Heya, i have a question.
In my savegame for the Exxon story, for some reason, it hasn't recognised the variant stages, I know there is a way which is described in other threads for one solution, but my question is this:
Could i rename the stages of a variant Giro/Tour/Vuelta/you get the idea, and then play this way, or would there be a lot of other work to be done?

There could be problems because the stage definition in the DB. (Stage type and such)
For example the first stage in 2011 could be a TTT and in 2012 it is a ITT.
But I never tried. You could make a copy of your save and use that copy and simulate up to the Giro and try what happens. (Obviously you should back up the original stage files before you start renaming the others.) |

What do you mean? When you reach next season, go to STA_race and edit the stages? Well you'd need to edit the stage names, files, stage type, relief, length, time gap, mo/hil ratio and uphill sprint. It's not really something fun to do for 60+ stages

Okay, so thats not a good plan then fair enough
In that case, could someone explain to me how to integrate the stages as mine is a slightly different situation to that in other threads i've found
My DB for this game, I made by opening the PCM.Daily DB in the Fast Editor, adding "Team Exxon-Duke" and then saving as a different .cdb file entitled "Exxon"
As a result i'm not sure if all previous rules apply or my route will be slightly different... (Im okay with graphics, but nothing regarding stages or game mechanics so all help is majorly appreciated!)

Same thing as the others (create a savegame with working variants, extract it in an editor that saves tables as files e.g. full editor, excel editor; copy DYN_variant_stage and date? and paste it to your savegame).

Open DYN_variant_stage and see if it has the stages.

Okay well just to add another twist to the plot, The new career, just as my old one, has onely 9variants stages 3xSwiss NC 3xBelgian NC 3xDutch NC
I had a look in the CM Stage file, theres a load of diffferent variants, and a folder called variant with a load of .descr files
is this right or could it be the problem?

Take a look in gene_sz_variant_xml of the races in STA_race, and look if they have the same name as the .descr and .rules files in the folder variant. Another thing to check would be if you have the stages in the folder CM_stages. I don't expect any of these two to "fail" but if both are correct, then I've no idea why the variants aren't being recognised. Try for a 3rd time, maybe? Someone could also upload a variants-working save and then you do the same procedure.

Okay, I kind of follow, I've opened both the Cm_stages file, then the folder variant so i can see the .rules and .descr files
I've them gone to the STA_Race from my exported save game-
C:\Users\Mike\Desktop\Exports\career\STA_race.xml
But i'm not quite sure what i'm looking for, if you mean the stages that have currently got variants, there are no .rules or .descr files present in either the folder variant, or CM_stages.
In the XML file, I found the Championnat de Belgique, and the column you were talking about looks like this
<gene_sz_variant_xml>Belgian championships</gene_sz_variant_xml>
I've searched both Cm_stages, and CM_Stages\Variant This file doesnt exist here. any other ideas?

If you haven't got a folder called "variant" inside the CM_stages folder full with .rules and .descr files of races, then you haven't got all the files for the variants to work. Maybe something went wrong in the installation.

no no, sorry i said that wrong- The file is there with variants for a whole host of races, but inside this file, there is no .descr or .rules files for teh variants that i actually have in my game

Which 'file' are you talking about? The folder variant? If yes please don't call it a file, it makes it confusing (besides the fact that it isn't a file). And if there are no descr or rules files then you don't have the variants in the game? so no sure what you meant in the last sentence.

sorry The Folder Variant is there.
Inside this folder, there are multiple .rules and .descr files.
In my savegame, there are 9different variant stages actually included.
In the variand Folder, there are no .rules or .descr files for these 9 variants.
Hope this is clearer? Thank you so much for helping by the way!

Yes, that's clearer, got it now
Well very strange. But a possible solution is still to have someone upload a savegame with variants, and then you copy them into your savegame.

Okay, now i need to find someone running this DB on PCM 2010 then
Alternatively, it may be easier, to play this season, and then swap to pcm2012, as i don't think many are still playing pcm10 :/

Or someone who played with this DB last year and who still has the savegame (lots of people)
With PCM12 being so close if you think in maybe buying it, I say you just go on with the career and wait.. if you get to the 2nd season and intend to keep playing with it, then try to solve the problem. Otherwise just ignore it for now since it won't make a difference
