Team Philosophy
25 cyclists under 25 years, except Marcato who is 26 and will be the team leader. The idea is to compete in as many continental testing schedule, pointing out the tests in French, Italian, Belgian and British. Just ask invitation to pro racing tour that aims sponsor and see possible to get.
We will ask for invitation to the 5 monuments with the idea of doing a good job and prove to our own against elite opponents. We will ask for invitation only the Giro and La Vuelta, we will not go to TDF. We believe that even we do not have the level to compete in the Tour and we want our first tour as a team is PT.
We will not use Scouts, at least in the first season, I have chosen young cyclists who believe have great potential and future. We will not sign stars cyclists, maybe in future seasons, but for now I want to upgrade my cyclists and current leaders to become stars in the future.
Team goals
Well, I hope you enjoy my story ... let's begin!

UPS Team
Leaders.
Spoiler Marco Marcato
Absolut leader for Ardennes races and all the Hills classics, like San Sebastian, Lombardia or MSR. He's a very combative Italian rider with good stats of hills and with good speed for a sprint in a small group.
Jérôme Coppel
Our Giro d'Italia leader, his attributes of Mountain and TT are good to do well in the general classification. Also, he will be the leader in stage races like Paris-Nice.
Jose Herrada
Jose will be the leader for La Vuelta. Also the stage races in the spain calendar, like Volta Catalunya or Vuelta a Burgos.
Yoann Offredo
Our cobbled classic leader, his not a superclass, so, we don't expect great results in the cobbled classic, maybe in secondary classics. We hope that he upgrade his stats for the next year.
John Degenkolb
The fastest rider from my team, he will be the leader in massive sprints.
Thomas De Gendt
Our best TT rider, he also may have the option to do a good job in some stage races. We expect that he upgrade his mountain stats, to be the leader in TDF 2012.
Protected Riders.
Teammates.
Young Talents.

I hope I'm not using one of your reserved spots.
Good luck with this, I really like your team, and let's hope it lasts!

Looks very nice, And impressive jersey if it's one of your first ones. only thing is that it's kinda strange for a British Conti team to have only 3 Brit riders, and among the worse of the team. But good luck
Btw, impossible goals, as usual by Cyanide

I made 15 or 20 maillots before this, so, i have a little practice, lol.
Yes, you're right about British cyclists but I like the mix of nationalities in the customs teams. Maybe they are the worst of the team, right now, but they have a very good progress.
And you're right, again, about the goals, we are a weak and continental team and sponsor ask us pro tour career goals and very difficult, yes...thanks cyanide!!! lol
Thanks for your visit. |

I don't usually post a commnt when a strory starts, but this one looks promising. Interesting riders with great potential (Coppel, De Gendt, Degenkolb), nice philosophy.
Good luck with it!

Welcome to all, below you will find a banner, that will be used to represent the continental races on our calendar:
So, let's begin with the first race in 2011, we didn't want begin in Australia, so, we travel to Argentina:
18/01/2010 - 24/01/2010 Tour de San Luis
It was a very good race for our team, several top 5 stage for Blythe who had to fight with Impey, Kittel, Casper and some more.
Here is some pictures:
And, here is a summary of the fight for the general classification, E. Silin our best rider:
Overall Individual Time - Final
28/01/2011 - 30/01/2011 Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria / Challenge Calabria
First contact for our Leader, Marcato, he started as favorite in this stage race, let's see:
Overall Individual Time - Final
30/01/2011 GP d'Ouverture La Marseillaise
We were very strong in this race, and we had the lead in the last km with Blythe and Clarke, but in the end, Blain sprints much faster and won. 2-3 for us.

Well, here is the first summary of February:
2/02/2011 -6/02/2011 Etoile de Bessèges
We knew it would be very difficult to win this race, only with the final sprints, so we have put in all Elissonde getaways to earn bonuses for intermediate sprints.
Spoiler Stage 1
1. L. Duque 4h16'38" | 2. Y. Arashiro st. | 3. G. Brown st. | 4. D. Impey st. | 5. S. Hinault st. | 6. A. Geslin st. | 7. A. Petit st. | 8. J. Casper st. | 9. M. Kittel st. | 10. L. Mondory st. |
Stage 2
1. B. Traksel 4h57'37" | 2. K. Elissonde st. | 3. D. Impey st. | 4. L. Duque st. | 5. S. Hinault st. | 6. Y. Arashiro st. | 7. A. Geslin st. | 8. A. Petit st. | 9. L. Mondory st.. | 10. N. Sijmens st. |

Stage 4
Stage 5
1. J. Casper 2h29'38" | 2. D. Impey st. | 3. S. Dumoulin st. | 4. Y. Arashiro st. | 5. S. Hinault st. | 6. B. Traksel st. | 7. G. Brown st. | 8. M. Kittel st. | 9. F. Vachon st. | 10. M. Finetto st. |
Final Results
5/02/2011 GP Costa degli Etruschi
First race for our sprinter linder, so its physical form only allowed him to make top 10:
6/02/2011 - 11/02/2011 Tour of Qatar
We came to the lands of the Middle East, with the aim of the sponsor asked us to GC Top 10, so this would be very difficult as there were sprinters like JJ Rojas and Allan Davis, again, the bonus for intermediate sprints, would be a great help:
Spoiler Our young talent, A. Fenn, had participated in all the breakaways and got some bonus that allowed him placed in the GC top 5

Looking good....but imo i don´t like to see UPS having top5´s only with Int.sprints......it´s good for you,ok....but would be more exciting to see top5´s with UPS riders fighting for stage win...

Yes baia, maybe you're right, but is the only way to get decent results with these young and weak riders. Remember, that my team isn't a pro tour team and don't have superclass riders, so, in continental category, thats the way to have good results.
Thanks anyway for visiting my story, maybe when the big races come, I'll do it the way you mention |

You have some pretty good climbers in your squad, so i don't see how you cannot win a stage race with some of them, i'd go for it if i was you |

@baia: Elissonde, Fenn, Silin.. They do not seem weak cyclists? Obviously I have good level of cyclist, but I'm reserving for other races, in these races is the way I like getting results, getting into the breakaways.
@Sutty68: Well, marcato won callabria in the way you say, moreover, is too early to put my best riders on the road. Be patient.
Thanks to you both. |
