions did come up, however, and I'd appreciate it if either of you (or others) can shed light:

1. I've added the first created team at the bottom of DYN_team, on row 127. Are there known limits on how many teams can be added here, or other limits on the required dependent tables such as DYN_sponsor, etc?

2. Possibly related to that, looking at DYN_team, the entry row/ID 119 is an empty record (i.e. all values=0) except that gene_sz_suffixeMail='cyanide.com' and CONSTANT='LOSER_TEAM' - before adding a new team on row 127 I attempted to edit this entry and found the game crashed. I also note that there are many riders assigned to this 'team'. Am I right in concluding this is just a placeholder team for all unsigned riders but as such it can't be edited, or shouldn't be?

3. Are there any known issues with multiple use of sponsors across more than one team? e.g. if a sponsor such as Nissan is used for several teams as either 1st, 2nd or 3rd sponsor?

4. In DYN_sponsor, column 5 is fkIDfame: I'm curious as to what impact this data has, if any? Where National, International and Regional are self-explanatory, do we know what 'Mythique' means here?

5. Again back in DYN_team, looking at fkIDdivision, where teams have a value of GS1, GS2 and GS3, I'm wondering how team selection for different races is controlled. For example, what governs which teams are selected for the GTs in career mode, or classics such as the Criterium? If I'm adding 10-20 teams to a DB and want them to feature in specific competitions/races then what do I need to consider here?

Thanks again for the info/help here.

2. Yes. Placeholder. Don't touch that.
3. Don't do that. The game is not designed for that.
4. This is the level of the sponsor. For example when searching new sponsor. Mythique is the highest level and always means the same, look at the scouted riders or the trainers.

1. Well I remember someone posted he had tried with 136 teams, no problems. FCM 2011 for PCM10 had 140 teams as well, I find it hard to believe you'll be looking to make a big giant historic DB so I guess that should be enough Pfft

2. As Lachi said, 119 = free agents.

5. Well, if the races have a "ForceProTour" marked (=1) in STA_race, then automatically the GS1 teams will take part in it. Then there are the rules added in the game (read in game -> rules). Oh and in STA_race_rules you can define the number of teams for races, and the number of cyclists taking part.

The problem with editing in general is it increases the chances of crashing. I'm frustrated!!

Great info - thanks. I'll report back if I hit big problems. So far, so good.

Quick addendum here:

where a new Cyanide PCM patch is imminent and PCM Daily Expansion update is, I understand, expected soon after, would I not be wise to wait till after those are installed before entering into big edits of teams, etc? I'm assuming the PCM Daily update will contain an updated DB with adjusted stats/data and is a better starting point?

Probably, yes. Depends on what are you working on as well. Apparently you're working on historic DBs, in which case it wouldn't make much difference in using the PCMDaily DB or Cyanide's DB as the base one (concerning stats which you mentioned). The "bad" thing about editing stuff now would be that you'll need to convert them to the next patches if there are DB structure changes (which will most likely happen), but it shouldn't be too hard to do that Wink

9-Ball
Yes, makes sense. Do we have a formal ETA on the next patch and if it's likely to be the last one?

Well, they said the patch would be available on the week of 23rd of July = it could be up anytime Pfft In numbers, it could pretty much be the last one, but who knows in the end Wink
