Im currently having problems with the final sprint. my lead out trains work perfect with my custom team (thanks to help and tips from people in this forum ) the only problem I have is when someone steals the wheel of my main sprinter and comes over the top in the final 1.5 KM.
I just cant find a way to stop this and win a race. It seems that even with my sprinters with top fitness (90%+) and better stats the computer can always come over the top and steal a win.
This is what ive tried so far
-Going early- sprinting with about 1.8 k to go to catch the computer out
-Waiting for the computer to sprint, then imedetley sprinting.
The only thing I haven't tried is to follow the computer after he sprints as i think there is not enough time to drop back then sprint again.
So I was wandering what other people do when they have a train and they notice they have the likes of cavendish, farrar, pettachi on their wheel?
It works if you have three sprinters ready to go in the final 3km. Have them each sprinting aggresively. Get the first and weakest sprinter to sprint right away, with the second following him and the sprinter following him. Once the first man's red bar is near empty, sprint with the next man. This should mean that your sprinter should be prepared to launch his great attack with about 1.2km to go and still have plenty of energy to cross in first place.
On the other hand it`s always hard to win with riders like Cavendish/Greipel/Farrar directly behind you.
Not just in PCM, also in real cycling.
The only way to win sprints from the front position is to have good lead-out riders (combination of flat and sprint). Without them you need to follow a sprinter from another team.
Sometimes it`s enough to sprint just 600m with your main sprinter to overtake other sprinters. This is working better for me than sprinting a long sprint with 1,5+ km as he will slow down a lot in the end.

I had the same problem that you have quoted, so i don't launch my main sprinter until 800m to go and always on aggresive. If that fails i follow the wheel of a renowned sprinter and hope for the best
I sometimes struggle with other sprinters simply taking my place behind someone. That wouldn't have been a problem if I had a chance to retake my position, but alas no.
There have been times however where I've been so lucky to either have a good train going or to stay on the wheel of Farrar, Cav etc. I will usually follow them up to the 600meter mark before I try to overtake them.

Well that's the shoulder-battle of the last kms, and I've got to say I find this to be really nice with the solid rider model, and thus really fun. Sometimes I use team mates to get the sprinters out of the wheel I want to get, if the team mate is luckily in the same straight line on the road of the sprinters train I try to put him on dot 99, it can happen that he goes straight to the wheel of the sprinter I wanna follow, then I get the wheel again.
