Hi everyone
Firstly, sorry if this question has been posted elsewhere, but I've done a search and couldn't find anything, so here goes...
I've got into cycling enormously over the last 12 months and will likely get PCM2012 when it's released. However, I'd like to know what happens in career mode when you get to the second, third, etc. season re: races. Do you compete in the same races (i.e. the exact same stages) every year, or do they vary? I'm just concerned that completing (for example) the 2012 parcours of the TdF, Giro, etc. every single year could get a bit boring.
Is this where these databases come in, to vary the stages, etc? If so, how easy are they for a complete novice like me to integrate into the gameplay?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

If you use the PCMDaily DBs, they all come with variants already integrated, so you just start up career mode and each season the routes change. I had this exact same question when I was first playing PCM. Hope you stick around here on PCMDaily.

In PCM databse, it's the same race every year. In downloaded databases, it depends on the creator of that database. |

Actually these are from the 2011 Expansion Pack. In the 2012 DB v1 there are 8 TdFs, and it goes up to 11 in the 2012 DB v2 (same number for NCs).

I've only played with PCM database, so in my career of 8 seasons, I rode the same stages over and over again. There's one big advantage: you know what's coming and when.
Though I understand most people prefer new stages every year. |

Is it so that the PCM daily DB can be startet to work on as soon as the game is out? or do they have any chance to work on the DB earlier, so that it will be released soon after the game is released?
I allways look very much forward to the PCM Daily DB, and therefor its kinda boring to start a carrier, just to start over again as soon as the DB is out
They have this great beer here in England, I really love it. Its called Pint.

You could use a PCM daily DB on the new game, I guess.
But they will work on the database as soon as it's released. So after a couple of days, a realname database is made by one of our helpful fellow-members, then I guess it takes quite some time for a new DB, which includes race variants, new stats...

Thanx Ian.
A real name DB is anyway the absolutely most important thing, but a DB with race variants is also very nice.
Do you have like a paypal donation thingy for the guys developing the DBs? i feel they should maybe be rewared some for their effort.

I agree, realname is most important.
I don't know about the donation, there's a donation for the site itself, but I don't know if it's for individual members.
It's a great community where people help each other a lot, and where people do a lot for others for free. (like making shirts on demand...)

The current PCMDaily DB is for PCM11, it won't work on PCM12, logically. As Ian said, very quickly though we'll have a first real-name DB (maybe even before you get the game, since in some countries like Germany the game might be released before the release date - last year, there was a realname DB before the game was released in several countries). The PCMDaily Expansion Pack takes some more time (you can see when it was released for the last couple of games to have an idea of how much time).

Thanks to all the contributors so far.
So with the DBs, is it just a matter of downloading them to your computer, starting up PCM and starting your career? Or is there a bit of behind the scenes work that needs to occur after you download the DBs but before you start the game? |

Just make sure you get it in the right folder, and in the game you can choose any database you like, from the right folder |

You need to install them after you download them. And as Ian said, make sure you install it to the right folder (it's the most common installation mistake for DBs like the PCMDaily one, which has an installation .exe file, and has set a default directory).
