I am totally failing at making stages...
A few basic questions...
How do i change the road width?
How do i make laps of part of a stage?
Is there an easy way to remove +25% grads in route?
How do i make a gravel road? (i know its on the side, but which road is it 6,7 or8)
Sorry and thanks, as there is not a tutorial that covers all this that i can find....

How do i change the road width?
Just above the place where you make a gravel road, there's a slider called 'Voies', which defines the road width. 1 for the narrow roads, 4 for the widest.
How do i make laps of part of a stage?
Just meet your route points again in a certain road point; quite difficult to explain, but taking this image as example:
I'll go clicking with the route tool (the red arrow, or simple 'Add Route Checkpoint' in the menu) on the points I want to create a circuit (road points near green line) and meet these route points (the flags) in a certain roadpoint, in this image it's that 3rd road point of the first road. Not sure if the image helped, but it's quite hard to explain this =P
Is there an easy way to remove +25% grads in route?
Uncheck 'Snap Objects to Landscape' and use the blue arrow (pointing towards the sky) to change the height of your roadpoint.

8 for gravels, 6 and 7 for cobbles (you could just test this one out =P).

When you've completed the lap, a pop-up window will appear once you click the last route point, in which you just write the number of laps you want.

Please take a screenshot and upload it here then.
And about the start / finish, it's probably because you don't have two kilometres of road before the start and after the finish. Try adding the start a bit later on the road and the finish a bit earlier. Should solve it.

Some hints for the beginning.
Although width 1 roads are easier to build up the mountain it`s not really senseful. The gameplay will have some problems sometimes due to blocking riders. Better always use width 2 roads there. Still possible to have realistic slopes then. |

I'm having trouble as well
Firstly - Once i have made the stage and everything is ok i save the stage and then i export it to my desktop.
Secondly - I open the in-game editor and enter all the details through the add race option and then create database and save.
Thirdly - I open PCM Fast editor and enter the required data in both STA_stage and STA_race and then save.
And finally i open the game and select my database and then select my stage and then a message comes up saying PCM11 has stopped working. And this happens every time to me but not to other races i have downloaded.
Any HELP would be greatly appreciated

The problem occurs because your exports are in the wrong map. All the exports you make you must place in the following map: CM_Stages in your install directory. When you add your stages to your DB when they're in CM_Stages you can play them after you've exported your database and selected it ingame! I hope this helps! |

Well the exports aren't necessarily in the wrong map, but indeed you must be forgetting to place them in CM_stages. Btw, when you talk about 'in-game editor' you mean the official one? (since there's no ingame editor). If yes, what required data you enter in STA_stage/STA_race? Because there's no need to add anything more after you've edited the file even with the official editor.
And a quick tip, answering Fuglsang's unanswered question on this thread: the easiest way to test your stage is to replace it with another one. So make a backup of another stage from CM_stages, add your stage in CM_stages with the same name as the one you've just made the back up and after you've tested it, overwrite your stage with the original one.
