Thanks for all the good lucks guys, much appreciated
Sky Giro Team
Leader
Chris improved trough the season. He didn't race much as has only 15 race days coming to Giro, and already with good results in Romandie taking 3rd place overall. He's our ultimate leader who we'll hope will challenge for the maglia rosa. In reality we hope for a Top 3 at the end of the Giro, and we patiently wait for the official startlist to be released. Taking the pink after the TTT is our early goal. Trying to Defend it from there will prove the biggest challenge.
Co-Leader
Siutsou is our second most important rider in the team, he's mountain skills will help us many times, he'll be guiding Froome to the front and making the pace on the climbs until Froome gets going. We hope he can also get a nice GC place at the end of Giro.
Sprinter
Mark comes here as the fastest sprinter in the peleton at the moment, but not with the greatest of the forms. He'll start with just 87 fitness, and he may struggle in the first few stages to get to that good 90's shape. He'll be leaving us at the end of week 2 to prepare for the Tour. We hope to get a stage win and continue his good season which saw him taking 6 victories already. He's support will be rather meek here.
Mountain Domestiques
Henao, Lofkvist and Porte are essential if we want success at Giro. They will protect Froome & Siutsou many times throughout out the Giro. Occasionally on of them will also try to join the break and snatch a good result, possibly even a stage win.
Domestiques
Those 3 will be the ones pulling the strings on the flat stages and protecting our leaders there. If the occasion comes and we'll have the Maglia Rosa you'll see them throughout the stage trying to catch the constant breaks.
Zandio and Nordhaug should prove very useful pushing the early pace on the climbs, while Appollonio will have the mission of pacing up the Cav to the front of the peleton and trying to get that win for the team.
That concludes presentation our team. Later on we'll see have the official startlist looks before the racing begins Comments about the team always welcome

General Classification
Cadel Evans proved to us he's the best climber in the world winning Tour de France. This year he's coming in top shape to Giro and is again top favourite for the win. He's the best climber, puncheur and time-trialer in the Giro. Can anyone bet against him ?
Well actually yes. Ivan Basso had excellent preparation towards the Giro. With only 15 days raced and amazing win at Trentino he's coming to Giro with ideal shape. He's only weakness is the team, where the 2nd best climber would be Peter Sagan. That said the home bonus and his form should make him a top - dog at this year's Giro.
Scarponi is another Italian hope this year. After coming 2nd to Contador last year and then taking the win after Contador's result have been taken away, Scarponi will try to take the tile once again - this time the right way. He had very steady start to the season with good results, but nothing big. He along Basso will try to make alliance to get rid of Evans, it will be a interesting watch.
The Venezuelan is one of the best climbers in the field. His weakness are his average time-trial and puncheur skills, but we won't have many of them this year, which should suit him a lot. His recovery isn't brilliant too, so he may well suffer in the 3rd week. A definite podium candidate, but with Rujano we never know.
Jurgen Van den Broeck is the Belgian's hope at the Giro. He comes with great shape, finishing 5th in Liege - Bastogne - Leige. He's again one of the better climbers in the Giro, but he lacks the support of his team.
Anton had a miserable 2011 in terms of GC, but he took epic victory at Giro last year. This time again he comes for success, but he'll ride for GC this time as well. He's very unpredictable, but we think he'll challenge for a top spot at the end.
And here's our own Chris Froome. He's the weakest climber from all the favourites here, but he compensates having a strong team and great all-round abilities. We definitely think a podium is achievable, anything more than that ? We'll see when we begin racing
Luis Leon Sánchez
Janez Brajkovic
Rein Taaramäe
Kevin De Weert
Wout Poels
Daniel Martin
Sprints
Cavendish is still the fastest man on the planet and comes here us a big favourite for the sprints. He took 6 victories already in the season and will definitely want to improve that total here.
Petacchi is one of the oldest riders in the peleton, but still is one of the fastest. With added home bonus, Petacchi could prove to be an equal rival to Mark.
Farrar is another fast finisher. He is often overshadowed by Mark in the sprints, but with much better lead-out here he might have the edge.
Peter Sagan
Theo Bos
Borut Božic
Danielo Napolitano
Yauheni Hutarovich

Thanks guys, Arroyo is indeed dangerous but not the biggest favourite.
The next three stages are more hilly and much tougher than the opening in Denmark. Stage 6 looks like perfect one for a successful breakaway. Stage 7 at the end of the week is the first one where we expect the big GC guns will contend for victory and first bigger gaps should show who are the favourites for this year's Giro.

Very nice presentation so far, good luck
Cadel Evans proved to us he's the best climber in the world winning Tour de France.
This sounds funny since he won it in the time trial

Good luck, but I'm seriously disappointed in how low Nordhaug's stats are. (jk) |
