I'm wondering If I have found the best scout ever. I'm in mars atm. He have only found two players. One is 21 yo and "no hoper" in the scouts opinion, but he have the best stats I ever have found On a youth: 73 in sprint, 71 in accel and 78 in downhill is the best so far. All I've found so far is above 60 but I still miss:
Hills
Mountains
Fighter
Stamina
Restitusion
The other is "worth watching"!!!! Can't Wait to find his stats. He have to be close to Cavendish!!! And he is only 18!!!!!!!!!
Have you had a better scout? Just imagine the stats a "comming Star" would Get!!!! |

The No Hoper line just means he isn't likely to be capable of progressing much further than that.

Oh yeah he is still a good rider to have on a team - he could go really well in breaks by the sounds of it, or setting up a sprint train. Just don't expect him to be brilliant once he is done developing.

Actually, if the boy has potential, it would make the scout the worst ever, for giving you a completely wrong report (yes, the scouts can be wrong, and if I'm not mistaken quite often ).

Yeah. I'm Argos-Shimano so he would be a perfectman to put Kittel or Degenkolb in a good position. |

I usually trust my scouts. I make sure to get the best scouts available at all times. I only sign "Future stars" or whatever they are called. This is the best rider I have ever seen: (Click the small image in this link to see a larger version)

The rider is unedited, and on the picture, not fully developed. Found him during the first season. I love Hawke.

I can't see Hawke ("you have no permission to see this attached file" ). Could you post the direct link perhaps?

The prediction of the scout could be way off.
I counter check it always and the only thing you can rely on are the stats.
The game cannot generate riders with high starting starts if the rider has low development potential. |

Havnt startet a career on pcm 12 yet, but in 2010 i got a young Italian who developed to 84 in MO within the first season! And its not possible to see the stats of the young talent you are talking about

I hired best belgian scout (28k/month) just for curiosity. When he found first promissing player ("it's great rider, i recommend him" i check DB. Youngster was potential 1 and all of his potential max was less than 70. Ok, it is good that scout are not perfectly, but best scout (mythic, 28k/month) should not be so mistaken. For me, they worthless. |

With those stats he can make a nice pace on a DH too. |

Regarding the downhill stat: Normally, only crappy riders have a high downhill stat, because it is the only stat they can evolve in. I don't know if this also applies to young riders, though. |

Wow, what a beast. My problem is, that with smaller teams i usually need to sack my scout, because of the budget and i follow only U23 results.

Scouts are basically useless as it has been just proven. And the best scouts eat up 300k/season (ridiculous). That's too much even for someone trustable. Pays off much more to watch the U23 rankings. And it's free which is an obvious advantage if you start from CT and plan to grow.
A good puncheur will always lead the U23 after first part of the season winning races like Liege Espoirs, doing good in Isard and winning some uphill sprints. Same for sprinter - just get the one with most wins on flat finishes.
For TT and tour riders there are two ITT stages on Berlin and Avenir - just get thge winner.
For a climber you'll need to wait until last stage of Avenir but it is pretty selective.
With a cobbler it's more tricky, you'll have to guess a bit here.
With this pattern you should get at least potential 5 riders, unless there will be someone completely developed - but even that guy should be in low 70's, high 60's in his main stats.
The only drawback is that you will not get the riders from unusual countries.

I'm curious when people say to "watch the rankings" instead of scouting - can you contact young riders straight from the rankings now? (lagging behind several editions, apologies) |
