I have just began upon my second year in career using the pcm dailt database. None of the races have changed from last year, I thought that the grand tours and world championships would. Why haven't they and what can I do to make them change. |

Can I bump this please?
I'm in my second season. I was in the Continental Tour last season but got promoted. I've reached Le Tour and it's the same race route as last year. I'm guessing that all the other races were the same route too.
Is it possible to change it and how? It's not the worst problem to have but it's a bit like the PCM equivalent of Groundhog Day.
NB: I play the DB that comes with the game. |

There are no variants in the original game.It is theoretically possible to take the variants from another DB and add them to your save-game, but it's going to require a fair bit of work from your part.
There's a guide here: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....pid=347084
You still need to download all the varians, though. The easist way to get them is to download a database that got variants and copy that part of the package to your game. |

Thanks for your help.
I'll look at it in detail when I get home. |

I've had a look at this and have no idea what I'm doing.
I have downloaded the PCM Expansion pack, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, added the last patch and added the new database.
The game interface looks slightly different, although names and equipment haven't changed (I'm not worried about that).
If I use Lachi's editor I can see extra stages now for Le Tour, Vuelta, Giro etc.
Am I right to assuming that, therefore, come next January in the game, there will be new stages in those races, or do I still need to do something else? |

If there are new stages in DYN_variant_stage, I'm guessing it will work the following year, yes. |

*BUMP*
I tried to edit my save to get a different Tour route but without success. I have downloaded the expansion pack but can't edit my save. When I go to the next year it's the same route as the last 2 years. I have taken the save beyond the change date in January and it's the same.
Could someone edit it for me please? I would be very grateful. It's not a disaster if it's not possible but it would be more intersting to have some variety in the races.
I have attached a save from December so that it's before the change date.

Well your savegame hasn't got variants, so take a look in Program Files/Cyanide/PCM11/CM_stages/variant and see if there are .descr and .rules files. If yes, try creating a new savegame, see if it has variants (see if there are any lines in DYN_variant_date), and if yes, do as it says here, editing the new save and the weekly save from Dec 2011:

Thanks for the help Luigi.
I've tried but I can't get the editor to work. Never mind. I'll just have to keep riding the same Tour route. Maybe one day I'll win it.
Thanks anyway for trying. |

What do you mean "can't get to work"?

I mean that it doesn't do anything.
I'm not good technically, but I used a RAR program to open it but it doesn't let me open a database. |

You don't open the DB, you import it, like step 7 here: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....rowstart=0

OK, I can get the editor to work now. Thanks for the hint.
But, I still have no variants in my new save.
If I start a new save using the expansion pack database then it has all the right team and rider names. When I import the save all I have under variants are the GP de Plouay, same as under the official database.
I go to my C drive and under Cyanide I find the game. In there is a folder called CM_Stages which has lots of variants e.g. 2008 Tour de France etc.
So, what have I done wrong? I have a variant folder but it's not being picked up in a new save game. Or am I missing something?
If I can solve this I might be able to do the rest using the editor. |
