No not career mode as it would repeat every year, and that wouldn't work.

Repeat every year? I think I didn't get your answer.
But to the thread itself: both in PCM 10 and 11 you can change the startlist of the race, however you can't use a startlist, you'd need to do edits in the DB (pretty much re-create the race startlist). Besides, I don't know if this would cause other problems (like a rider you've forced into the Giro who was set to take part on AToC), and you can't make sure they'll be in good form, unless you change all their fitness plans in the beginning of the year or change the current fitness without changing the fitness schedule, but that again could mess up the game (your career) plus it would be a hell lot of work. That's as far as I know, but I've never tested it, so not a 100% sure of what I've wrote here.
Ups, just seen CT had said this in the PCM 10 thread lol

lluuiiggii u are right. It would be way to much and in the end you wont get probably the results u are expecting. I try to change the teams who should participate in giro, vuelta and tour and as soon as the season started the ai decided to change averything. |

lluuiiggii, you description is correct, you can define the race participation of all teams with an editor. But as you said, you would need to define the preparation races and the fitness schedules as well. After that, you would need to fix all the other races to make sure that the riders don't have too much race days. So basically you would need to modify the whole season of each rider.
And what for? The career consists of many years and only the first year could be somehow similar to reality. |

I managed to import start lists into my career. It was a lot of work, but the results seem quite satisfying to me personally. I use a personal adaptation of the PCM.Daily-DB
What I did:
- I searched for startlists on the web, and made others myself
- I used each startlist in tour/stage/classic mode, and exported the files with the ExcelEditor.
- For each race, I copied the cyclist and team ID's into the DYN_team_race of the DB I was making.
-I make a backup of the DYN_team_race file
-Start a career
- On January 2nd, I export the career file with ExcelEditor.
-I copy the backup DYN_team_race race into the map with the extracted data of my career.
- I (re)Build the career file using ExcelEditor.
-Done
I'm not sure this is a clear explanation Sorry for my English. Anyway, it was a hell of a lot of work it seems to work now!
If anyone is interested, I guess I could upload the DB and the backup DYN_team_race file that I use. |

OK, so you did the first part of what I said, what about the training schedules, the race days, the preparation races, the races at the same day, and so on? |

I included quite a lot of races. Also different races that take place at the same time (e.g. Paris-Nice and Tirreno / Giro and Atoc). This way, the riders don't take part in different races at the same time.
As I included startlist for preparation races (such as Tour of Qatar, Dwars door Vlaanderen, ...), top riders automatically do the same races they did in real life, as a preparation for top races.
I didn't change anything in fintness schedules. My career is in April now. The results are quite realistic imo. (For instance: Tony Martin got second in Paris-Nice, behind LL Sanchez) |
