I've had a career with Team Europcar for 8 seasons, and I've noticed something rather weird, and I wonder if someone else has ever experienced this before.
In every season, I worked up to TDF, of course, trying to get a good result.
But I think I saw TDF too much as a final destination (all my other goals were before TDF), that after TDF, I felt my season was over. I cancelled most races to come and mostly simulated the ones I had to ride.
Anyone familiar with this kind of problem? |

I sometimes already have this after the Giro...

To be completely honest, I did have it with the giro for the last 2 seasons of those 8, as winning the Giro was then my primary objective for Rolland (TDF wasn't working out as I wanted to) |

Just a way to say you might loose your rankings...

Oh, yeah, I do, but the good part is I played on normal, so at the end of TDF I was up first with almost two times the points of the 2nd in ranking, so at the end of the season, it was balanced out more |

Definitely been there. I've been on PCM2007 for 4-5 years, upgraded to 2011 just this week, on almost all of my later PCM07 games I couldn't stick with it past le Tour. I downloaded every database but I got bored. Loving 2011 though! |

I'm only in my second season but I quite like the second half of the season. Giro period is most boring for me.
Here's a suggestion to keep it interesting for you guys in the 2nd half:
I a role-playing aspect in my team where, if I achieve at least 80% of all sponsor goals, who are worth at least 90% of all the stars, I grant myself a budget increase of anywhere up to 10 %.
For example if you have a primary sponsor with 10 goals, ranking 5 stars to 1, I need to achieve at least 8 of those goals. This means I can practically only miss out on two races who together aren't worth more than 3 stars.
This way, I force myself to ride for the sponsor goals and keep focus throughout the year. It definitely keeps things interesting, because I need to plan my season carefully to achieve all goals. |

I'm a huge classics fan, so the Giro di Lombardia and the rest of the Autumn classics are always a big part of my season, as well as the World Champs. I might suggest changing your manager nationality to that of one of your star riders and trying to win the WC as an important late-season goal.
I also really enjoy (though why I'm not quite sure) doing ITTs in PCM, so I've been considering changing the Chrono des Nations a bit. Before the WC ITT, it was a hugely prestigious event, on a huge 75km course. I thought I might try and make a very long version and up its popularity a bit so as to ensure more top riders present for it. |

Popularity has no effect on whether good or bad riders show up. To make sure top riders take part, you need to change STA_program (it isn't easy, but if you want to go on with it, by searching STA_program here in the site you might find some more detailed info).

I like that financial bonus idea! Thanks a lot! Maybe I'll try to set some goals myself in the second part of the season. |
