I am completely new to this game, I discovered it a few days ago when my friend gave me his copy because I am totally getting into the Tour de France.
But now for the question:
How should I choose which races to participate in? I am still using the default database and I picked the HTC-Columbia Team but I would eventually like to learn the game and explore building a team from scratch.
I am a little intimidated by the learning curve, and this would help me to move one tiny step forward on mastering this game.
Now, back to your question: the game already chooses the races your team will take part and will automatically assign your riders to races according to their training plan. If it's your first career, I'd say that you could stick to at least the races that the game has chosen for you. Then you can go getting the hang of it and later, when you're more experienced, you'll be able to plan your whole season (Lachi's Planner says hi) on your way towards mastering the game
Btw, one last link: the game will automatically ask you to update to the latest patch, 1.0.4.2. However, that patch will cause a sprinting bug: riders can never pass their lead-out riders, so it's going to be the weirdest sprints ever. Therefore, you can download and install patch 1.0.4.1: https://pcmdaily.com/infusions/pro_dow...hp?did=763
After installing that one, the game will perhaps keep saying that there's a new update and asking if you want to install it. You can either say "no" everytime, or make a shortcut of 'PCM.exe' from Program Files/Cyanide/PCM10 and by double-clicking it you'll go directly to the game (skipping pre-game Menu + update question)
