I was born on the 11th June, 1986 in Facatativá, Colombia, my home town and country. Living in South America as a young cyclist is different to the European experience, as track racing is not a priority. But I bucked the trend, as I quickly became one of the best young track riders in Colombia. as well as riding the biggest Colombian climbs with my local team from a young age. This has moulded me into the climbing specialist I am now, as well as having a vicious accelaration and improving TT ability.
I started my career riding for the Colombian national team in 2003 as a 17-year old. In my first season I won the national junior pursuit title, and finished second in the madison. The next few years though I quit the track, and concentrated on the road. This paid huge dividends as I came out on top in the U23 Vuelta a Colombia of 2005. In 06 I moved onto the amateur Orbitel-EPM team, and produced consistent results, as well as winning the national time-trial title. I also defended my U23 Vuelta a Colombia title in my final season as an amateur.
Onto the pro circuit in 2007 was a big shock, as my results dropped in my stint for Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia. But I still managed to win a stage in my favourite race, La Vuelta a Colombia. In 2008 I joined Colombia es Pasion, and my best year followed. Results galore in U23 races, and I went into the 2008 U23 World Championships race as a hot favourite. The race went amazingly for me, and I rode to the line for victory. My proudest moment for sure, as I stood atop the podium in the rainbow jersey with current pros Simone Ponzi and John Degenkolb on my sides.
The next two years was generally quiet for me, but I still got consistent results in many South American races, as well as the Vuelta Asturias. Then came 2011, as I joined the new Geox - TMC team, joining superstars like Carlos Sastre, Denis Menchov and Juanjo Cobo. In that season I rode the biggest race of my short pro career, the first Grand Tour of my life, the Grand Giro d'Italia. And I even rode one of the best rides of my career on the 5th stage, finishing 2nd to Pieter Weening. Obviously the race was marred by the tragic deaths of Wouter Weylandt and Xavier Tondo, but I was honoured to compete in respect of the great heroes.
Now I'm here in 2012, with the newly formed Colombia-Coldeportes squad, looking to step up to the next level and lead from the front to bring Colombian racing back to life!
The newly minted team of Colombia Coldeportes is, as the name suggests, a full Colombian team. The main reason I joined this team was to represent my country as the team's main leader. But I'm not the only rider capable of winning a race. Although there are no other leaders, guys like Luis Felipe Laverde and John Darwin Atapuma can definitely take a win on their day in the mountains, while our only sprinter Juan Forero is one of the better fast men in the Conti tour. Another exciting rider for our team is Esteban Chavez, who has been tipped as the next Jose Rujano, as he is a pure climber who can develop into one of the best. The rest of the team is very climbing based and some very exciting young talents could develop soon into capable winners themselves. Here is the full team.
With this years squad, we have some direct goals. Here they are.
Earn Invitation to Vuelta a Espana and/or Giro d'Italia
Win at least one ProTour stage/classic
Top-25 Clasica San Sebsatien
Top-10 Euskal Herriko Itzulia
Top-20 Tirreno-Adriatico
Fight for Promotion
Earn 15+ Wins
Top-5 Vuelta a Burgos
Sign a Big-Name Colombian in July
All achieveable, and I will have to take the responsibility to achieve some of them. I will be our leader if we are accepted qualification to a GT, as well as in the Tour of Basque Country and the Clasica San Sebastien. Unfortuantely, as a ProConti team, we are not invited to the Vuelta a Colombia, so that is off the calendar.

Definitely De Gendt!
I think Puccio would make a great story, but you have a point, Alakagom will probably make one hell of a Sky story.
I'd like to see you manage Vacansoleil and maybe make it one of the strongest teams in a few years! |

Tbh I will be happy with any story from you  Choose the rider you are interested and feel passionate to write about. It's between Puccio and De Gendt for me.

Thanks for the votes guys. I knew De Gendt would lead the votes since he'es everyone's favourite. But the lack of love for Duarte has me thinking, so he might be checked off. De Gendt or Puccio? So different, hard choice!

In my opinion, De Gendt is too good already. I like to see a rider develop from a lower point of his career. Your doubts about Sky seem plausible to me so I voted for Duarte as well. Should make for a very interesting story. Especially since you seem to like him a lot.

Agreed you should write about riders you enjoy, that's what make stories last so long. Take valv321's David Veilleux or cunego59's Dominik Nerz as examples

Voted for De Gendt, would see nice to see a story with him. Although I agree that you should go with the rider you prefer so that your motivation is probably bigger I'm not mad btw

Was between De Gendt and Duarte for me, and the latter won my vote. Vacansoleil is already further than Colombia-Coldeportes, that plus the fact that Duarte is one of my favourites makes Fabio Duarte one vote richer.

Thanks everyone, you've all been very helpful, but I have decided to write my story about....
I will start at the release of the 2012 DB for PCM12 which shouldn't be too long considreing most of the models seem the same.
This will be the game thread, so a few more posts so I can do a pres at the start of page 2 or 3 would be great.
