As you can tell i play a lot of PCM.
I was using the 2012db with an in game custom team.
Got to august 1st, read and deleted messages then exited the game.
Went to relaod a few hours later and it crashes when i clicked on load last save game. Just quit to desltop with message PCM is not working (checking for solution). I tried that route a few times, no change.
I tired using load, same result.
I used Lachis editor to mess with the save file, no change.
(then saved a copy of my latest 2 games)
Uninstalled game, and resinstalled, keeping same activation.
Now i go to open it, using the .exe and it just crashes straight away, cant even get to home screen.
I had just won the TDF with Kloeden and the Points jersey with Greipel so i assume im too awsome for the game any more, at least thats my theory...
Any help?
p.s. i can still us database editor, stage viewer and stage editor

Most probably a corrupt save game. As Miguel98 said, delete your save (you can make a back up of it if you want, but I don't think it'll be much useful), then take the file which is in the extension 'Carrer_XX.cdb~' and delete the ~ from it (the ~ means it's a security copy, after you delete it the file will become a normal save game). If that doesn't work you can also place the latest Weekly Save on the career folder.

When i uninstalled, i then manually deleted all remaining files. It was as if PCM never existed...
So no save game left to be corrupted after id uninstalled.

i mean everything... even went so far as to clear my recycle bin...

i think it's a problem with the screen resolution. Also, did all of your drivers are updated? |

shouldn't be those. if its screen res. what should it be, and do i just need to change it in control panel?
i dont inmagine that to be it cause literally all i did from when i finished to tried to play it again was exit game and close the lid for 2 hourse then open it again...
ill check the screen res. if u tell me what it should be

Its not screen resolution, just cycled through all of them and it made no difference.

I guess you forgot to delete the pcm folder in %Appdata%
Here the full instructions from Cyanide how to reset the game:
Reset the settings of Pro Cycling Manager 2011:
(Beware, it will erase your progress if you don't make a copy of the folder named Users)
A. My documents
1. Click Windows Start button and click My Documents or Documents.
2. Delete Pro Cycling Manager 2011 folder.
3. Run Pro Cycling Manager 2011.
B. Roaming folder
1. Open Computer then Local Disk (C  .
2. Open Users folder.
3. Open your username folder.
4. Open AppData folder (*)
5. Open Roaming folder.
6. Delete Pro Cycling Manager 2011 folder.
7. Run Pro Cycling Manager 2011.
(*) Note that on some Windows systems the application data folder is hidden by default.
Here is how to make it visible:
Open the Folder Options by clicking the Start button and click Control Panel.
On the Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization and click Folder Options.
On the Folder Options, click on the View tab.
Under the Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders and click Ok.

Look, if you reset your game, it has to run because then the game is like new.
Doing this will make your game behave like freshly installed:
1. Unistall the game
2. Reset the game (described above)
3. Install the game
4. Install the patch
If it still does not run, then do this:
5. Rename the videos folder (where you installed the game)
6. Start the game
If it still does not work then do this:
7. Look up the screen resolution of your desktop
8. Open the GraphicConfiguration.xml in My documents\pcm2011\config (using the editor)
9. Fix the first two columns, according to your screen resolution (make sure to enter it correctly)
10, Save and start the game

I just create the same account: Same name, same email, same key.
This will re-create the same folders in My documents\pmc2011\Users\
Then you can put in the backup of your saves, if they are not broken.
But you should be fine creating another account, I don't know about using a different email address with the same key. |
