After a long break, I'm back in PCM Daily with some questions.
I don't know if some of you can remember it, but I won thanx to PCMdaily a PCM2010 copy, tried it for a couple of months, and I was extremly disappointed... no intermediate sprints, bunch sprint in the end of great classics, unrealistic AI (strange decisions concerning the pursuit of escapees...) and so on.
Last year I had no time to play, but now that I have some more time, I'd like to come back to PCM, so here is my question:
Is PCM2010 with last patch worth playing, compared to PCM2011 and what could be PCM2012, and if yes, with which DB (I mean a quite realistic one, where you can find great flat riders, a realistic Young Riders progression, a bit like ElectroZenshu '09 DB)?
Compared to PCM 11, in my opinion PCM 10 is unplayable. In PCM 10, even with the last patch, there's still groups of 20 riders entering the Roubaix velodrome, about the same number of riders claiming the big mountains of the Tour in a sprint finish, the hilly classics end with 100-rider peloton sprint, in flat stages sprints are bugged (nobody is forming a train until 5 km to go, when suddenly 6 different lead-outs take the front of the peloton at 70 km/h), no rider goes for mountain or sprint prizes.. and that's all changed in PCM 11. Not only some graphics are better (rider bodies look better, so does equipment), but the gameplay is incomparable to PCM 10. I've only played 3 PCMs - 09 to 11, and by far imo 11 is the best. Should be mentioned also that riders are solid now, making it more strategical as well, although it can be quite annoying some times, e.g. when your riders are blocked in a mountain.
There's still some bugs in PCM 11. The head sponsors of the teams can now change in the career mode, but that feature is very buggy - sponsors are useless for your team, since you can't renew with them (therefore no need to please them), you need to scout new sponsors but that doesn't seem to work very well either, equipment color and initials doesn't change with sponsors..
Summing up, PCM 11 is great, especially when it comes to gameplay, but still quite buggy regarding the management side of the game. Some of them though can be fixed with an editor. I care a lot about the gameplay, so I really like PCM 11. There's a lot of things that Cyanide can improve to PCM 12, but we haven't heard anything of that yet so for now we can only hope it'll be even better
If you don't have PCM 11, playing PCM 10 is the best solution.
But if you have PCM 11, you put aside pcm 10, still i think it still worths playing, even with the bugs, like the roubaixbug, no one sprints for mountain points, or the intermediate sprints, still worths playing.
